You must measure the height of the rail from the *nosing line.* You "guessed" by putting your tape somewhere close to the middle of the tread (2:23) and the tape isn't even level. You're good at selling a stud finder but terrible at installing a rail 👎. Sorry!
@@ReluctantDIYers Thanks. Didn't mean to offend. I use the nosing for the reference height at the top and bottom treads. Long ago, I made the same error. I measured up from the middle of the lowest tread and the nose of the top tread - thinking it wouldn't matter. The railing wasn't parallel to the stairs 🤣. I believe codes require a finished railing eight between 35-38 inches. Thanks again for the video. Stay well my friend....
@ Hey man, no offense taken at all. I’m thankful you took the time to share your thoughts. It’s very meaningful to me and will ultimately help others in the long run, which is my number 1 goal. Have a great New Year!
Wish I'd seen this sooner. I attached the mounts first as it's a LOT easier to drill/screw that way. But then I had to take 'em off. Sigh.
I totally get it… The first time I installed one of these I did the exact same thing. It’s all good! Thanks for watching!
Good job
Thanks!
I don’t know Rick… are you screwing the 4 screws on each mount? 🤔
🤔
this is just one big commercial
@@wheres_bears1378 LOL! Well, I did say it was sponsored, but I did actually install the hand rail. Does that count? 🤣
@@ReluctantDIYers not when it takes you more than half the “tutorial” video 😂
@@wheres_bears1378 Touché 🤣🤣

@@acreguy3156 HA!! Thanks for your honesty. So did you buy the stud finder? 🤣🤣
@@ReluctantDIYers Actually, I think I might 👍. Thanks...
@@acreguy3156 Awesome! I’ll work on my railing install skills. 👍🏼

Knocking is easier. Make another video
Ha! Thanks Brandon.
Knocking is stupid and inacurate as hell
Not passing code
It passed. 😉
@@ReluctantDIYers hand has to stay on rail Continuously, inspector didn't care or look
@@brianstich333 Here they just measure the distance from the stairs at the top and bottom of the railing. 👍🏼
No where detailed enough
