tbf, 40% of the electorate voted for his party that he was the head of, but a fair chunk of them were voting 1) against corbyn or 2) for the Brexit they were promised for decades. and that forty something percent is lower because turn out wasn't 100%. when you strip turn out and confounders away, its probably a third of adults at the time. which is worrying, but a lot better than first thoughts. the issue, really, is the system we have - both media that pivots right on immigration and FPTP which rewards the minority, ensuring that about two thirds of voting age adults get someone they didn't vote for, basically in charge of the executive, legislative and because parliament is unchecked power, especially post Brexit, the judiciary as well. we need PR ASAP to stop a BJ from entering no 10.

The amazing thing about this nightmarish story is how Johnson could keep rising through the ranks despite all the "career-ending" episodes that occurred for us normal humans. I burnt myself out in 2017 with the pressure of trying to run a small biotech and often now worry about my future career and employability as I head to retirement. Yet if you're on the other side of the English class system it is like inhabiting a parallel universe where the gravity of consequence simply doesn't exist or even bizarrely is inverted.

    • @billyb6043
      @billyb6043 Рік тому

he's clearly a narcissistic sociopath. To be formerly diagnosed one needs to exhibit 5 or more of the following traits:
A grandiose sense of self-importance (i.e., exaggerates their achievements and abilities)
A preoccupation with the idea of gaining success, power, love, and physical attractiveness
A belief that they are special or high status and can only be understood by similar people or should only associate with those people (or institutions)
      A need for excessive admiration
A sense of entitlement and expectation that others will comply or give them favorable treatment
Exploits other people for personal gain
      Lacks empathy for others
Envies others or believes that other people envy them
      Arrogant behaviors and attitudes
Johnson is a deeply flawed character, presumably damaged by a difficult childhood. His 'affable rogue' persona conceals a serious personality disorder. Everything he touches turns to shit, yet some are still drawn to his particular brand of superficial charm. Carrie will no doubt divorce him in due course. I'm not a Labour person and after their piss poor performance the last time they were in power, which sent them into the wilderness until now, I never thought they'd have a ghost of a chance ever again.
But the sheer incompetence, gerrymandering and political maneuvering displayed by this government has totally eclipsed anything the last labour government
      got up to.
The latest 'wheeze' by the home secretary saying that they were going to deport 3000 immigrants
a month, is just another example of the 'say anything to appease the 'stupid' electorate' tactics employed by the Tories.

@@justsomegeezer69 Do you know the trick with the seemingly innocuous loan arrangement?
Now I can’t say that this is what happened with Johnson and Sharp, but they seem like the types…
Mr R, a rich sort, wants to donate a large sum of money to Mr B, a bone idle rich guy, for a bit of quid-pro-quo but Mr B doesn’t want to pay tax on the money (which as a donation he would have to). Mr R is ok with that because he would like some tax back himself.
So, Mr R arranges a loan, not for himself but for Mr B, and acts as guarantor in respect of the loan. Mr B receives the money but, because it is a loan and he hasn’t insured it, he pays no tax. Mr R then receives his quid pro quo. After the appropriate loan duration Mr B defaults on the loan, which becomes repayable by the guarantor, Mr R. Mr R pays the loan back but, because it is a loss he adds it to his annual tax returns to offset a portion of his taxes. Both are satisfied with their deal, and HMRC are stuffed by the real elites once more. Rich peoples finances are wonderful.
I may have simplified things a bit and any similarity to persons dead or alive are purely coincidental, but it does make one think. 🤔

Boris wasn't the man that broke Britain. That title must rest with Cameron. It was Cameron who let Boris back into government as an MP and it was Cameron who opened the gates of hell that was the Brexit referendum. In terms of damage, nothing comes close to a man who attempted to appease the right clique of his party and put his and the party's interests above that of his country. The referendum, regardless of its outcome, destroyed the concept of Britain's stable representative democracy. It will take decades to undo the damage.
Boris, Liz, Rishi + all the more minor forms of political chancers are symptoms of that damage. In a stable representative democracy these people would not have risen to prominence.

    Nice video 👍😃
I’ve asked people why they like Boris and got back
‘He doesn’t take things too seriously he has a sense of humour’
How that helps run the country I don’t know 😳
    Also
‘He tella it like it is’
Err no he just tells people what they want to hear. That problems are caused by ‘foreigners’ and the unions’
We’ve had over 10 years of the bloody tories and the country is poorer, apart from the rich and big companies like Amazon who don’t pay their fair share of tax. We are only now approaching the number of police officers we had before, NHS waiting lists are longer than ever and our armed forces are below the level needed to play a full role in NATO.
Quicker we are rid of the tories the better imo.

The most shocking thing about Boris Johnson, is that he actually managed to get married. . . that any woman would want him at all. The rest of it, is really not that surprising.

@@JohnHollyoak-vx6pn Money yes but also getting in to the right social circle and the knowledge that if the "relationship" goes tits up; which the are almost banking on, then they would be financially set for life.
