Five tractors, implements, seven lawn mowers, six pickups, six trailers- I know what you mean seems all I do is order and change tires, and they're more expensive each time!! Great vids, keep em coming.
shoot here in texas we don't worry about cracks we run them until the blow then we replace 2 tires I noticed cracks in my back in the late 90's and ran them until the got slick. they never did blow out. in 2012
Need to try some Firestone Champion Spade Grips if you want some serious traction. I change tractor tires and sold several sets to farmers around here and they love em!
They still date stamp the same way on automotive tires. I saw that those deep tread 23's were labeled as 18.4 42 so I think they still do english but some of our firestones are metric. Too confusing sometimes.
Shirts and gear for sure Wes maybe you should start selling tires on there to if that is what the big news is. I have michelins on my truck great tires indeed they are almost sticky I never have been stuck plowing snow with those tires pricey yes but worth every penny in my book
Yep,get the check book out again. As a farmer you get two cents ahead and bang more bills to pay.One thing though, you do use your tractors hard. You run a lot of ground and that means lots of hours doing the work.Hope these tires hold up for you.Waiting to hear more on the event?Be safe out there.
At 1:19ish tire date 4/78 and tractor 7810 it’s making ¢ents now it must be a bitch finding tires for the 40 series tractors fortunately 2040 is right around the corner and you’ll have new ones to choose from I bought 4 brandy new matching tires for my Thatsoon 240Z one was wearing out quickly and learned about tire dates 3 tires matched one was 5 years older and was grippyer from soft compound good customer service and 4 new tires installed Is there anything thing tires can be treated with to offset weather/sun exposure and time?
Wes, i have a question about tyres and wheels. Have you ran on solid steel wheels yet? I saw those on fields in Holland (EU) and in England where i live now they use the Cutbertson conversion to have rubber tracks on all four corners or use a fully tracked tractor. I plan to weld up some rims i have to get 7.50 x 16 solid steels to use during off roading, do you have experience with them? Do keep up with your video's as i do like them, as long you don't mind me asking stuff :)
Hi, How to stop tyres Cracking, Rubber gets depleted of its lastisity over time, the moor you use them the quicker this will happen, so, to slow this down or even stop this happening just do the following when you fit a new rear tractor tyre, put 1.5Lbs of soft soap ,which is like a jelly type soap into the tyre before fitting, this works its way into the rubber and keeps it more flexable try this on an elastic band, work it in and it will stretch 2x more.good for model aircraft rubbers. i once saw a Dunlop 27x1.38 cycle innertube, rubbed with soft soap, and blown up and you could walk through the center. give it a go , but dont get rid of all the cracks as Tim will have nothing to play with, Ha Ha.
It's the same with car tires produced after the year 2000. Anything before 2000 won't have the date stamp, although it will have something that looks similar.
I am excited, positively bouncing up and down with excitement, But i'd be even more excited if i knew what i was getting excited for. LOL Just being nosey, but whats the big stainless steel box outside your new shed near the end of the vid . Your tyre guy must love seeing you pull into his driveway. hes probably planning his next vacation on sale to Pandy farms.
Wes you should see if the tyre manufacturer would like you MENTION their tyres with some possible $ headed in your direction & I noticed you have a flag flying above one of your buildings. Have you considered flying it upside down to signal distress? as the good ole USofA "inho" ain't doing as well as she should be
Be glad you don't own a Kubota. If ruin a tire you have 2 options on 4wd models. Either search the world for a replacement that has the same amount of ware. Or Replace all 4. Any damage to the drive train from mismatched tires will not be covered by warranty if it was within the time/hours.
coleprodurus to narrow. Doesn’t need them. Just because someone runs thousands of acres doesn’t mean he needs duals. There’s no row crops, so he doesn’t need them.
matt heidenreich That makes no sense at all. There was 3 numbers total. 478. 4th week of 1978 makes sense. Based on your logic. it could have been the 47th week of 98 or 88 or 78 or 68 etc. etc.
Another Titan tire? And more expensive at that? I would have given up on them. Buy a pair of Firestones, pull the last "good" Titan off the 4960, and sell it as a used tire to some poor schmuck who has one of his splitting out on him and only wants one to match. No way I'd keep paying MORE for those thing and have them busting apart on me, first one then the other... it's ridiculous. Later! OL J R :)
Five tractors, implements, seven lawn mowers, six pickups, six trailers- I know what you mean seems all I do is order and change tires, and they're more expensive each time!! Great vids, keep em coming.
agreed always buy in pairs its just that tires that size are so expensive
shoot here in texas we don't worry about cracks we run them until the blow then we replace 2 tires I noticed cracks in my back in the late 90's and ran them until the got slick. they never did blow out. in 2012
but mine never hits the road unless i'm loading it on the trailer.

I spy a milk tank, is someone going back into producing milk ??
They still date stamp the same way on automotive tires. I saw that those deep tread 23's were labeled as 18.4 42 so I think they still do english but some of our firestones are metric. Too confusing sometimes.
I have a old set of Firestone deep tread tires on my 2130 probably has 12000 hours on them they are a great tire!
Shirts and gear for sure Wes maybe you should start selling tires on there to if that is what the big news is. I have michelins on my truck great tires indeed they are almost sticky I never have been stuck plowing snow with those tires pricey yes but worth every penny in my book
All that roadwork certainly takes its toll on tractor tyres but radials are much better for this purpose.
Trelleborg used to make the best all around rear dirt bike tire going... but we don't seem to be able to get them anymore.
You said in the video don't buy Titan tires and I see you bought a new titan tire for the 4960 lol
By far the best tractor tire we have ever ran is a BFG power radial, that's the only thing we will buy anymore. But damn they are expensive.
What do you use the bulk milk tank for now? Seen it behind you at the end of the video by that blue building.
At 1:19ish tire date 4/78 and tractor 7810 it’s making ¢ents now it must be a bitch finding tires for the 40 series tractors fortunately 2040 is right around the corner and you’ll have new ones to choose from

Tamaqua is up my neck of the woods. Is it near that kubota dealer on 309?
How old of a unused tire can you put on a tractor? Are they like car tires that after so long of just sitting unused they go bad?
Wes, i have a question about tyres and wheels.

I see that milk tank in the back ground. Must be gonna start milking again :D
love the deep thead big differance
you ought to be able to pull tree stumps with those tires now.
What is the stainless tank by the garage?
The big news is the Gerbil eggs have hatched..Or Tim has run off and joined the circus....One or the other

I have a case 2290 agri king tractor and was plowing , went to turn around at the end of my pass and one of the tires collapsed
It's the same with car tires produced after the year 2000. Anything before 2000 won't have the date stamp, although it will have something that looks similar.
Car tires have had date stamps forever i just pulled a few tires that were from 1952

Great video . I love farming.
that tire is from the 42 week of 1998.
I love this guy
you know what wes need is a nice minniapolis moline to add some colour to all the green he's got!
Despite metric, wheel size is imperial, pretty much worldwide.
I am excited, positively bouncing up and down with excitement, But i'd be even more excited if i knew what i was getting excited for. LOL Just being nosey, but whats the big stainless steel box outside your new shed near the end of the vid . That big SS box was a bulk tank for milk.
Thanks.
Our titan tires have the same thing going on. They are just splitting apart
What is that milk tank for outside
What about Armstrong tires?
Di not Firestone get a bad wrap when an SUV had a bad wreck and they were blamed?
About that same time metric and dates were somewhat standardized?

You don't like buying one tire, then buy them in pairs.

coleprodurus to narrow. Doesn’t need them. Just because someone runs thousands of acres doesn’t mean he needs duals. There’s no row crops, so he doesn’t need them.

matt heidenreich That makes no sense at all. There was 3 numbers total. 478. 4th week of 1978 makes sense. Based on your logic. it could have been the 47th week of 98 or 88 or 78 or 68 etc. etc.
