- Marcus & Karen Hilton Waltz Showdance WSS
If you're not sure who they are, Marcus & Karen are the 9 time professional international standard world champions and were also once 10-dance world champions (pretty insane)
Their dancing is usually described as "simply the best"
Towards the end (at 3:03) they use a sequence of basic figures . This is clearly intentional, to demonstrate these 'basic figures' as something elevated to a higher form. If anyone is interested, the names of the figures from 3:03 are : natural spin turn, steps 4-5-6 of reverse turn, steps 1-2-3 of reverse turn, hover corte, outside spin (with modified timing), back whisk, chasse from promenade position, steps 1-2-3 of natural turn, back whisk, wing, open telemark, chasse from promenade position, natural spin turn, turning lock to right.
Sublime. My wife Lorraine and I had the great privilege of seeing Marcus and Karen in all the major championships from1983 to 1998. We saw them lecture nd demonstrate on many occasions and as they lived in the same part of the world at practice. Unforgettable memories.
A performance that is simply too beautiful for words.
best dancers.. each time i watch them waltz my heart aches...
A deeply moving dance.
A great musical performance by Marcus and Karen.
A masterpiece for all ages and centuries to come.
And the music is eternal.
Excellent & Exquisite ❤❤❤
It is a performance I watched the most, watching it is a part of my life.
a beautiful dance to a beautiful song
Noone will come close. The best ever.
words just cant describe how good they are..unreal!!
look at how deep they bowed at the end. they are deeply appreciative of the audience. also, the Japanese audience never stopped clapping throughout the dance;I am sure they enjoyed the show too.
The white shoes highlight her great footwork. I saw them dance in the early 1990’s.
simply perfect.
Heavenly.... truly amazing....
it´s so beautiful and so amazing
they look like from the fairy tale...
I think the Hiltons have something that the current generation of dancers don't have. EMOTION. Look at Marcus' smile during the demo. He is always smiling plus it shows he is LOVING it. Nowadays, winning is more important than anything else. imo, something is really missing here.
the song is called - 'The Morning Song' but im not sure what version
PURE CLASS!!!!
An absolute pleasure! Even after years. The modern interpretation of ballroom dancing nowadays doesnt touch mit heart.
No - nowadays the emphasis is on strength and masculinity, thanks to the Russians and East Europeans.
They were the best ever and will never be equalled. Their musicality makes other dancers, even world champions, look like robots. This performance was probably not rehearsed but improvised on the spot, as you have to do in competitions.
wow it's sooo beautiful..
it made me feel so calm :)
This performance is simply timeless, so unreal. (... I'm speechless) ... Their era is the peak of Ballroom dancing itself.
(For me personally, the only other couple to be as masterful as them is Augusto Schiavo and Caterina Arzenton.)
Sublime dancing - thank you so much for posting
The group from around 1:50 is just magic!
Like Mohammed Ali in boxing, like John Curry in ice skating, the Hiltons were the best ever and will never be equalled.
I wish I could dance like that with someone I love! *sigh*
No music???
как красиво, не волтно прослезилась :'(
What happened to the sound?
Which year was this from? I'd like to get the original.
They were the nearest that ballroom ever got to ballet.
❤️
Read the comments. And they are right, Pastorale by Secret Gatden
Pastorale by Secret Garden
guys did you know i go to the same school as there son Henry hilton and ive met them both and been to there house
Annnnnnd… what have you done?....
They make Astaire and Rogers look like robots dancing along tramlines
I think 3 Blackpool champions in standard, the Hiltons, Hawkins & Newberry and the Barrichi's. The common thing between of them, dance with their heart as well as technically superb. I'm not so sure about the champions now. Something we are sorely missing in this day and age.
Nowadays the East Europeans are dominant. It's all strength and athletics but the musicality and expression are gone.
sequence dancing
sorry my mistake the song is called 'pastorle'
