    That Barnack Leica is mint. So beautiful. Images look great.

      Thanks. It's a Leica IIf made in 1953. It's actually my first Leica ever ... so I took the opportunity of this new lens arriving to finally get myself a Leica! I'll of course also feature it in one of my next videos :)

    I bought a Zorki 4 + Jupiter 8 recently. This lens would be a nice addition to my small LTM lens collection.

    • @tomscameras
      @tomscameras  11 місяців тому +2

      Yes, exactly. It will work perfectly on a Zorki 4 I am sure ... and 28mm is a focal length where you won't find a lot of "affordable" alternatives with LTM mount!

      Had the same thought regarding my own Zorki and Fed.

    Ha! I just got the TT Artisan 100mm 2.8 bubble Bokeh lens with m42 Mount and I also have to send it back because of a Mount problem. The thread goes only a little more than 1
    Revolution and then Stopps with the index numbers at 9 o’clock position. 😢
    The Leica is really beautiful, but as I have read, a little complicated in using. Nevertheless it is still on my bucketlist 😅😂

    • @tomscameras
      @tomscameras  11 місяців тому

      Oh, that's bad to hear about the 100mm bubble lens ... cause I also definitely want to try that one out!
      In the case of the LTM 28, the threads itself are perfect, but there's a small recess for the rangefinder coupling in the mount and that is badly designed. It's no problem at all to implement a small design change to cure the problem. So I really, really hope that TT Artisan will do that and keep this lens in production ...!

    Might pick this up. I only got a 55mm jupiter lens so far for my Canon L3.

      I really hope the lens will be available again! There is now two very interesting new LTM lenses from Voigtländer as well (28/2.8 and 40/2.8) ... so the Voigtländer 28mm is much faster than the TT Artisan, but it is also more expensive ...!

    Great review, thanks! My iif is slightly older than yours and converted to a iiif w/self timer and heavily worn/brassed. This lens seems to be available currently on their website. My chore now is to figure out whether or not I want the black one. EDIT: I misspoke ... NOT available on their website ... just ebay, and just silver.

      Thanks for the feedback. Yes, unfortunately TT Artisan seems to back up from the LTM market already ... I hope they're going to come back.
      For what it's worth, Voigtländer actually now also launched two brand-new LTM lenses. 28/2.8 and 40/2.8 ... they're also great, but of course also more expensive than the TT Artisan!

    Time to review the Voigtländer 28mm f/2.8 Color Skopar aspherical L39

    • @tomscameras
      @tomscameras  24 дні тому

      You’re definitely right. I didn’t have the opportunity so far, sadly. Voigtländer also offers the 40/2.8 with LTM mount. However that’s maybe not the most perfect focal length for an LTM user as you‘ll need an external viewfinder for this lens for basically every LTM camera … that’s also true for the 28mm but then you rather accept that when using a wide-angle lens than when it’s more or less a standard lens … anyhow, these two Voigtländer lenses are fantastic offerings for LTM!

    You should check out new Brightin star 28 F 2.8 lens. It’s lens cap thin and costs 350€. I think it’s in M mount only though

    • @tomscameras
      @tomscameras  10 місяців тому

      The Brightin Star is a super tiny lens yes. I feel that it’s more practical though if you make the lens just a little bit bigger. (Nicer aperture ring etc.)
      But as you say, it’s a M mount only!

    hi, i cant find this lens..i looks like they might not bring it for the leica screw mount. looks nice though

    • @tomscameras

      It was for sale briefly. And in all honesty it was a sort of half-baked job. The original TT Artisan 28/5.6 is for Leica M mount and is very nice but the way how they converted it to the LTM mount was a bit flawed. And it seems that after selling just one batch of these LTM lenses, TT Artisan gave up on it. However there is a nice Voigtländer 28/2.8 for LTM. It’s more expensive though… but it is currently available and it is also f/2.8 instead of just f/5.6, of course.

    Curious as to why you said that this lens is not for digital cameras?

    • @tomscameras
      @tomscameras  3 місяці тому

      It will of course work on an adapter with a digital camera, but there are just better options. This lens is made for LTM (and for the Leica M system) and it only really makes sense on these cameras.
      For a digital camera, I'd always get another lens. On digital, no one wants a slow 28mm lens that has a close focus of only 1 full meter !! It's a historic characteristic of the whole LTM system. So if you are shooting LTM cameras, you accept the bad close focus, but there is no reason you need to do that when shooting any other camera system!
      (Sure, you could buy a special close-focusing LTM adapter for your digital camera. But again, why go to all these lengths if you could just get a more suitable dedicated lens for your digital camera instead.)

    €430 for this lens? It may be the price range for a Leica user, but not for Zorki and Fed users. When they go high, we go low 😂

    • @tomscameras
      @tomscameras  11 місяців тому +1

      Hehehe! But, honestly: Try to get the original Soviet era Orion-15 LTM lens (28mm f/6) today ... it is not really cheaper used than this brand new lens!
