I own the car with a 2.4 diesel. It's fantastic, great handling, still looks great (TI version) despite being 13 years old, decently comfy for two people (back seats don't really have a lot of space). It's biggest problem is lack of a powerful, big engine that could promoting the model. The 3.2 petrol with 4 wheel drive sounds good on paper, but is definitely disappointing in performance. The car weights a lot, it's not enough. 1.75 TBI was a good attempt, but still, sounds like turbocharged toy. Wish we had an option of something along AMG version of mercedes, M version of BMW, S version of audi, or stuff like Lexus ISF. Diesels are great, but they are not fun. There is no decent petrol engine available for 159.
I agree I think it’s one of the best looking cars. The interior looks great but I don’t like the seats m, look great but aren’t very nice to use. My dream would have been the Maserati V8 and rwd but sadly it’s the platform dose not allow a proper engine

This car is heavy because is strong, it chassis support mucho more torque than it's bmw pair, all of this is due to the first design by Giuggiaro, the car was design with the holden v8's in mind and it was initiality fitted with a Maserati v8, in fact a few 159 were seen in Europe with the 4.7 Maserati , it fits on the bay and it makes sense, it was meant to compete with Porsche but, cost effective...it was dropped. Now, you have all those old Quattroporte dissasembled at USa and the engines (ferrari maserati) costs...4000 pounds. I know because I own a 159 and I dreamed with that plan...a lot.
I love mine too, with the 3.2. I think the power is perfect for a daily driver. It's enough for fun & you can use it all around they year with the 4wd system. A V8 GTA version would have been perfect, of course!
There are some supercharger kits for the 3.2 jts wich make up to 360 hp. In combination with Q4 this probably a very good balance between performance and drive ability. I have a Brera 2.2 and the chassis feels like it could deal with more than 400 hp easily

I still hoping someone made that conversion, those v8 4.2 from 2008 are very cheap now considering they are indeed ferrari engines. Alfas are amazing premium cars for those who know how to drive. You can daily drive every 1.9 diesel or 2.0, and you can go easily more than 500k km with any 2.4.
Yes they do need proper maintenance and it should be done before a light comes on. The biggest problem is that nowadays people get spoiled with 30k service intervals

Its a sporty gearbox. The car needs to be well warmed up to perform at its best, including the tires too. You can also instal a short shifter like many do.
Unfortunately this engine is not a true Alfa Romeo, it is a Holden engine block with Alfa Heads, intake, exhaust and Engine management. 260 bhp is SAE rated, closer to 230 DIN rated. The original Busso V6 3.2 was rated at 250 bhp.

It's due to carbon build-up. It's a great engine but like most performance engines, it needs special care in order to perform well (frequent oil changes, and on these High Feature units, work on the oil passages). One of these engines, carbon cleaned, with headers and a remap, pushes close to 300 hp. @@leonhennes3791 Better engine than the Busso. Just needs frequent oil changes and carbon cleaning. With headers and a remap it makes close to 300 hp, whereas a 3.2 Busso with the same modifications can only manage 270 hp.
Keep in mind the JTS also has to pull 350 kg over the Busso, as well as the Q4 system which generates huge drivetrain losses at high speeds.
Yes oil changes are very important this one had just gotten a new engine since the old one had seized due to sludge oil even so the previous owner had done all oil changes in time.
That car is missing the turbo nm of modern engines. with the right engine and RWD it could be one of the most desirable cars on the market

Oil temp don’t work
This is very very slow for a 260hp small sedan.
Great looking car but the engines and driverrain are simply disappointing.
3.2 JTS is probably in top 3 worst engines ever made
Sadly you are right.
I don't understand why they chose the least reliable engine GM has to offer.
Also feels a lot less powerfull than it should
They should stick with legendary "Busso", best v6 engine ever made :)
Bho'...

I have this car and it is a piece of sh!t. So slow. Only has HP above 4.500 RPM.
First gear goes straight to 7000 RPM. Then shifting to second it takes so long to get to 4500 RPM and get some horsepower. You can get 120 km/h in 2nd gear, and go easily to 160 / 170 in 3rd. But the shifting from 1st to 2nd is horrible. Also why is there no power < 4000 RPM? I can't understand..
its so pretty but the engine is disappointment, sounds good but neds alot more power
Your shifting is horrible, that poor classic.
Yeah I’m not proud of my shifts in this video. I’m not gone lie I struggled with the gearbox
Manchmal sollte man auch mal schalten. Das tut ja schon weh . Meine Güte
