"I would die for these colours!" -titus, former black shield of the deathwatch Goes to show that just because they're away with their original colours, doesn't mean they deep down don't still carry the meanings those colours represented.
@@shadixbloodshadow black shields are all defined by abandoning their heraldry and becoming essentially marine exiles in a sense. While there are many different ways to become a black shield, a black shield marine even without the signs, symbols and imagery representing and befitting their origins of both themselves and their beliefs, will still carry and more than likely embody those beliefs without the signs there present to help represent those beliefs. Of course not all marines are like that, as some straight up just jump ship depending on how badly their chapter may treat them due to some chapters seeing the deathwatch in particular as punishment.
@ConceptsCool4993 Theres 2 different wiki pages for the 2 types.. Blackshield (one word for heresy era) and 2 words for the death watch. Both have simile representations of wanting to repent or atone... But they aren't necessarily the same thing... The heresy era Blackshields have sub chapters. Death eagles being one I remember...
The Blackshields are perhaps an example of how torn the bonds of brotherhood became during the Horus Heresy, and it is a terrible sight to see such noble bonds be destroyed by lies and deception.
Blackshield. That's a rough row to hoe, but sometimes in this crazy topsy-turvy 40K galaxy, if your Primarch Dad had turned traitor against your Emperor Grand-dad and you were Team Grand-dad, you just have to paint your gear black and roll with it.
@@thetraitorguardsmen.5321 you can play as them in the unification mod for dawn of war soulstorm, thanks for the lore whenever I learn something new I usually play as that chapter/warband
My Imperial Guard army on the tabletop is "canonically" seconded (read: at gunpoint) to a renegade blackshield warband. In looser, just for fun games they are led by an astartes command squad. Deep in Imperium Nihilus, the men and women fight for their tiny fief, at the behest of these Angels of the Emperor who bear no heraldry.
Blackshields are fascinating, the idea of these renegade space marines running around the galaxy either because they chose to be better or worse than the legion they chose to leave behind is very interesting its kinda weird how there isn't any major black shield character.
Yeah I really like how they portray each black shield 🛡️ as basically loyalist space Marines that basically survived The Purge of Istvan3 and Istvan5 by the traitorous legions and primarchs and how they basically took it upon themselves to redeem themselves and some Honor to their legion even though their brothers and Gene sire were Heretics and traitors and going incognito was basically the only way they could save their ass cuz everyone assumed that all the Loyalists factions of each legion was wiped out during those purges and everyone that was left was a traitor so for those loyalists space Marines of those traitorous legions yes they would have to go incognito Great Video Brother 🔥🔥🔥🔥💪💪💪💪🤘🤘🤘🤘😎😎😎
my own fan-fic background lore for "my-dudes" chapter lore; is basically Loyalist; nightlord, Sons of Horus and World Eaters are delayed by engine trouble / problems in warp travel, one nightlord collapses with prophetic visions of the feelings of betrayal from those loyalist from all the Legions about to be killed by their brothers on istvan. those Loyalist from Traitor legions arrive too late and form their own, "insular" -not in contact with other loyalist forces, Blackshields warband, and eventually dissapear before the siege of Terra. 2 millenia later, the Reborn Eagles [Aquila Reincarnate] chapter of "unknown gene-seed" (cross-contaminated hybridized chimeric) with a "Penitent nomad pilgrims" culture appears to assist a remote frontier world on the fringes of the galaxy, as an black armor clad fleet based chapter. who are "meditative insular monks" on an eternal Pilgrimage of Penance. Who's train specialist Librarians as Prognosticar called Aethyric Oracles. to "guide" their Nomad Fleet. Quotes from their ancient founders have survived and influences them greatly; "a Pilgrimage for forgiveness and the sanctified wroth of betrayal, the need for atonements of the sins of our brothers and a struggle for redemption for the broken promises of mankinds treachery against the Emperor" - "It is better to perish in the dark depths of the void than to fail our Immortal Emperor, we shall become the Dark Shield of the Eternal Imperium, we shall see it and ourselves reborn in the blood of traitors and the cleansing flames of righteous retribution, guided by his light" - "to eternally quest for the continued Unification of all Mankind under the Emperor's Imperium", sworn vows of Insular Nomadic Exile, oaths of Eternal intercessory pilgrimage of penance, on the behalf of all Astartes betrayals and failures, knowing no home except the light and grace of the Emperor.
Ah yes my very first painted space marines cause it's difficult to paint the imperial fist iconography on their left pauldron so I paint it all jet black and paint the left pauldron and arm silver.
Please slow down, this one i had to lower you talking speed as you sound like you were trying to rush through this, which was odd because your other videos don't sound sped up like this one did

yes
Isn't that a different type of black shield though?

its weird cause in the intro of SM2, there was a Black Shield that clearly had a space wolves Paldron on his shoulder.

Skyrar's dark wolves are my favourite black shields. Space wolves and sons of horus. Mixed into a chaos space marines warband supported by Abaddon.
God that sounds like a homebrew chaos warband my word.
I didn’t know they were Hours’ too, kool. That’s my kill team now.

I had a loyalist chapter named that in Dawn of War. Good thing I abandoned them😅

Finally, long form lore about Blackshields, very good video dear remembrancer!
The orphans of war, shattered legions, black shields, all are my favourite groups of marines. Usually the most interesting characters.
Probably one of the best voices on UA-cam, you sir have phenomenal delivery, keep it up
love your stuff, Remember Man, thanks for all your hard work
Excellent ending message as always Rememberancer. Thank you
Another great video. The latest on a list of excellence
Ahhh the black shield quiz perfect it was.
You'd think the Emperor could've made his super soldiers to have less petty drama and a bit closer to an adult in age mentally.
I appreciate you adding your words of encouragement at the end. Great work, take care and keep on rocking.

I know this channel is a 40k one but I’d love to hear Trench Crusade lore from you
Always a good day when I get content from my favorite Warhammer lore channel
best lore channel
These dudes sound metal as heck
These remind me a great deal of the earliest RT era marine models, like the marine with a shuriken thrower, and others.
Astartes with a lasgun is new thing to me😂

sweet my favorite thing gotten covered.
Awesome vid Rem! Hopefully GW gives us more blacksheild lore. I'm sure there will be some noteworthy accounts in the upcoming scouring series
Thanks for the video.
We have been properly elucidated!
