    honestly, I've had 100hrs of driving, first test is tomorrow and busy roundabouts were probably the hardest thing to learn, I like to take my time when driving so these 1-2s gaps were something I hated, I wonder how practical a small video game would be to help learners identify gaps at these kind of roundabouts? as I found it tough to identify gaps and hated learning it because it felt scary, maybe within a small game, it could help teach learners to improve their skill on when to enter a busy roundabout
    Update: 93 hours of lessons 10 hours of practice and 1 year are finally over, Passed First time with 3 Minors!

      I passed my test yesterday, I thought I failed 2 mins into my test at my first roundabout because I hesitated as no one was indicating and I realised I could have gone and there were cars behind me. I got a minor for undue hesitation.

      Nice! my first test is tomorrow morning, my only issue is a bit of hesitation too, nothing serious, but its improved a lot since, I don't think I will pass, if I get a good easy route then I probably will but if I have to go on certain roads, it's probably over, there's a dual carriageway near me that's slip road only gives you literally 2 seconds of mirror time to decide to join or not, being how I like to take my time and drive carefully, I fucking despise this road and never feel safe on it and I'm never going on it if I pass
      but if in Doubt, wait, thats what I was told at roundabouts and honestly, better to get a minor for hesitation than to go out and crash into someone

      If you are having a lesson before your test, tell your instructor you want to do the slip road and anything you are not confident with. I luckily got a route where I go past my house. There are no slip roads near me so I've not learned how to use one but I'm going to have a motorway lesson soon. Good luck on your test.

    You've got this Phoebe! With a bit more experience, you'll start to identify what some people call the "body language" of cars. It's especially useful with judging when to pull out on roundabouts.

    you can also look blockers from the left-hand side who has right signal on (right hand lane for right turn then they come all the way around and block cars for you) especially on very busy roundabouts

    I feel for Pheobe, i have this exact same problem and i’ve been doing driving lessons for what feels like forever! I also put extra pressure on myself because i feel like I’m holding everyone up even when there’s no appropriate gaps😩

    I hope you can do a video on Milton Keynes body roundabouts one day. It's absolutely crazy some hours of the day, and speed is everyone's middle name here 😭

    It's just practice try not to watch every car. Just watch for what matters the spaces and the blockers. Try to keep it as simple as you can . With practice you start to understand drivers positioning more and what they intend to do

    Excluding your Manoeuvers & before pulling off when should you check over your shoulder?

    • @qasimmir7117
      @qasimmir7117 2 місяці тому

      A lane change on a motorway could be applicable for a shoulder check. Also merging onto a dual carriageway or motorway.

    If you go left on roundabout first exit and cars on the roundabout are in inside line, most probably going past that exit to next ones, you cannot just go if the outside lane on roundabout is not busy?

    • @Dr3Mc3Ninja
      @Dr3Mc3Ninja 2 місяці тому +3

      No, because those cars on the inside lane could move out at any time.
      Plenty of drivers do not move to the outer lanes until the last second, so you would risk cutting someone off.
      This is also why you should always maintain a staggered formation on a roundabout, the risk of being side-swiped/or side-swiping someone as you exit a roundabout is high, as a lot of people will move into the left lane as they exit from the inner lane.
      I recommend watching dash cam channels, they help you learn hazard perception, and show you how NOT to manoeuvre your car on a roundabout.
      "Dash cam roundabouts" should turn up compilation videos showing you good examples.

      @@Dr3Mc3Ninja thanks. If there are two lanes on exit drivers from inner lane would usually exit there, in the right lane. But may be a problem if there is one lane and they are leaving at the last second

    No ned to indicate at roundabouts when going straight over. If you do indicate it could confuse other drivers as to where you am going.

      You need to indicate before you leave it to let people know you're getting off. makes it much easier for people to find gaps
