  • The NSF-supported Green Bank Telescope is the largest fully steerable telescope in the world. Located in West Virginia and within the National Radio Quiet Zone, the telescope is used by scientists and researchers around the world to view the cosmos with unprecedented sensitivity. It is apart of the Green Bank Observatory, continuing to make discoveries and train the next generation of scientists, engineers, and technicians through award-winning education programs. Dr. Harshal Gupta is the NSF Program Director for the Green Bank Observatory.

    I've been up many times and it's always awe inspiring. To drive out late at night and just look at it juxtaposed by farms that have been there for 200 years is profound.
