It's always interesting to hear your bratz perspectives considering you don't have the nostalgia factor for/with them and Bratz arguable works almost primarily off of catering to that while trying to find some freshness. I definitely agree that they *could* do a few things differently - be more articulated, have shoes that are completely interchangeable - but if I'm honest I think that would take away they bratziness and almost ruin things? Like the repros are unarticulated because that's the nostalgic part and the shoes and everything else were what set them apart as their own thing so to change it wouldn't make much sense IMO. As far as RH? I think we can arguably say now that it's been scrambling for a good year and a half to two years now. 2022 gave us 50 plus dolls of mostly new characters and put a major strain on collectors & buyers for children alike and all the pricing on those different lines were super inconsistent to boot which was extra confusing since all were on shelves at the same time. 2023's dolls all came with a trade-off on what I would consider their signature thing - multiple fashions to showcase personality/personal style - for more play accessories and I do wonder if this is simply a case of a line running its course. Adults always loved RH but I wonder about kids and if that core audience requested this soft reboot and any potential major changes. For right now it seems too early to link one to the other - unless they directly say so - and I do think it's only the timing that makes it so. If we get multiple waves of always bratz or updated versions of characters vs. repros then maybe we can revisit but for now it seems too early to tell IMO.
I work with children, and it's really interesting to see what they want vs. what a collector like me wants. When kids are talking about their favorite dolls, LOL, Bratz, and Monster High are consistently well-liked. Rainbow High, however, seems to be more divided. Kids either LOVE their faces or are totally creeped out by them. Specifically, kids who don't like RH cite their eyes as the element that creeps them out. Which is funny, because I see that feature as an indication of quality. I think that the popularity of the Bratz trend and the cultural zeitgeist has made Bratz faces look a lot less stylized to children. Additionally, brand recognition is probably playing a large part in MGAs strategy right now. Why spend a ton of money on marketing when a parent will walk the toy aisles and buy based off of nostalgia? With that being said, this whole situation sucks because I was 100% a Bratz kid AND I collect Rainbow High. There was a place for both of them in the toy aisle, and I’m bitter about the RH budget cuts because I don't think they were necessary. But… that's business for ya!
I like Bratz, but I LOVE RH...I'm grieving too. I got my Barbie love for that size of doll. I really liked the size of RH...don't know what it is, but we fans just know.
I agree with you RH started my doll collecting, too, because Vanessa was one of the prettiest dolls I'd ever seen. I'm so disappointed with this soft reboot. I'm more interested in Monster High than Bratz though I bought a few of them.
Me too. I diden't like the Bratz's faces when I was 8 and they were popular, and I can confirm that I still don't like them. While I understand that other people likes Bratz better, I'm sad that they diverted Rainbow high budget for dolls I do not care for.
I love good quality dolls.- I started collecting Bratz in 2002…til 2007 because I was inbox collector…running out of room. Then half of my collection was stolen by the movers back in 2017. I happen saw LOL OMG doll first time on clearance in spring of 2021. I flipped by awesome quality of that doll..that restarted my collection. Then I started to noticed RH first time almost at same time I started collecting LOL OMG dolls. Then Bratz are making comeback with reproduction…so I was collecting all three lines. I am still collecting RH with soft reboot…they still are beautiful the way I looked at it being as SPARKLING LINE. I am very ecastic to see ALWAYS BRATZ new line…along with reproductions since some of my OG dolls were stolen few years ago. I am cutting off my collection of LOL OMG dolls, but I sincerely hope RH will continue. I had to wait and see what RH will come next. I am so much looking forward Bratz because that is when I first start collecting Bratz back in 2002.,
I’m really happy for Bratz fans. I never connected with these dolls, personally, because I found their faces hard to relate to. Rainbow High hit a sweet spot for me: fashion-forward but with soft expressions. I don’t begrudge Bratz fans anything. Sincerely, I hope they get an amazing run this year and into the future. However, I do wish MGA could keep up the quality for both lines. 💔
Totally agree! RH would be such a difficult brand to lose, but we’ll see how this goes. Bratz is so iconic and beloved, it definitely deserves its comeback. Thanks for watching!
When Bratz debuted I was graduating high school and was being pressured to get rid of my barbies, so I did. And then started collecting them. I had the originals, Meygan, Dana, the twins, the little sister version's and a few guys. Never got the motorcycle but I was buying the barbie Fashion Fever furniture for them. I was in love with them so much and had a hefty collection and wished they had articulation from the start but the shoe peg feet were definitely novel. Rock Angels was a hell of a line and I still have my cd. I did end up donating the entire collection and then some to a family that lost everything in a tornado but I wish I had kept the midnight dance trio. If I could have any of them back I'd pick them. With MGA killing their current golden goose for the former I am disappointed because I've outgrown Bratz. I'm 40 now, not 18. Sorry but the RH & SH dolls really spoke to my heart and to see them go only after 3yrs is like a slap in the face. Sure, I'll root more for Bratz than Barbie though but MGA is losing my money.
Not happy with this personally. I don't collect Bratz, and the only ones I have ever considered are older very expensive dolls. So I will not be purchasing them, or any of the new ones. I liked the beautiful outfits from RH which are now gone, and SH dolls. So unless they come out with some really nice RH/SH dolls, I'll be moving on to another doll company. Not sure who right now; I do already collect MH, and minimal Barbie; but I plan to research what other brands are out there. I think this whole move on mga's part isn't smart, and as you said, they could have still made RH dolls just taking turns or something; not this total degradation of such a good doll line. For those who love Bratz, I'm happy, but they are not for me :(
It’s definitely a frustrating time to be a Rainbow High fan! It offered something so special & so valuable to adult collectors. We’ll have to see where things go from here…maybe assumptions are wrong…? 😅 But for the time being it is nice Bratz fans are getting their moment, and I’m still curious to see what else they’ll do with this comeback. Thanks for watching! -Max
I prefer Rainbow High to Bratz. The best thing about Bratz for me is the Y2K fashion, and that’s because of my age. I am looking forward to the My Scene dolls, and I’m crossing my fingers we might still get some collector Rainbow High dolls later this year or next.
I am a new collector and thought Barbie would be my favorite doll until 2023! I am now really into Rh/Sh dolls! I didn’t know what I was missing, because I always reached for the other doll! I love them past and up to 2023. I think The Brats are sweet dolls and have nice fashion but they don’t have the rooted eyes lashes like RH/SH dolls! - They remind me of the old school dolls that I had as a little girl!( like Chatty Kathy) I rather not have dolls with painted on eye lashes! I planned to get all the previous RH/SH I have respect for those who like the RH reboot! That’s cool, but I am not into slim! My daughter still has her childhood original Bratz dollsand dvds! -If the company comes out with a Bratz doll with rooted eyelashes, then maybe I would consider it!😂👏🏾👏🏾
I used to be obsessed with Bratz when I was little but as an adult collector I was so upset when I realized that none of Bratz fashion fits any of my other dolls. If my dolls can’t share clothes I don’t want them
That's the main reason I don't like them too much. Also, they all have the same face mold, and the feet coming off is weird. I actually think Moxie Girls were cuter.
Very this - I’ve always been bummed MGA dolls’ gorgeous clothes are so hard to share across multiple brands! With a slight exception of Rainbow High… 🥲 -Max
With pricing in the UK being more than rainbow high I think that could be a problem for the brats comeback as well as releasing the products in specific county's being a bit iffy
Bratz is a snooze fest for me. I came to doll collecting from harajuku fashions like decora and yumekawaii and fairykei, japanese idol anime looks, and lolita fashion. I never was on the bratz collectors list. The closest Bratz could ever be to was Yamikawaii and pride, but it will never be that. That's not who Bratz is. If I don't get my rainbow high babies (with series 4 and 5 level quality and articulation) I don't want dolls at all. And I spent hundreds of dollars, maybe close to a thousand. MGA can kiss that money goodbye. And they can deal with me shouting on the internet about RH has gone to shit and how bad they are. Fight me. That's what they pay.
I'm an adult collector, and I was a kid when Bratz first came out. I didn't like Bratz then. I didn't like how harsh the faces felt, and I still don't like them. I like dolls with softer faces, and Rainbow High was actually the line that got me into doll collecting to start with. They were high quality, they were luxurious, they were everything I would ever want in a doll. And now.. so much of what I loved is being destroyed.. to bring back a brand I never cared about
I can see how this may be a very exciting time for people who grew up with Bratz, but a very difficult time for those who loved RH and have no nostalgic attachment to Bratz. RH was truly in a league of its own during its prime. I’ll miss it terribly if it continues to head in this reboot direction & ultimately phases out. 🥲 We’ll have to see. Thanks for watching! -Max
Ok, if someone who's seen brats come and go. I've just never really been impressed with them. It's a combination of the articulation. In face, I preferred brazilas. I wish they had had a longer run. That's probably why I liked monster high/rainbow high over brats. It's because of all those things.
Personally I don’t know how much of a reboot/relaunch this is. New dolls ? Yes but that doesn’t really mean comeback. They still don’t seem to be marketing at kids so far neither did they introduce this as new, have a new show, new logo or anything. Nothing that says relaunch. It simply seems like a “reproduction” for adults in mind that are available at retail stores
I think Bratz are okay but prefer other MGA dolls way more, Bratzillaz, Moxie Teenz, PMC2, RH, OMG, even Mermaze from the waist up. I'm fine with a Bratz comeback but not to the detriment of RH and OMG. If I had to choose between a Bratz in a great outfit and a slime Rainbow High, I'd still favor the RH doll but I might not buy either since one is lacking what it used to have and the other doll's big lips, big feet, and old-school body sculpt isn't as much my aesthetic.
Honestly sis. Rainbow High has been slacking for a minute. I just got my first doll from last series, Kim, and she was a gift. I’m going to get Aiden…but other than that. I have no interest in this last wave. It’s sad to see RH go but it was fun while they were hear.
Rainbow high is still not slacking as hard as Barbie at least...(Playline wise, because I refuse to pay over 70$ for a doll so I don't even consider collectors rip). The only Barbies worth anything to me are the made to move ones (and I usually harvest them for their body), because to me articulation is the most important thing as I like to pose my dolls.
Think Bratzillaz was interesting but they had the same quality as Barbie to me. Bratz now and before 2015 was based largely on textured clothes which I think bring the quality Very Very high
I am an adult collector and never had a Bratz doll and I don't think I will give in now. They do look great, just not my aesthetic, but I am always happy for those who want them and to see new dolls on the shelves. I do think MGA took budget from Rainbow High and LOL OMG suprise both of which have a reduction of articulation and stands for LOL. Hopefully this will be temporary. I think it's interesting that My Scene is coming back now and honestly I find it amusing because it seems Mattel took from Extra and other lines to fund My Scene. Can't wait to see how it plays out.
I an not a fan of the Bratz dolls. I don't care for the squinty eyes and huge lips on all of them. Rainbow/Shadow High Dolls on the other hand....I got hooked when I bought Scarlett Rose. Loved her outfit, face, and accessories. Now I have 13. I think they are gorgeous. Not big on the reboot slime/glitter ones though.
Do we have any word on the story with Dolls? I’m kind of hoping they might compete with rainbow high in terms of their old quality but I’m also kind of a sucker for fantasy Dolls so maybe that’s just me also, I’m really sad about the decline rainbow light because it means we will never get a rainbow high ball gown, silhouette in their original quality lol but maybe the story would Dolls will give us that? A girl can dream lol. sorry for any typos I’m blind so I speak into my phone and it doesn’t always get what I say correct
It has been radio silence on Storywood so far, to my knowledge, which is wild to me…it was such big news when that leaked! Hopefully MGA is taking their time to produce something great. We’ll definitely cover it here on the channel once more news breaks! Thanks for commenting and your support! 💕 -Max
@@ToyChat yeah I’m desperately hoping for more news. See what you want about MGA but their quality seems to be a lot better than Mattel recently so I’m getting more into their doll lines. And I absolutely adore fantasy dolls, so I’m really hoping these are going to be on the quality of the old rainbow high, and that will get a ballgown silhouette finally lol. it’s all I want

I too think Bratz and RH (Rainbow High) in the toy aisle.
I agree that Bratz snatched RH budget and focus.
I like Bratz, but I LOVE RH...I'm grieving too. I got my Barbie love for that size of doll. I really liked the size of RH...don't know what it is, but we fans just know.
Rainbow High is something special, truly - the adult collectors know! 😭
I’m sad about rainbow high. They were honestly the dolls that got me into collecting

Yes ! I want Bratzilla back too !
Like…they were so good and deserved more!! Here’s hoping! 🙏

18:00 well as the Perspektive from a teen Sasha’s outfit is very much a modern trend
Same. Grieving RH fan here as well. I won’t be purchasing any Bratz.

Fashions come back. I'm 54, but in my early 2,000s ,for us 30 yr Olds, it was 70s fashions that came back.

Mattel had Asian, Black and hispanic dolls when Bratz came out. Unlike Bratz each doll had a different face mold.
Yes!
