Amazing where the research came from back then. AT&T, a phone company. Not only has technology changed, but the industry has changed so dramatically right along with it. It would be a stretch of the imagination to understand how this research could possibly have been useful to the way phones are used today, but back then phones were still an amazing concept to be tied with computers and technology - and they had to be, to serve the widespread use of telephones.

The 16mm print that I own is a Technicolor print which surpasses the quality of the one shown here. I hope at some point soon the AT&T Archives or MoMA will rescan their version (presuming they have an original 35mm neg) in HD. On the other hand I have nothing more than praise for AT&T of publishing their wealth of films to the public through it's website and UA-cam! Keep up the good work!

+Roloff de Jeu (Pulp-o-Rama) Are you serious about Orson Welles? That's pretty wild. Do you know Ken Knowlton?

Actually, that's Barry Sullivan doing the narration, but he does sound like Orson Welles. (See also the "Lasers Unlimited" film .)

If you have a better quality version, do you think you could upload it for the world to see?

I have it on film, not digitised (which is quite pricey), plus I don't own the rights.

Amazing that we've come from this to smartphones and gaming consoles in just 50 years.

I feel sorry for the compression algorithm that just gave up on those abstract animations. Hope the film is preserved so one day I might see it on film!

Damn it was another time, when computer programers wore suits and ties, and not shorts and T-shirts!

Today computer programs are a toy compared with the computer infraestructure and programs used in this video.
Today programs are not very practice useful. It only comes bundled with a lot of pretty graphics that just waste cpu power and memory. They only want to sell you a program but not to make a really useful utility.
Touchscreens was present from that days! Wow!
Today no operative system is really ready to use touchscreens. Not to mention that they are very very expensive and bothersome.
Today software are a good business for some and a bad business for the rest. No good software, a lot of useless hardware, only a few useful hardware and near no useful software at all.
What happened with the technology? It is carrying the humanity to back? Or human likes to go back at all cost?
We are idiots! ha ha ha ha ha... :P (just kidding)
