The thing that bothers me is that so many of this guys defenders keep acting like it’s so wonderful that he’s speaking truth, like it really needs to be said and can’t easily be formulated in your own head. It’s like these guys think that to talk about hypocrisy in government is some thing that needs to be broadcast like it isn’t already a parents. He might as well walk around talking about how water is wet and people should be happy because he’s speaking the truth.

I wonder if Tom’s fans actually listen to the song before commenting. I never actually see them mention a lyric. Just that they don’t like rap but love Tom’s music and that he tells the truth.

HEY we're right on the....money? *inserted dad joke because had to when it was just sitting there* I'm actually a fan of Tom's older work. I like As Far As the Stars. Killing the Neighbors was a good collab, too, if you remember it's basically a giant troll job in an album and not to take many things too seriously. Flowers for the Dead was nice. At first I thought maybe my perspective had veered too much and I just didn't like his music much anymore. But nah, I just get a nasty taste in the back of my throat when people relentlessly tell me exactly what a group or another is going to want to hear. It loses a lot of the respect I once had for Tom. Kind of sad now. Maybe I should go listen to "Lie To Me"...

An artist who started his career talking about guns, drugs, and hoes. The artist who then realized that wasn't getting him anywhere, so he created the whole persona of being against the industry rap (which he used to imitate), and stating the most obvious things about politics. It's an act and he's playing you fools. That dudes never stuck to one ideology his whole career. I mean, I personally enjoyed the sound of the song, but fair enough. I do definitely see that it's pandering garbage. I just found the music itself to be something I could enjoy basically entirely because I love the way he used the little scream rock part. That said, I stand firmly by my thoughts that ghost and balloons, his least political pandering songs of the last year or so, to be the best and/or most enjoyable ones
Yeah I appreciate that he is reaching more people but yeah I no longer am excited when he is announcing a new song coming soon.

I feel like this was the most centrist song he’s released so far. Definitely still sounds like a Tom song, but I do feel like this had less pandering and more of a uniting message overall.
Tom Macdonald is a genius and you cannot deny that. He just made a song that people "just want to hear". He truly believes in half or none of the shit he says and just says it in a character to get controversy and sharability around. You'll have people go "yooo listen to this song he spittin" or trolls using the song as some sort of source for arguments. Meanwhile all give his song and page traffic and giving him money.
My brother I know you think he's speaking to the choir but he is the voice that says the quiet part out loud. He is a messenger and I guess if you don't like the message then you just tune it out. But I've been watching reaction videos for quite some time and the amount a black people whether they're from Britain or from here or elsewhere love this man and his message and for me that says a lot! I will finish watching your reaction and then I will decide if I subscribe or not at least appreciate the fact that he is talented and so is his girlfriend Nova and the fact that his independence it's pretty phenomenal what he and his family have been able to achieve.

I haven't heard this song but having a very basic understanding of what Tom does I will guess this is about government spending, which we all know is a problem even if there is disagreement about where exactly that problem is. I will also guess that he never brings up corporate greed, or corporate welfare, even though that is also facilitated by the government.
