We are the official search squad. We are engaged in the search and burial lost Red Army soldiers/
If we can to know their names, we looking for relatives and bury them on their native land with all the honors.
All iron similar to weapons and ammunition we give away to police. Sometimes some samples are deactivated directly in the forest for subsequent transfer to museums.
We do not sell the finds.
If we find German soldiers, we transfer the remains or their location to an organization that is looking for German soldiers in Russia.
This is not our job. It's our Hobby. We are doing this for the sake of interest and heartfelt satisfaction, in order to contribute to history not in words but in deed

У нас в 2004г газ природный вели, МТЗ с барой траншею рыл и череп выкопал, но никто не среагировал. Я его за забор в огород положил , лежал месяца 3 , потом куда-то делся . А другие останки может так и лежат....

Good to see someone still caring of these fallen soldiers. I live on the end of the Eastern Front, my town was captured by 61st Guards Tank Brigade and parts of 7th Guards Mechanised Corps on March 18, 1945. The frontline stopped on surrounded villages called Schnellewalde (Шнеллевалде), Wackenau (Вакенау), Graflish Wiese (Грефлих Визе), Eichausel (Айххеузель) Soviet 43rd and 115th Infantry Corps continued fighting here until May 9, 1945. Fights for Айххеузель were massive. This village is surrounded by strategic hills, they were fighting on all of them. Especially hill marked "385.1" on Russian maps. About 400 Soviets and 1100 Germans died on this hill between March 21st (when Germans took this hill) and May 9th (when Germans capitulated) the trenches are still there and there are tons of relics from these fights lying everywhere. Aftee the war this region became part of Poland. Unfortunately I fell like I'm the only one here who cares about Soviet side of these fights and would thank them for their effort in this war. When someone here finds anything German, he is SO satisfied, but when a Soviet relic is found, many throw it away. This part of history isn't well-known here as there were no Poles here in 1945 and before, the first transport with Polish people arrived here in June 1945. Nearly everything I know about 1945 history of my region is because of the Russian archives. During the fights up to 10 km from my house about 10000 Germans and 5000 Soviets died and there is not a simgle monument, not a single book or ANYTHING about it. Thank you Red Army for winning against Nazi Germany. Greetings from Prudnik/Neustadt/Нойштадт in southwestern Poland!
@@namdelovoi that's more than true. In central Poland it's like the Germans came, destroyed everything, then Russians came and destroyed everything again. Here, in post-german territories that are Polish 1945 (BECAUSE SOVIETS LIBERATED THEM) it's like the "bad" Soviets came to beat "poor" germans.Sadly, I don't know anyone here who cares about Russian perspective, that they got here after 4 years of such a destructive war, 30 million Soviets died in the war, with nearly half of them being civillians killed because of Nazi propaganda calling them "sub-human". The Red Army won the World War II, fighting alone (after 1943 with Polish corps) with all of Nazi Germany and pushed them back to where they came from. When the Allies landed in Normandy, the Red Army was already retaking Belarus. Here, where I live they ended it. Monument in Prudnik was removed in 1989. In Głogówek (обер-глогау) they are preparing for removing Red Army cemetery. Because of political problems between Poland and Russia. It's sad that we can't go past it and just remember the ones who deserve that, and that they have nothing to do with todays politics.

Thanks for all the great information, i live in America, my grandfather was in the Navy during WWll, he didnt fight in Germany, he was in the south pacific fighting the Japanese, But even he agreed with me that the Americans didnt beat the Germans, the Russians did, I remember getting into fights with my grandfathers friends just stating the facts , if it werent for the Russians the war would have been very different for America and England, i was called a communist lover and a trader. This was in the 1980s and the cold war was still in full swing.
My grandfather would never say in front of his war friends, that the Russians were the main driving force in defeating the Germans, in our schools they teach are children that we won the war, i had to educate my kids on the the true facts.

Interesting relic recovery. The comment by Mr. Birna is most interesting as it seems there is need for a monument or two for all the soldiers who died in this apparently forgotten region. Thanks for your comments Mr. Birna. History is very important.

Насчет мосинки и штыковой атаки. Их пристреливали с примкнутым штыком.Без штыка винтовка в цель не попадала.

я имел в виду,что пристреливали с примкнутым штыком. если штык ,после пристрелки снять, то получается,что стреляешь с непристрелянного оружия.

It is astonishing just how well preserved these relics are! The steel is barely rusted, the paint is still good after 70+ years, even wood stocks are usually in good shape. Its as if they were buried only yesterday. Have you ever tried using ELECTROLYSIS to remove old corrosion and dirt?

I've actually shot a ppsh. We called them pahpush. Nick name here in America. I used to work for a class 3 machine gun dealer. Mosin Nagants are great little rugged firearms too. Especially the sniper version.
It's sad that so many on all sides died in that horrible war.

about 15 identify, about 500 total
To give you an idea: we excavated near Rzev, around half way between Moscow and Saint Petersburg. Out of around 800 soldiers found 15 were identified.
Hrenotan Pipetkin That is incredible! Truly amazing work you guys do! How did you go about identifying them? Did you have someone look at dental records? Look at old soviet medical records? I have become addicted to watching your videos every night!
Dan Gannon I am not part of Gagarin’s team, however I went to fields with another guys. All is much simpler: soldiers (Soviet) had a capsules with paper tags inside. Name and other info was written there. Problem number one is that soldiers considered it a bad luck to fill this info in and many did not do it. Problem number two is destruction of these capsules, water damage to paper, etc. German metal tags were obviously more practical.

I have always been interested in WWII history, but recently have been interested in Soviet military history and reading about it. I did not know about the capsules so I learned something new! Is that the little papers that Gagarin has read in videos? Also, I was curious that hopefully you (or Gagarin may know if he sees this) do you know why it seems almost all the videos are in the swamp? Is that because weapons and bodies were thrown in the water? Or just because the constant shelling changed the landscape? Thank you for your replies!
