    Only problem with TLD25 is only 5kg of drag - Tyrnos is a much better buy as it can manage 10kg

    TLDs do well, ran them exclusively in my first 10 years of game fishing. The older Japanese models definitely last longer than the new ones. We have upgraded to tiagras for longevity. A black magic equaliser will also change the game

      yeah these bloody TLDs won't die! once they do, they will definitely be replaced with tiagras... I will check out that Equalizer

    Absolutely agree regarding the NAMED BRANDS only. These companies have given us QUALITY, RELIABILITY which we expected as paying customers for over half a century. Now...... the market being infilled (happily by the likes of eBay and Amazon, etc) by Chinese " look - a - likes ", made TO MAKE THE SALE........period. l also have purchased too much junk ( baitcasters) and my opinion is that they are ' models ' of reels, many literally feeling like an Airfix model ! For real fishing, l use ABU, PENN, Shakespeare, Diawa and to be frank, l've never had a problem and this new Asian stuff was just a novelty, but they're not for real fishing.

    Great videos mate. Just ordered a 615c barcrusher. I have 3 tld25’s and I changed the handles with some from eBay. They broke first trip out? Do you remember where u got the upgraded handle from? Poor man pays twice 😩

    What is the advantage with two speeds?

    • @BaitBallin
      @BaitBallin  Рік тому +2

      The torque of the lower gear when trying to move big stubborn fish and the speed of higher gear on smaller fish, retrieving line etc. When you are hooked to a big Marlin some times you literally can't get a wind with high gear reels

    Hey bro this video was very useful I live in Tanzania and I’m thinking of getting the tld 50 lrsa for tuna and marlin and for a rod I have no idea but I think normal guides with a roller at the top what do you think Any advice

    • @BaitBallin
      @BaitBallin  8 місяців тому

      If you are running rod out wide with outriggers. Avoid roller tip. If not and for all other positions that will be fine. Good luck

  • @jackofalltrades5904
    @jackofalltrades5904 3 роки тому +1

    Why is there more handle up the rod instead of at the bottom? What are the difference?

    • @BaitBallin
      @BaitBallin  3 роки тому

      most of my rods are pretty cheap, I like the Shimano backbone elite and ugly stick blue water game rods. they do the job just fine and are affordable. the longer handles are important for leverage and being able to hold big drag for stand up game fishing

    • @jackofalltrades5904

    I'm looking at getting a set up for tuna fishing but I was looking at the tld 25/30 and a 50/80lb shimano tld stand up rod what would you recommend for either of those rods and reels? Thanks

    • @BaitBallin
      @BaitBallin  2 роки тому

      Hey, the Shimano backbone elite rods are good value and match well to those reels. Just work out whether you want to go for guides or rollers. The fully rollered rods are really only for trolling and don't do well out on angles etc. So mainly I either use all guides Or rollers too only. With all guides you can still sue for live baiting etc.

    • @cmickshane
      @cmickshane 2 роки тому +1

      @@BaitBallin ok thanks, the rod has all rollers but i havent really found any rods with just guides instead of rollers but thats probably because im shopping on mostly uk sites ill keep looking though, and with live baiting would you say the rollers are a no go?

    • @BaitBallin
      @BaitBallin  2 роки тому

      Easier without the rollers for sure. The rollers often rust and jam up so need constant maintenance. so I often go for roller tip only.

    • @BaitBallin
      @BaitBallin  3 роки тому +2
