This documentary is absolutely brilliant. It is one of the best, ever, on mental health - even 45 years later. The production values are immense. I was very sad to hear of Bill Werner dying at the end - you could see the immense stress the man was under.
26 mins in - Head Doctors says 'In 50 to 100 years time, ill still never be able to convince you its okay to live next to a mental person' - 50 years on and he is still right. Very sad.
I'm moving next month because I live next door to an aggressive delusional 66 year old female. She has accused me of saying bad things about her. I'm autistic and keep to myself. She has indiscreet sex with black men and they make noise. I'm so embarrassed and nervous about her behavior she has ruined my quality of life. I don't invite relatives and friends .
This was honestly one of the best, well shot documentary’s I have ever seen, giving us a great perspective, I’m so glad this was able to have been created before the doctors passing, seems like they cared
They did empty these institutions, But getting access to the medicines these people need is difficult. Many of them wind up homeless / or in correctional institutions.

Dr. Werner was a man way ahead of his time.

What a great doctor Werner was; ahead of his time!
Dr worked himself to death fighting for them. God bless him. May he rest in peace
Good person.

Partly because drug companies make the meds so insanely expensive. Like 1200 for 1 month.
