    What her son did with his friends was unhinged behavior. Imagine if he wasn’t held accountable and he did this as an adult. Somebody dating your ex shouldn’t have escalated to this point. Mother needs to hold him accountable.

      Let's be honest, 2nd ex is the leader of their group and 1st ex is kind of passive. So he had no problem with 2nd ex dating Natalie, but 2nd ex couldn't handle her dating Max, the defendant.
      Its not unhinged, its ridiculous and immature behaviour but its not uncommon in teenagers to behave like this.
      Its a toss up in who's worse, 1st ex who seems otherwise responsible and as if he wouldn't normally be involved in things like this. Or 2nd ex who comes off as being more of a problem child, and clearly was pushing for the incident that happened.

    I know I sound like a broken record talking about the defendant being silent, but it’s part of the reason he won in my opinion. He doesn’t come across as a hothead, and proved a point without anyone getting hurt despite a group rolling up to his address. Been watching JJ for 20 years and don’t remember any litigant speaking less.

    This made me smile. One of the best cases I’ve seen. I don’t always agree with JJ but here the law is clear. Named ‘criminal enterprise’ if a gang goes to cause trouble and inadvertently one of them gets hurt or their property is damaged, they are liable!

    This was the best JJ EVER! She called "Mr. Smarty Pants" out and his little follower got held accountable. Ms./Dr., needed a lesson in parenting and got it front and center. I just hope she heeds it.

    Unbelievable. The mother agrees that her son should not have gone to that house, but still wants the defendant to pay for the damages. And the defendant agreed that he should pay for the damages, so why are they suing him in court ? Their stupidity really worked against them.

      If I was 16 years old and a woman identifying herself as a Doctor (who would also eventually sue me) was coming at me about damage to her car after her kid rolled up on my spot looking for payback, yeah I'd be scared enough to cave to her unreasonable demands via text. I also would hope a judge like JJ would later see through that.

      @@queenbee3647 There's a difference between getting into an altercation at a store, and someone rolling up to your own house unexpectedly. In this case, it doesn't matter if the defendant called the police or not. The boys came to him with the explicit intent to beat him up, 3 to 1. At that point it was self defense. The kid had every right to defend his home and body. If he had caused bodily injury, that would be a different story. But in this case, the car was damaged because the three boys precipitated the altercation believing they could wallop on one guy for no reason. For that, Judy wasn't going to award one cent to the plaintiffs. They shouldn't have gone looking for trouble.

      ​@@queenbee3647 JJ was probably happy the third one occurred to be braver, more intelligent and efficient than the coward second one. (He was attacked, he showed his justified aggression, lightly damaged the car and not injured a person).
      They played a stupid game and won a stupid prize.
      The second one is toxic. The first one needed a wake-up call. I guess that is why JJ wanted him to pay. Having a friend who probably "stole" your date and later being easily involved in the criminal act shows how weak and stupid he is.
      The mother is also not the sharpest knife in the drawer.
