I think this is the first lip roll tutorial video I've seen that includes sounds I'm able to make, which seems like a good sign. And I can basically follow you through step 4. But when it comes to step 5, I think I'm getting a sound that's somewhere between your soft and strong tension examples. To me, it does sound more towards the bassy side, but it's not as far as you. I suppose that's not bad, it just gives a somewhat different sound. A little more info on the tension aspect and tuning the vibration, that you didn't have time for here, might be nice to see. Also, what's the trick to getting the sound that other tutorials call the lip roll, the sort of short one that drops in pitch quickly? I don't know how to describe it well, but most other people's tutorials have it.

@@MRMiC_Tv Thanks! I think that would be really helpful. Also, in playing around a bit more, I should say that I normally try to make this sound without breathing in, and that's when I can get a deeper sound. If I try to do it inhaling, as I think you do here, the sound tends to be higher pitched. Probably some combination of lip tension and inhale speed, I guess, but it's hard for me to tell for sure. I'm not very good, and I just play around with beatboxing for fun to amuse myself. Thanks again.

I can get pretty much the sound although I’m not great at the control yet. But I CANNOT get rid of the overwhelming sound of air getting sucked in. How do I fix that? So I have to use less air and loosen my lips more? And some say to not use your lungs at all but when I just use my tongue i can only make the sound for like a second
This is my first sound i've learned. Love the powerfull bass you can produce with it. Haha practice alot in my car while driving to work. 45 minutes. Fun to hear improvement every week. Think i'll keep practice for 1 more week then move on to a new beatbox sound.

Starting by leaving a gap has really helpes me acheive a lower sound than before but finding it's really breathy and not sure how to get rid of the hiss of air... How much air should I be taking in?

Been trying to do liproll base for a bit now, and i couldn't quite get it right. So i watched your video and my liproll goes from fart-esque sounds to a somewhat dirty, wet unrefined bass roll, but at least resemples a bass somehow.

This is the best tutorial I've found so far yet I still can't do it, Im stuck on the last step, what do you mean by tension? It of means the tension of the lips themselves, that just got rid of the sound completely, and if it's the tension of the lips being together, then that just increases the pitch. I'm so confused😭😭

Are you using your tongue to separate the liprolls at 2:09? Or just breathing in separate breaths or moving your lips?
your tongue has nothing to do here, try pull it back away from your lips. (you can always share your progression with me on Instagram)

Im stuck at step 4, in step 5 you talk about tension? are we suppose to go tighter or looser? I've been trying for over a year and cant get the sound, starting to think my mouth just cant do it
Nothing is wrong with you! You just need to get your mouth muscles and muscle memory to adapt to that movement, and it takes a little bit of practice and repetition.
I just get a high pitched vibration of the lips even if I barely touch them together. I think I'm somehow missing a step. I can get a deep base off a click roll and put it through my lips but for some reason this seems simple but not clicking for me

your tongue doesn't really do alot, so just place it where you feel comfortable the most!
