You made an illegal move with the cultist around 17:00 min. You skipped over sea space #2 entirely to land in Tokyo. you had 1 sea ticket and moved 3 spaces - a ticket only gives you 1 extra move. also remember that sea/ train tickets CANNOT be used on uncharted paths. they're uncharted, they have no train tracks.
Man I've been thinking about getting this game, this video is really cool and the game seems great. I'll continue to check out the rest of the gameplay when I have the time. Thank you!
2 mistakes in your video: 1. The final mystery isnt the 4th mystery, it is referring to the mystery that can be found at the back of AO card. 2. Jen not suppose to reach Tokyo and travel ticket only allow you to move 1 additional space only. She should stop at the Sea space which connect between San Francisco and Tokyo. Great runthrough though!
Lost Carcosa? The King in Yellow references? I'M. SO. SOLD. Strange is the night where black stars rise, And strange moons circle through the skies, But stranger still is Lost Carcosa. Songs that the Hyades shall sing, Where flap the tatters of the King, Must die unheard in Dim Carcosa.
***** Sorry man, I should clarify. H.P. Lovecraft was heavily influenced by the writings of Robert W. Chambers. Specifically the book by chambers called "The King in Yellow". Lost Carcosa feature's prominently in that book. In particular, the idea of a book which drives you insane if you read it (like the Necronomicon) was stolen from Chambers. The Yellow Sign will drive you crazy if you see it. Also, if you have seen the first season of the HBO series, "True Detective", Carcosa features in that too.
Wow thank you so much for this nice tutorial. Helped me a lot. May I ask if you have ever considered doing a Arkham horror tutorial? I just enjoy your tutorials and would love to see you play Arkham horror :D
Clues in Arkham Horror used to allow you to roll additional dice, not reroll them (it's important if, say, you rolled 2 dice, both were successful, but you need 3 successes). I'm not sure if it's different in Eldritch Horror or you've made a little mistake there.
So you say that whenever you spawn a gate that a monster always spawns out of it aswell, does this mean that at the start of the game 2 monsters spawn because the guide card says to do a monster surge at the start of the game?
+rahdo ah that sucks, I'm gonna buy this game at some point anyway but the rules pdf on the Internet I have been reading also does not make it clear. Thanks for the reply regardless.
at 11:11 you lose 1 sanity to re-roll the dice, but that can only happen if you already have a clue that you otherwise would have to have spent. Did you really have a clue with you already at the beginning of the game? If not, you could not have used that ability. Edit: looks like I'm wrong and you don't need to have a clue already in order to use it.
Richard clearly said that normally you have to use a clue to re-roll a die... and then he said that his character allows him to spend 1 sanity instead of 1 Clue... so that's what he did... is that wrong? if so, can you please link me to the part of the rules that says this is wrong? Thanks
I took "in place of spending" to mean you needed to have the clue with you in the first place, that you could have spent. Not being able to effectively create clues out of thin air by spending sanity. Seems like I was wrong, as per this thread: community.fantasyflightgames.com/topic/106130-norman-withers-passive-ability/. Sorry.
+Paulo Renato 18:00 I reviewed the rules. You definitely can only have one encounter only, whether or not it's location or a token encounter. I'm mistaken.
I know I made a few goofs in the vid, but I thought I always did this correctly! :) If I made a mistake somewhere, please let me know when it happened and I'll add a note to the vid! Thanks!!! :)
***** I just checked, and I did spawn a creature when the Tokyo gate came out, but it was the serpent people so they subsequently moved to the Amazon, leaving Tokyo undefended :)
Amazing runthrough! Can't Wait for Russian Railroads! Can't wait to play it! I'm very hyped! I don't care if Cthulhu eats the world as long as I have my Russian choo choo...
sorry to say it's been so long since i played, i don't remember specifics. but here's a link to a forum where you're sure to get an answer: boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/146021/eldritch-horror/forums/0
No, i'm pretty sure Shub is female. An official fantasy flight administrator told me on the official forum of the game. And ancient ones don't "born" when the doom track reaches zero, they wake up from their slumber.
well, from the various source material, i guess it's still open to interpretation: www.spiritualsatanist.com/articles/summon/shubniggurath.html how about we go with "it"? :)
See?! Taken from the link you just posted: "As the consort of Yog-Sothoth, she gave birth to two monsters, Nug and Yeb. Shub-Niggurath is called the Goat of A Thousand Young, and the God-Mother and she represents the creative force of destruction."
EH is a nice addition to the series, gaming group really enjoys the setting but EH plays a little faster than AH or MoM with more straightforward rules. Expansions coming in 3...2...1...
i recall someone actually mentioned that Shub is neither male nor female, as genders as we understand them don't apply to the ancient ones, but still, no reason to take a chance raising the ire of lady Shub, so I do apologize, your dark majesty! :)
The ability to trade 1 sanity for a clue doesn't count as an action? If this count, then you made 3 action in the begining: 1 to cast a spell, 1 to use the caracter ability and another to buy a ticket...
It doesn't count as an action because it isn't an action, it's not labeled Action on the sheet... it's the character special power that can be used once per turn
I watch these videos but most of the time rahdo is more confusing than helpful. talks way too fast and fuzzy I guess, screws up the rules, goes back and forth performing actions, talks about 10 things he can do... its a little frustrating
No, its not. None of the Great Old Ones have a gender as we understand them. Shub-Niggurath is sometimes incorrectly referred to as "she" because it's sometimes worshiped as a fertility deity.
Wrong from the start. The guy's power is not to spend sanity to gain a clue, it's to spend sanity instead of spending a clue. READ THE FRICKIN' CARD!!!
I love how enthusiastic you are about the games and your choices. You make me want to play everything that you review!
Mike Seary where are the uncharted paths? I don’t recall these or where they are.
andizzle195 Uncharted Paths are color coded in Yellow, Sea Lanes are color coded in Gray/White, and Train Tracks are color coded in Red.
I also noticed the illegal move. I find mistakes good in these vids. Means we are picking up whats correct.
Man I've been thinking about getting this game, this video is really cool and the game seems great. I'll continue to check out the rest of the gameplay when I have the time. Thank you!
dude. this is by far the absolute BEST board game overview i have ever watched and ive gone through quite a few. awesome job man! keep it up
Great runthrough! I especially enjoy how caffeinated you seem! :) thx for posting
2 mistakes in your video:
1) yeah i spoke poorly... I meant what you said, but will add a note :)
2) d'oh! i completely ignored that wheel! silly me :)
Very useful runthrough but I'm out of breath just watching you.
This brought me a lot of much needed clarification. Thank you!
You make this game seem so simple... The book makes it seem overwhelming.
lepruk86 agreed. Rahdo has a great way of cruising through the game overview
This is one of my favorite games. I have only played it twice and have yet to win.
Lost Carcosa? The King in Yellow references? I'M. SO. SOLD.

Lost Carcosa.

+Aubryn Elaina Have you seen the yellow sign?? :)
Wasn't Jen supposed to stop at the sea space before Tokyo ( 17:24 ), because she spent only 1 ticket?
yeah, i was a total dunce there. note added :)
Awesome in depth review. I just got this today so thanks for guiding me through it!
@22:45 "Lost Carcosa" - Have you seen the Yellow Sign?
nope...
***** Sorry man, I should clarify. H.P. Lovecraft was heavily influenced by the writings of Robert W. Chambers. Specifically the book by chambers called "The King in Yellow". Nice! You're good explaining stuff. Thanx!
I wonder if you're ever trying Moral Conflict (1940 or other)
never heard of it! i assume a war game? not really our bag :)
If you watch this video on 2x you actually get to see the only video on UA-cam that has a 4x feature
great run-through of an amazing game, thanks!
I'll probably be getting this myself in the near future
Fast and precise. Well played.
Wow thank you so much for this nice tutorial. Helped me a lot. May I ask if you have ever considered doing a Arkham horror tutorial? I just enjoy your tutorials and would love to see you play Arkham horror :D
+Duke Starflare nope probably not. we're really not a fan of that game! :)
+rahdo oooohhh okay :D.
Btw thanks for the nice tutorial again :D
great intro. I just got this game and you have helped a lot. GREAT VID!!
nice but this is just a thought, in the Mansions of madness expansion there are figures right, cant some of them be used in this game as markers ?....
i dont see why not :)

yup, it's a change in EH. for ever clue you sacrifice, you can re-roll one die :)
***** similar to Elder Sign where you can spend clues to re-roll dice
So you say that whenever you spawn a gate that a monster always spawns out of it aswell, does this mean that at the start of the game 2 monsters spawn because the guide card says to do a monster surge at the start of the game?
sorry, it's been so long since i played the game and did this runthrough (over 2 years i think) i don't really remember the particulars anymore :(
+rahdo ah that sucks, I'm gonna buy this game at some point anyway but the rules pdf on the Internet I have been reading also does not make it clear. Thanks for the reply regardless.

Shub-Niggurath "The Black Goat of the Woods"
I think you can have both the location encounter and an token encounter during the encounter phase.
+teriyakipuppy timestamp please
+Paulo Renato 18:00 I reviewed the rules. You definitely can only have one encounter only, whether or not it's location or a token encounter. I'm mistaken.
+teriyakipuppy cool thanks :)
This game looks interesting! I would like to try it in the future.
You are awesome keep making more of these
i just get savaged and brutalized every time i play this..
probably because i couldnt roll a 5 or 6 if i rolled 10 dice at a time.
When gates are spawned, you are supposed to place a monster at the gate. Page 7 of the reference guide under gate.
I know I made a few goofs in the vid, but I thought I always did this correctly! :) If I made a mistake somewhere, please let me know when it happened and I'll add a note to the vid! Thanks!!! :)
at the beginning for the gate that spawned in Tokyo. Gates that are spawned at setup also have a monster placed.
***** I just checked, and I did spawn a creature when the Tokyo gate came out, but it was the serpent people so they subsequently moved to the Amazon, leaving Tokyo undefended :)
*****
Thanks for showing me the game. :) and of course my error.
This is such a great game. Thanks for the great review.
I think the game is hard with more players...
But yeah expansions should make this game harder.
Thx for the vid
Amazing runthrough! Can't Wait for Russian Railroads! Can't wait to play it! I'm very hyped! I don't care if Cthulhu eats the world as long as I have my Russian choo choo...
"Unfortunate name" classic!
Yeah, well, he could have chosen a different monster if he didn't want to keep saying the name..
Hello! When can I throw away an item I no longer need?

You never get a randon condition (afaik), so it’s kinda pointless to shuffle the deck.
Loved your video, game looks interesting, gonna buy it ^_^
I really hope this game doesn't spoil the book
You made me want to try this, thanks!
You address Shub as a "guy" or as "him". Shub is FEMALE!
i recall someone actually mentioned that Shub is neither male nor female, as genders as we understand them don't apply to the ancient ones, but still, no reason to take a chance raising the ire of lady Shub, so I do apologize, your dark majesty! :)
Shub-Niggurath is a "chick", by the way.
LOL I was going to say this.
Rahdo, lay off that third line of speed next time.

understood
I don't play very often with the old man, but for what this ability does I thought it was an action... my mistake
to be a "component action" it must first say "ACTION" in bold before the actual text
Thank you mate!
Cool. i will add your videos to my google+ EH community.
russian railroads next?

They say lovecraft was a racist and his writings had allusions to back people.
Maybe that name was not so unfortunate...
It's pronounced differently and it's the Latin word for black. But yes, Lovecraft was a RIDICULOUS racist.
Came here expecting the steam game.........
PUPPY!
Isn't her name not Jen? Lmao
Shub is a she :-)
my apologies to the lady! :)

A bit aggressive there... did we have a bad day?? Chill man... no need to have a stroke!
and he corrected himself with notes in thee video...
