Walter is a living legend. Always surprises me when people characterise Porsche as a company lacking passion. You listen to people like Walter Rohl and Andreas Preuninger talk and they're just oozing with passion and love for cars that take high performance driving enjoyment to the limit.
Nobody does it like Walter! 😅👌 His style of driving has never been matched by anyone in my opinion. Even when turbocharger and all-wheel drive were introduced to the world rally cup, this guy still was faster than anyone else in his little RWD Lancia most of the time!
I used to live in OC and drove PCH many times for relaxation. I saw a Jag XJ220, a 959, every sort of Ferrari, Lamborghini, and Porsche, especially on Sunday morning. Wonderful. I miss that ability to be out in the fresh and salty air. On the coast, your lungs fill like in no other place.
So averse to leaping that he even dislikes jump cuts. Walter, Brian Redman and Jacky Ickx are truly unique and yet similarly graceful in extreme conditions. Thanks for this!
Walther is such a gentleman and a trove of insight of these cars. BUT I guess I wouldn’t be alone if I asked you to make an extra edit using the driving shots filmed in the cabin and without any background music?? The last 15s left us waiting more…
I bought a 964 cup car when they still were sort of affordable, cause Walter Röhrl recommended it (actually he recommended a 964 RS) when I met him during a drivers training (in 996 times) 😊 Walter drove so smooth and with wonderful relaxed ease and he also beat all the instructors in terms of laptime 😂😂 he is hands down the best driver I ever had the pleasure to drive with !!
@7:17 can someone please help me to understand how a man so essential to Porsche manages to pronounce the marque name with one syllable? What am I misunderstanding? Is there a casual use of the word that allows for getting it said iin 1 fewer syllable for efficiency's sake? Jason should be able to field this one...
The simple explanation is that Walter Röhrl is a legend and rules dont apply to him. The more complicated explanation is that while speaking English, Germans dont always pronounce German names the "correct" way (i.e the german way) so we will just find an english pronunciation that we are comfortable with For example, I personally dont pronounce Mercedes-Benz the German way because it just feels weird and out of place and most people wont know what I'm talking about (except when I'm speaking german of course). This probably what's happening here and for some reason Walter probably prefers "Porsh" over "Porsh-uh". That might be a personal preference or maybe "Porsh" was just common back in the day so he adopted it, but I'm just speculating here
I'm not sure I got the final closing point herr Röhrl makes. Is it that the 3.8 RS is easy to drive, just like a Cayman GT4, and that this is a good and fun thing? If so, that seems in contrast to the previous point that 'car driving starts when you start sliding - everyone can drive a car fast up until that point'
This is the type of content youtube was ment for. Being able to be in the room with a person of that character speaking like he is, just thank you. MORE AND MORE PLEASE.
But yes, audio is in need of much work. Maybe AI noise filtering for the voice, and no need to have music when someone is speaking, unless its really low level, think a 10th the db...
OK, if _Walter Rohrl_ can say, "Porsh", instead of 'Porsha', then nobody gets to bitch about that anymore. Think about it; do we pronounce every word we ever speak as done in the original language, accent and all? No, we don't. It's great to be enthusiastic about Porsches, but nobody has to be a Porsche Weenie about the name.
Hahaha, I had exactly that in my mind but could not work out what Walter's voice reminds me of. Thanks for putting me down the rabbit hole of those videos now!

Who said that? I need to know
People who own Italian cars and equate unreliability with character.....

Look how smooth and slow everything looks at his hands…such a legend
Smooth is fast.
Legend has become a much overused word these days but not in this case. Legend sums up the man perfectly.
Always nice to see Walter Röhrl!
1vs1 would be nice.
He is an amazing man indeed. A real car person through and through. 🌞💪
It’s the man himself!
Been a long time Porsche collector, i absolutely enjoyed this video. Thank you
I once saw a RS 3.8 driving on the freeway in Orange County, oh the sight of it, this car is spectacular.

Nice content. Just wish the audio was better
Yeah
agreed! Been a long time Porsche collector, i absolutely enjoyed this video. Thank you
Can you not hear him talk? Not everything needs lossless audio w full theater experience jfc
Great video! There is quite a story behind this particular RS. I have driven it a few years ago and it left a few very nice memories...

Walter. We thank you Sir. We appreciate you, your dedication and passion for motorsports.
This is great but the audio is a little horrible
We are very sorry for the audio quality, we had some technical issues with the microphones.
It sounds good to me btw.
@@ISSIMIOfficial Framerate seems low. It's choppy but it is what it is now
@@ISSIMIOfficial Oof still enjoyed the content tho
Well worth waking back up at 2am to watch
Great to hear it from Walter Röhrl. Could have used a bit more driving at the end though. 😂
A fantastic appraisal of a very special RS car - loving the Clubsport steering wheel also :-D
I would have preferred him speaking german and have subtitles, let the man really express himself in his own language. It adds to the charm
Thank you, another view on the history of Porsche. Great video.
It couldn't get any better.
Great video, amazing car!
respect you have an eye that make when i8t come to not just car, but their beautiful

been collecting them forever. worth it!

Sliding doesn't necessarily mean not easy to drive. There is no contradiction
No, he means the connection off the driver with the car is happening immediately. Because the car didn’t overwhelm you and communicating clearly!
That is high praise for the GT4!

8 minutes to hear 10 seconds of the actual car?! Common.

AN OLD FART instead of Jason Camisa? Are you f...ing kidding me? HORRIBLE
And that guy was jealous of michelle mouton
Eeehhhmm! If Jason Camisa would hear you naming this man an old fart, he would push you off the cliff!
