5 Overlooked Passages of the Bible (Concerning Apokatastasis)

Jesus speaks about the “renewal of all” in Matthew 19:28, Peter speaks of the “restoration of all” in Acts 3:21, and Paul writes about the “reconciliation of all” in Colossians 1:20…
However, these passages are barely known let alone taught about in the Western Church.
Why? Because perhaps they directly challenge the presuppositions and assumptions of what the Gospel is, and how many people’s understanding of the faith is focused on tribalism and destruction… which isn’t really Good News, anyways.
After feeling confined and not allowed to talk about these passages and ask questions about them, I decided to do my own self-study… and what I discovered was marvelous and beautiful.
So I made my discovery into a class. A number of the videos are already up for FREE as a taster, the rest just take the content deeper and further. I sincerely hope you are intrigued to get the rest and to find yourself liberated into a better understanding of the Good News.

It is so good to see a fellow Christian get who Yahweh is . I keep being told That it is heretical to think that Yahweh will restore all things. I feel the church of today has done the same thing the Jews did , they have created a system that must be followed and if Jesus showed up again they would try to crucify him again. I am so glad to see others who have found the narrow gate that understands all that Jesus is. He is the savior of the world not just a partial or potential savior.

There is a cutoff date for free forgivness. Prior to what is known as tribulation people can be justified freely by faith alone. Once the tribulation period starts people have sinned away grace and must be faithful unto death to be forgiven by rejecting the 666 or refusing to become a part of the global economic system that revelation13 says you won't be able to conduct commerce without this mark. It goes on to say if you recieve this mark you'll be eternally damned. Trust Jesus before the tribulation starts. Once for all sins at Calvary! He is the satisfaction for our sins! His payment! This is what happens when you take the scriptures seriously. Especially when you take the notion that Ephesians is often said to be a Circular Epistle or letter, meant to be presented to every ear. Eye and tongue and at 3:14 Paul appears to be praying tat we all would Drill down deep, and wide, and long and high, into God's LOVE in Christ. When we do this, over time we will see, revealed to us that wouldn't leave amy of his creation in outer darkness, forever! PTL.

Within a similar context, here is another example of how some translations render the Greek verb [exomologeo]:-
Romans 14:11:- For it is written: “As I live, says the Lord, to me every knee Will bow, and every tongue will give [praise/exomologeo] to God” [NASB]
    That was a refreshing presentation!

Thank you so much for your well articulated defense of universalism.
I always found the idea of hell too terrifying and dark to believe. The very idea turned me off from organizing religion and made me embrace Desist.
I couldn’t imagine or truly accept the view that billions of people would be endlessly tormented and tortured simply for not being Christian.
Hell filled me with dread and sadness, not just for myself but for all people I would never even meet.
But it makes perfect sense for a loving God to work out a restoration of all things.
    I hope this view grows.
    Thanks again for your video.

I came across this train of thought some time ago now. I'm no Grammarian or Greek scholar so I certainly don't profess to know it all, but I may be able to help further your understanding concerning the scope of Paul's words at Phillip 2:10-11. In Greek grammar there are certain “moods” [I.e.] the indicative, subjunctive, optative, and imperative. For instance, the indicative mood tells us that an event is “certain”, unlike the subjective mood that is telling us that an event is “uncertain”. In other words, the subjective mood is often used to express something that might or should happen [i.e.] a wish, hope, expectation etc….
Yet, it must be noted that there are many cases within the scriptures where the subjunctive mood is used in conjunction with something called a “purpose clause" which then makes it read more like something written in the indicative mood [i.e.] something that is “certain” to happen, simply because God purposes it. I can't fully explain it because I don't know the Greek language but I can show you some scriptural examples of what I mean:-
Ephesians 3:10:- >[so that]< the manifold wisdom of God >[might/should]< now be made known through the church to the rulers and the authorities in the heavenly places.
In the above scripture the highlighted words >[so that]< make the clause purposeful and the word >[might/should]< is being used in the context of something that has happened and was always going to happen.
John 3:16:- For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, >[so that]< everyone who believes in him might not perish but >[might/should ]< have eternal life.
Again, in the above scripture the words >[so that]< make the clause purposeful and the word >[might/should ]< is used in the context of something that will happen. Therefore, as follows, this same reasoning can be applied to Philip 2:10-11:-
      >[so that]< at the name of Jesus every knee >[should/might]< bow and every tongue etc…
With the above reasoning in mind, I would say that Paul elaborates on the words of of Isaiah even further. Paul included those in heaven and under the earth. Hope this helps :)
      Peace

Matthew 25:46 And these shall go away into everlasting punishment.
καὶ ἀπελεύσονται οὗτοι εἰς *κόλασιν αἰώνιον* .
the Liddell, Scott, Jones Ancient Greek Lexicon (LJS) FOR THE 2 BOLDED WORDS says alot:
κόλᾰσῐς (kólasis) 1. A checking the growth of trees, esp. almond-trees. 2. chastisement, correction; of divine retribution.
αἰώνιος (aionious) lasting for an age (αἰών II), perpetual, eternal.
The cited verses of the Scriptures shown for LSJ definition of αἰώνιος demonstrate the dual nature of the word:
    Romans 16:26 the eternal God ; Genesis 9:16 the rainbow as a reminder of the everlasting covenant ;
Exodus 27:21 tending the lamps outside the veil in the Temple is a permanent statute for the Israelites for the generations to come.

This is not a method of exegesis found anywhere in the Christian world. Universalism has also been rejected by the Christian Orthodoxy for 2,000 years. Where do you get that _all things_ means _all people?_ Finally, Jesus clearly taught that few will be saved.

This is inaccurate. Check out the Cappadocians, the early Church Fathers, the Desert Monastics, etc. Specifically check out Gregory of Nyssa, Isaac of Nineveh, Maximus the Confessor, Macrina the Younger, Julian of Norwich, Teresa of Avila. The Western Church has largely followed in the footsteps of Augustine, who did not work from the original Greek language of the NT, and that set up the West to follow a train of thought it was never intended to have. As I understand Maximus, his understanding of the Christ as the Logos is the most sophisticated of all, and for him the Logos is deeply present in everything and therefore nothing is beyond the scope of God's reconciliation.

FYΙ, that etymological breakdown of ἀποκατάστασις wasn't correct. The relevant sense of ἀπό in this compound isn't "away, separate from"; nor is the sense of κατά "against" here.
ἀποκατάστασις derives of course from verbal ἀπό + καθίστημι, where the latter denotes setting down or establishing something. The relevant sense of the prefix ἀπό in ἀποκαθίστημι has to do with a return or repetition; and together the compound is similar to ἀποδίδωμι, meaning to give back or repay. ἀποκαθίστημι, therefore, simply means to "re-establish" or "restore," and ἀποκατάστασις is the nominal form of such a restoration. Nothing to do with "away from" or "against" anything.

    • @neuroendocrinologist
      @neuroendocrinologist Рік тому

@@JohnChaffeeTalks The thing is that looking at ἀπό in and of itself doesn't help us much. The notion of return is rather semantically complex, and we don't see ἀπό on its own functioning to denote this. This is a pretty well-known aspect of Greek morphology where we see a particular nuance of a preposition mainly or even exclusively in how it's used as a prefix in a compound.
Other prepositions are similar, too. For example, we might think of ἀνά as "up" (cf. ἄνω) or "among/between." But - similar to ἀπό in ἀποκαθίστημι - in something like ἀναγεννάω (cf. 1 Peter 1), it means "again": to be born again.

I think once you get to Romans 11:32 you can help but translate “all” as anything other than “all Jews and Gentiles.” Most English translations downplay the universality of the Gospel, but the Greek actually tilts more in favor of “all” being ALL.
