An excellent and inspiring documentary on the celebrated Kente cloth of Ashanti Kingdom. A global cultural symbol of African identity. Thank you for educating us on this cultural heritage.
Money attracts blood, so true. This is quite impressive and knowledgeable. This is astounding talent. A great accomplishment to life. I have so much gratitude for you all and such magnificent handiwork. Much prosperity to the clans 😍♥️♥️♥️♥️
Are we, like, missing whole sections of him talking? There is a part where there is no subtitles and he literally says the english word 'Red'. There is just large streches of him speaking.........and there are just no subtitles at all.
This history is different from what I read. According to what I read, they learnt how to make kente from the Ewes... the ewes and gas brought kente to Ghana. Any way thanks for the enlightenment😊
Please share your sources so we can research and add to this. This story is verified by several sources. BTW, feel free to connect us to any Ewe Kente expert/historian so we can interview them.
Gas dont have any claim to kente weaving. The part of ewe land that weaves kente have ancestors from ashanti. We got the culture from ashantis. There is no ewe word for this cloth. We have to stop claiming others culture.
With all due respect are we not going to touch on the influence the Ewe culture and weavers had and still have? What is the saying again "Until the lions have their historians, tales of the hunt shall always glorify the hunter"
Yes, that story is in the works. I hear there is a debate on the origins of the name Kente and the cloth in general… btw, Ewe kente weaving is slowly becoming a thing of the past because of the current trend of supplying Kumasi with the Asante Kente.
Its was one Asante king who sent some number of kyekyen cloth makers to the ewe people in somewhere to learn how to weave the kente cloth. The kente cloth actually originate from the ewe people of togo
