*STRUCTURE DECK BATTLE ROYAL* looking forward to that! How far back you guys going with the Structures? Cuz I have not ever gotten the Fire Emperor from the first fire structure deck to do it's thing
Personally I like how the Traptrix structure had 1 copy of every traptrix + copies of most "Hole" traps, similar to the Shaddoll structure also having the entire archetype (at the time), or the Cyberdark structure having the vast majority of the deck. It makes the structures a good place for players to pick up a new deck for an archetype they don't already have, while still being desirable for players invested in the archetype thanks to the new cards and sometimes that off-theme cards they put in. Also it's nice to have a specific place to look at when asking "ok, I want to build this, what do I buy?"; Buying singles is mostly fine, but there's always some amount of juggling with things like where you're buying from, who has what in which conditions and at what prices, how many sellers are you buying from at once/ is there anyone that has all of it etc.
I love to go through my cards and find new archetypes to play and new decks to find! Amazing Defenders I actually thought was cool, I bought a lot of them. Also I find as well there is so many decks that no one plays it’s sad… I love to play Gimmick Puppets but it’s so difficult to play a pure Gimmick puppet deck 😂 I also play Frightfur which is a really decent going second deck but I find it can’t compete with the meta! I could go on forever who know maybe I’ll make a video about it 😂
I personally love Solfachord. Coolia's negate is deceptive. I target negate with her, it goes through. After some other things, it's likely my opponent's turn, they activate the targeted card and try to start making their plays using it and I go "Nuh-uh, it's negated." Coolia negates for two turns. Then you have Coolia's quick effect destruction. The only problem is it centered around another Coolia being in the pendulum zone and it'd only destroy 2.4k atk or lower monsters. Or Beautia's targeted banish when the targeted card leaves the field. That doesn't seem like a big deal... then you read her battle effect. If you have a Cutia in your pendulum zone, Beautia is going to destroy anything without card destruction protection. Combine that with the banish... Then you have Gracia and Angelia's effects. Most think they're just a searcher and a character switch, respectively, but they also have battle effects... which is somewhat the problem. Gracia stops the activation of spells and traps when an attack is declared with a Solfa monster, and Angelia stops the activation of monster effects when an attack is declared with a Solfa monster. If these were blanket effects and not just "on attack declaration", they'd be extremely good.
There is this format "Split Format" where each 1 Archetype has its unique pool of cards, and you can combine it with 1 other Archetype that has its unique card pool or with NEUTRAL card pool with 5000+ usles cards that don't have there Archetype. If you can push this Split Format thing to Konami it would bring about 1M players back to this game guaranty.
I love building decks with archetypes that are not that much played, because you keep on discovering things and you are not playing something that shuts down your opponent turn1, also cards are extremely cheap,, so, for the prize of 1 strong deck you can build like 4 to 8 fun decks to play casually with friends
You should to do a tournament, featuring these deck build pack archetypes. Maybe as a collab with other Yugitubers because there are so many of them. Me and my friends actually did a battle Royal where we each opened three boxes of a deck build pack, on a pack simulator, of our choice and used the cards we pulled to build decks. We did also come to the conclusion that deck build pack archetypes are quite well matched, at least out of the box. For example, I learned that Adamancipator (WITH BLOCK DRAGON by the way) cannot beat DRACOBACK CONTROL. However, we also did something similar for structure decks and we realised that the gap between individual structure decks of the sevens era is collossal. You only really start to understand the size of the gap when you try to beat Albaz strike with Familiar-possesed!
This video succinctly summaries my main gripe with the game. The product releases assume that there are alternative formats (the archetypes in deck builder sets don’t match up with META-designed archetypes), but that’s not true. On the one hand it feels great that old cards like Guardian/Labyrinth are getting lore-focused support, but on the other it feels frustrating that they’re designed in a way that makes them intentionally worse than other designed decks. konami’s printing the cards, but it’s not giving a (good) reason to buy and/or play them.
I don't know if you guys are joking or not but you do know that Purrelys are a tier 1 deck in the ocg and is gonna be running rampant here after CYAC. There is a reason why the CRs for them are around 100 bucks.
When my friends and I play, we will decide each week if we want to play low, mid or high tier decks so they all get played. We have just as much fun doing it that way and we know the decks will be evenly matched and no one deck overpowers the other.
What's worse? No support, or support that's so bad, it gives you the illusion the deck you like will get new life, only for the support to do absolutely nothing, and the deck continues to sit where it was before the support. Feel like that's another issue with Konami. Where even if the archetype is getting new cards, the cards are adding nothing to the deck, other then some new artwork.
there's another issue that no one seems to think about, what if the support for archetype X is good, but it ruin the fun of the archetype? something like X was supposed to made a lot of strategies and decitions based on what the opponent have on the field, but after the support, X does the exactly same combo in every duel that end up with the same braindead boss monsters? believe it or not, that's what i fear with my favourite archetype
It would be interesting to have a tournament where you are only allowed to play with cards released in deck builder sets. So you can play a constructed adamancipator deck for example but because doki doki was released in that set you can add that. And every DB set is allowed. So adamancipator vs Sky striker for example is something you can run into. The point is, if it's not in those sets it's banned for the event. Hand traps, staples etc.
This would be great if the pull rates from these sets didn't make it insanely expensive to pull the important new cards. They need to stop short printing in these if they want this to be viable as a casual format. Maybe make them just big $100 boxes that contain all the cards, or something like the speed duel boxes where you can buy 3 of them.
Yeah, agreed. I was looking forward to amde, but didnt pull anything from my box. I literally got none of the expensive cards and both mikanko and purrely are unplayable without cards that cost over 20€ each (too lazy to look it up in dollar). Now i have all of the purrely deck cause i was lucky enough to pull a playset of all the cheap spells and cant do anything with it
I second this, as someone who's dropped $320 AUD on Ancient Guardian boxes, plus at least 5-10 individual boosters, and still don't have at least one copy of every Ogdoadic card, and single copies of several Solfarchord cards. It's crazy these sets cost as much as regular sets despite boosters having 2 less cards per pack, and I believe the set overall has fewer cards than standard sets?
Probably time for us take matters into our own hand and Create player funded events, with the formats we can agree on. The key goal would to stop going to local tournaments and official YCS events, maybe then this will get “komoni’s💸” attention and force them to listen to the player base
a format that was like, only the last 6 deck builder sets are legal would be fantastic. the problem might be that it then codifies them as being designed to be lower powered.
As a Blue eyes player I really do look forward to seeing new sets and seeing what comes out that can make my blue eyes contended with the meta, I do feel other sets so need some love. They are just fallin to the wayside. I just wish they make cohesive strategies seems like anything new is locking your opponent or negates. From a designer perspective they can do alot better than that, I roll my eyes when I see nxt set that either plays in their opponents turn or prevents them from playing. I'd like to also see more diverse playsets, introduce new ones that are actually healthy to the game. I'm one of those who absolutely refuses to play with handtraps, I hate them that much. And to be honest I do fine without them, ya I get some bad matchups where I occasionally get stopped 1st turn by handtraps. We're talking a 1 out of 20 duels ratio. Instead I run cards where I can stop their handtraps and benefit from it. Since 95% of players will be using them. But on the up and up older sets I'd love to see them get support and playable again.
You have a problem with structure deck tournaments where it's the same deck? Try playing 3 traptrix mirrors in a row. Nothing works! I'd love a format that allows lower powered decks to be played. For example, I want to play magikey and amazoness or mellfy, but it gets so discouraging because everyone at my locals is playing decks built around their attempts at handling kashtira
Back in the day we'd have structure deck tournaments at our locals where you could play any structure deck and those were lots of fun. Then a bunch of people complained about the Vampire Genesis deck a couple of the better players were running and it got banned lol. The deck wasn't even that good.
The only way to make a structure deck tournament if you only get one structured act and that's it. And he can beat any structure deck from any era. So if you want to play a really older structured act with older cards while you can. As long as you follow a very specific cardless one to one. Meaning you can play with a structured back from 2005 vs 2023 structure dagon you're only able to use the cards from that structure deck no.3 up just one structure deck
I think the deck builder sets could use their own format. 3 players buy into a box, each one picks a theme. Split the box accordingly, and then divvy up the staples
i like the deck builder sets . i can buy a booster box and my friends will build the deck off what will pull to the type we want from the one boster box . we split the cards up due to the deck we choose. Its alot of fun that way we see how they compare to eachother . A tounry with the deck builders would be fun to see at events .
I can't complain, but it's funny how the Traptrix SD has repeated trap holes and well as 2 mekk knights, a couple random plant cards that have probably never been used with traptrix, way too many staples and yet it lacks basic traptrix mainstays like Parallel Exceed, Torrential Tribute, Time Space Trap hole and treacherous trap hole. I can probably understand why parallel isn't there since only having one in the deck makes it unplayable, but still.
This is definitely not a new issue in Yugioh, there's been archetypes released that had little to no direct support since early Synchro days. Almost everything out of Hidden Arsenal is basically "we had a cool idea, but spent all our time on lore instead of creating cards to make any of this viable". I mean, I love to come back every couple years and find some random set of cards suddenly has a heap of new support (recently found out there is support for the Queen's/King's/Joker's Knight trio) but so many archetypes needed support on release, not 10 years later (ie, Harpies, Ancient Gear). I'd love to see some still unsupported archetypes get more cards (Vylon, Venom, Reptilliane, Ally of Justice, Jurrac), but I'm certain that even if they did, it'd be too little too late for them to be tournament viable (at least, not without basically making all the existing cards all but entirely obsolete, which defeats the point). That said, I'm still trying to build a lot of these kinds of decks out of enjoyment for the theme or aesthetic of the archetype, just for casual play. Sadly, even in casual play an unsupported archetype can only be enjoyed so much, and only see a limited amount of success.
Honestly, hadn't even thought about it being for the Egyptian Gods. I already have a deck partly about Arcana Knight Joker, so I've been looking to get the new cards to improve that deck. XD
i like the idea but most decks dont have 40 cards main even after future support and for structure decks it would be fun if they did a MTG where you buy a bundle of two decks to play against eachother. springan vs timethief or adamancipator vs speedroid and do a tournament where you avoid the mirror matches unless you have to and see what happens, not a strucure deck but 3 offs almost everything and mix it with generic cards like golbinbergh for xyz or stardust dragon for the synchro's. would also be cool if it were 2 archetypes that have synerchie with eachother and that at the end of the tournament you can combine to have a deck thats not to bad springan timethief are not perfect but its fun to play them together
Warrior's triumph was my FIRST Yu-Gi-Oh deck; and I don't regret it 😂 Sadly, it was bad in comparison to the zombie deck that was pretty common back on my playgrounds ):
actualy i would like to see a house tourny with deck builder sets with card only from the boxes so amazing defenders only from the box or cards in the architype or atleast next deck builder we get you guys should try to hold a duel vid with it
A Structure Deck format would probably need some tweaking on what could and couldn't go in. Or most people will just gravitate towards the most competitive of the current Structure decks, and push all the other decks out.
Would love that kind of format. I'm more casual but I keep up with meta. I play dark magician 🎩 so I will never play locals struture decks would give me a chance
Said that to my brother once i forget which format but we were falling out of yugioh and was like how about deck builder duels He was like alright ill play full power sky striker since all core cards are deck builder or vampire with their searchable omni negate lol
I mean, playing at some locals and in friendship groups, we often play these kind of decks. Ye some1 always brings something a much higher power level lol.
Battlewasps. They got released way later then their anime counterparts, got no support since then, they got effects hindering them from anime archetype, dident have collectors rares like Japan, it’s a shame because they could have been a good rogue deck also due to their split win condition
It would be really cool if that happened, but for that we would need a significant mass of players who would like to do that. Well, I think it's sticking with the alternate formats and custom cards for now. Day 457 waiting for NOT BROKEN support for Venom.
Yes but now I think there doing smarting things like reprinting good cards in lower rarity’s making structure decks with new support for older ok ark types pushing them way up in gameplay and also making them new support for multiple arc types in bulk
What made me disappointed about the Charmer Structure Deck was that they didn't put effort into it meanwhile, every other archetypes like Shaddolls, Sacred Beasts, Crystal Beasts, and Traptrix were given better and more supports and enough cards to supply them to function more as a deck. Charmers only got 5 new cards but at best you only use 2-3 of them. They have no boss monster, no retrains of the Familiar-Possessed monsters (the Channelers I won't count because they're just too generic of cards to be called retrains when they don't support their own archetype at all), no link Charmers, and 5 tokens that have no purpose other than to look at the cute artworks that should have been made as new cards. I love this archetype so much but Konami needs to hurry up and fix them, especially when we still have a lot more cards missing to give them and all they ever do is give us 1 card every 6+ months, heck we haven't seen a new card anyways since Power of the Elements and who knows if we'll ever see one in Duelist Nexus.
no link charmers? there are 6 link charmers actually but i agree that they don't see so much support, they would need an extra deck monster to protect continous spells/traps, so a charmer player would not surrender after the first spell/trap destruction, and maybe something to let level 5 familiar to be useful in the hand instead of just bricks
@vonakakkola it matters because it's a Charmer structure deck and leaving out the links feels underwhelming and disappointing regardless of how the SD is or how generic the link Charmers are. That's like if let's say Ice Barriers didn't have the synchro monsters in their structure deck, that's the disappointment you would feel.
I’d love to play something like that, but I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, it is so damn hard to get yugioh players to show up to alternative formats it has little hope of ever happening 😂 It would need a major push from Konami to get off the ground imo and it would be quite a risk for them.
Sounds like it would be fun really. Might want to push it out more localized as I generally feel those who attend such events are going there to sweat it out, or as said, the salty "serious" players drop from the main roster then go on to stomp all over what the "fun" one is supposed to be because they want an easy win.

I still stick with Goukis, Earth Machines, Ursarctics, and im still hoping for future support for the Reactors/Skyfire archetype since morphtronics got some and im still holding on to that endeavor lol
Dragonmaids when I first came across them felt really fun but fell off quick by a lot of combo decks with like 4+ counters and you get maybe 2-3 and you can't do anything about it. They've been needing new support for awhile to at least make it drivable for current meta to at least have a fighting chance.
I am playing Rescue-ace and i really enjoy them, yes its hard to win against those higher lvl decks but i go kinda even at locals with it ( mostly because of hitting time and explaining others and letting them read what they do 😅 ) but i wont mind more support for it😇
*STRUCTURE DECK BATTLE ROYAL*
looking forward to that!
How far back you guys going with the Structures? Cuz I have not ever gotten the Fire Emperor from the first fire structure deck to do it's thing
Zombie decks NEVER get any love despite how incredibly creative and complex you can be with them.
Fire decks as a bonus too.
Man, LV cards need desperate support.
I use a goated format LV deck on Master Duel, which inevitably hurts my soul.
Also I find as well there is so many decks that no one plays it’s sad… I love to play Gimmick Puppets but it’s so difficult to play a pure Gimmick puppet deck 😂
I also play Frightfur which is a really decent going second deck but I find it can’t compete with the meta!
Solfachord was actually my first deck. I love it to bits, it's such a wonderful archetype
I want a Six Samurai & Elemental hero NEOS deck with the contact fusions etc.
We ate too good on master duel during the legend anthology. That was one of the best events.
Still waiting on more Empowered Warriors and better Fortune Lady Support
Yeah man, Fortune Lady supports. Much needed. That deck is just unplayable.
Purrely is actually a competitive deck in the OCG, and it’ll probably be the same here once Cyberstorm Access comes out.
And honestly, I really like the idea of a deckbuilder's format.
You have a problem with structure deck tournaments where it's the same deck? Try playing 3 traptrix mirrors in a row. Nothing works!
I'd love a format that allows lower powered decks to be played. For example, I want to play magikey and amazoness or mellfy, but it gets so discouraging because everyone at my locals is playing decks built around their attempts at handling kashtira
where is summoned skull support? my favorite card since day one
Love that Alec references Power Rangers S.P.D.
Huge Power Rangers fan and Yugioh player here!
Geminis and war rock
Deck builder deck format would be so fun!
i like the deck builder sets . i can buy a booster box and my friends will build the deck off what will pull to the type we want from the one boster box . we split the cards up due to the deck we choose. Its alot of fun that way we see how they compare to eachother . A tounry with the deck builders would be fun to see at events .
So what exactly is a deck builder set? Im only recently started playing again on master duel. Haven’t played since synchros came out in the tcg
Ironically enough some of the best decks came out of deck build packs
I can't complain, but it's funny how the Traptrix SD has repeated trap holes and well as 2 mekk knights, a couple random plant cards that have probably never been used with traptrix, way too many staples and yet it lacks basic traptrix mainstays like Parallel Exceed, Torrential Tribute, Time Space Trap hole and treacherous trap hole.
I can probably understand why parallel isn't there since only having one in the deck makes it unplayable, but still.
Majespecters got crippled by mr4 and recently in dark wing blast we got our first wave of support since its release. And it was one card XD.
Umi control got this treatment. Love the deck but it gets no love
The support for Queen's Knight, King's Knight and Joker's Knight is mainly to summon the Egyptian Gods so its more like Egyptian God support.
Warrior's triumph was my FIRST Yu-Gi-Oh deck; and I don't regret it 😂
Sadly, it was bad in comparison to the zombie deck that was pretty common back on my playgrounds ):
I hate when a tier zero deck comes along and I just can’t play the game at all for like 3-6 months
Still wanting to see some more support for a restrict deck.
Deck builder house tournament!!
How about lunas ancient fairy dragon!!!
actualy i would like to see a house tourny with deck builder sets with card only from the boxes so amazing defenders only from the box or cards in the architype or atleast next deck builder we get you guys should try to hold a duel vid with it
I'm a fan of constellar tellarknight myself, idk how viable it is with the correct support.
They recently got more support and it seems pretty serviceable to me
zombies need more love... but instead we get a 30th cyberse deck
That boy feeling himself with the fresh cut
Myutants is another one that is a lot of fun and was kind of forgoten now, after battle of chaos
I'm wanting ABC-VW-XYZ Machine support. They can even call it Alphabetic Armageddon
They could let you guys write the format for the structure tournaments, I enjoy those videos alot
Where's my wing weaver support
Tell everybody about THE STRUCTURE DECK BATTLE ROYALE!!!!!!! LESS GGGOOOO
would love to see simple graphics/ image of the cards spoken about
I would play ice barriers because it’s one my favorite archetypes
Still waiting for the light attribute link monster and traps for Sky Strikers
Said that to my brother once i forget which format but we were falling out of yugioh and was like how about deck builder duels
He was like alright ill play full power sky striker since all core cards are deck builder or vampire with their searchable omni negate lol
This is why Yugioh needs formats..
What’s the background music from?
I mean, playing at some locals and in friendship groups, we often play these kind of decks. Ye some1 always brings something a much higher power level lol.
I play evil eye archetype on master duel. I think I may actually be the only one. I have never run into one before
Battlewasps. They got released way later then their anime counterparts, got no support since then, they got effects hindering them from anime archetype, dident have collectors rares like Japan, it’s a shame because they could have been a good rogue deck also due to their split win condition
2:15 light speed rescue
It would be really cool if that happened, but for that we would need a significant mass of players who would like to do that. Well, I think it's sticking with the alternate formats and custom cards for now.
Day 457 waiting for NOT BROKEN support for Venom.
truly we are in a re discovery age. this is good content
Yes but now I think there doing smarting things like reprinting good cards in lower rarity’s making structure decks with new support for older ok ark types pushing them way up in gameplay and also making them new support for multiple arc types in bulk
Hopefully Vaylantz doesn't end up ignored, they are just so damn cool.
Also Droplet and Lightning Storm in a structure deck soon?
I want ttt and prosperity in a SD
Rescue Ace reminds me of Rescue Heroes & Power Rangers Lightspeed Rescue
Some day, I hope Archfiends get some love rather than a random one or two off.
I love this archetype so much but Konami needs to hurry up and fix them, especially when we still have a lot more cards missing to give them and all they ever do is give us 1 card every 6+ months, heck we haven't seen a new card anyways since Power of the Elements and who knows if we'll ever see one in Duelist Nexus.
no link charmers? there are 6 link charmers actually
but i agree that they don't see so much support, they would need an extra deck monster to protect continous spells/traps, so a charmer player would not surrender after the first spell/trap destruction, and maybe something to let level 5 familiar to be useful in the hand instead of just bricks
@@vonakakkola when I said no link Charmers I meant not in the structure deck
@@IamJerf ah ok, but is it really matter? even with link charmers this archetype lacks the protection it needs
I’d love to play something like that, but I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, it is so damn hard to get yugioh players to show up to alternative formats it has little hope of ever happening 😂
It would need a major push from Konami to get off the ground imo and it would be quite a risk for them.
Sounds like it would be fun really. Might want to push it out more localized as I generally feel those who attend such events are going there to sweat it out, or as said, the salty "serious" players drop from the main roster then go on to stomp all over what the "fun" one is supposed to be because they want an easy win.
What about a format where all limited and semi-limited cards are just forbidden along the already forbidden ones? :))
And staples are just cut out.
