  • A nostalgic trip down memory lane to when Manchester got its first independent radio station.
Launching in April 1974, Piccadilly 261 was one of the most exciting local radio stations in the UK, and remained so through the 80's and 90s before the radio market was saturated with local radio.
Enjoy this nostalgic journey back to the 1970s and a time when local radio DJ's were household names in every home in Manchester.

Great days Susie Mathis and Dave Ward.. Mike Sweeney was a pub singer singer then with his band the Salford Jets. He started in 19880 at 33 years old. How time flies. He is on GMR now at 76 years old!!.Music for grandads.

I'm pretty certain that's Steve Merike at 1:20 not Steve England.

Blimey! Seems like an eternity ago. 50 years ago in 1974 it all began.
