You should put a hole through the bottom of the barrel and build a small crank in underneath so you can retract the grappling hook by winding it up. You'll probably have to add a chamfer around the top of the hole so the string doesn't cause too much drag on the grappling hook.
something that makes it nicer to grip for pulling back the springs an improvement for resetting the trigger (i have to manually hold the trigger up a tiny bit for it to lock the "bolt") i think a bit more spiel for the spring on the front could help it transfer a bit more power to the projectile, right now the spring is slamming in the front wall with plenty of energy going into the frame
@@JezzyCrazyTVI've already tried it, the nail fits pretty loosely and is prone to falling out, as well as the base catching on the breech and taking energy away as it's getting launched. Makes a nice ping sound though
If you can print a shaft inside the hollow of the barrel so that your projectile is in constant contact with the plunger, you'll achieve a higher impulse for the thrust. That or use a longer projectile to reach the plunger.
He was very focused on a single goal, and in doing so, making the design thicker wasn’t on his mind. He did, after all, fold one out of DNA, which couldn’t be thicker if he was going for “the worlds smallest nerf blaster”
You should put an asterix next to Marks symbol to show that it's modified. Maybe even add your own as an addendum. 3D printing has a lot of iteration and I think it's good to show that and give yourself credit too. Even if it's just a mark saying that it was changed. I think it would be a healthy habit in the community.
Hear me out, what if instead of plastic you used some metal, and instead of a compliant system you used some chemical ignition to fire metal projectiles? I think this could be a game changer.
Hey, Just wondering, do you think you can mod an area on the blaster to hold the extra cable? Love the work! I'll try to put some side mount for the cable, as I'm using along cable. Let me know if it's possible! Have a great day!
I love the grappling hook targets. For me that's the best part of this whole video. The idea of a grappling hook is super enthralling when you're a kid but when you grow up it just doesn't seem practical. LOL when would I actually use one? But magnetic grappling hook targets is a fantastic idea! Heck, if I had kids I would be tempted to put a metal plate on the ceiling for the ultimate grappleing game. Or a long strip of sheet metal up a tall wall. With some framing to cover up the edges, but you can build it for 20 or 30 bucks. You would also need real Nerf darts or some other toy. Tho it would be worth it. It would feel like having a full shooting range that takes up zero space. Regular darts would work on it too. And Mom can even hang up kitchy refrigerator stuff.
What about using steel springs? I know the idea is that's supposed to be a single piece, but it wouldn't be too hard to glue in some spring steel sheets.
maybe instead of doubling the thickness of the gun each time, try doubling the springs! it will have double the firepower, a cooler looking blaster/shape, and it wont waste as much material!
didnt work the cocking mechanism doesnt go far enough for the hook to grab onto the trigger, I followed every instruction correctly so idk if its how i made it or just the model in general but it wasnt able to cock so yeah
@@Patrick_Gibney tried printing it with regular creality PLA and it didn't work since the cocking mechanism didn't go far enough back for it to hook on.
Im not much of a 3D modeller and im glad others in the community are expending on this gun model. I hope others make bigger and better guns with this concept it will be amazing lol like a long version of this gun thats a sniper rifle
So wouldn't making it even thicker be better? Why not a little taller too? Then put a magnet on it instead of a hook and you have a magnet fishing gun. Maybe make a spot for multiple attachments. Magnet, grappling hook, fishing hook, etc. Multi gun. A small reel might be nice too. It could actually be a very useful tool.
I saw that video too and wondered if making it thicker would make it more powerful.. surprised it works! I want to make a cylindrical shooting device, basically a giant robot toy that can shoot its fists a la Mazinger Z. I’d like to be able to print it directly in the arm, spring and all. Would scaling this to a cylindrical shape work?
What mods do you think could make this blaster even cooler? Lemme know and I'll try to make 'em happen!
a keychain conversion!

Can you make this so it shoots 6mm airsoft bullets? Would be sweeet

I know how this ends. The 12th remix of this toy imparts 750 foot pounds of energy and it's lethal.
No spoilers please
@@Patrick_Gibneyif you put a nail into a toy gun everything can become dangerous
What about a 9mm round

Don't let Hasbro see this, i don't want them to know How to cheap even further
would making the barrel longer do anything in this design?
Very nice ideas, I'm surprised Mark didn't release a thicker version himself! It's a real toy now :)
My guess is they probably expect a lot of kids to use it and wanted to err on the side of caution. Easy enough fix, though!

When I printed it the barrel of mine was filled in and I can’t get it out any know how I could
What would the size be for a normal bullet? Full scale, Half scale, Quarter scale?
This one uses the half scale dart

Good point! I left it so it would be clear that it wasn't my design originally

🤯
I've tried to print this in resin and the thing that irritates me like no other is the stupid burn in layer! Making the entire thing unusable
Man I love what you did here!! I would love to be able to buy your modded version with those awesome 3 targets👍🏻👍🏻

US military: Write that down! WRITE THAT DOWN!

Would love to see something like this eventually able to fire full sized (or half length) nerf darts
Can someone modify this so it fits BBs? Airsodt 6mm round bullets. Please and thank youuuuu

Yes officer, I am technically armed with a 3d printed gun, but it only shoots nerf.
What filament did you use
Hatchbox PLA, nothing fancy.

Another neat mod would be a normal bullet bit with those same holes
Also, sorry to bother but how did you get the model ino tinkercad, I don't know how to!
No worries! Start a new project > import > select the STL file > keep units in metric > wait a minute for tinkercad to load it up

want to see it@@Patrick_Gibney
upgrade the shooting force , add a reset , MAKE IT STONGER!
This deserves more views! Keep up the good work❤
Hi! what size nozzle did you use?
0.4
intresting we could even use metal springs like that and make a wepon of that, but nah probably illegal ;)
Nice mods. The grappling hook is a nifty innovation that makes play more fun.
I never 3d printed befor but I need this, can I just use a normal 3d printer or do I have to use a resin one?
Normal printing works just fine
@@Patrick_Gibney k thanks, imma try with my library's printer later 👍

Make it shoot dog treats.

@@Patrick_Gibney Only one way to find out. :)
Voiceover sounds really weird, AI "enhanced"?
Guess I'm not as slick as I thought! I forgot to plug my mic in for half the video and I used AI to salvage the camera audio
make a shotgun version
Now make it semi auto
YYEESS!!!!
Why is my head so long???
why do you sound AI generated
I did an AI audio cleanup pass, clearly overdid it. Thanks for pointing it out!

Ok now i need to see an absolutely thiccc gun that's wider than the length of the gun
saving that one for the OF
Too weak, not interested. Needs to be 250x stronger than this.
