    FYI DOM tube starts as ordinary welded seam tube it is then drawn over a mandrel and pulled through a die This does several things that make it stronger than welded seam tube The more uniform in OD ID and wall thickness make it more structurally sound but pulling it over the mandrel and through the die work hardens the metal changing the grain structure makes it stronger

    Kool vid bro helped me understand a little better how the setup works
    I was wondering on the storage tanks, can u have more than 1?

    Also do u require to have a gauge to monitor the pressure on the tank?
    Thanks

    • @scrapingpavement
      @scrapingpavement 6 років тому

      Thanks, i would recommend at least a 5 gallon air tank. But ya you can run multiple tanks or one large but the more air you can hold the more compressors you'll need. I would recommend an air gauge, or if you do a setup like mine with no gauges i run a pressure blow off valve so if the pressure switch doesn't tell the compressor to turn off the valve will release so the tank and or compressor doesn't blow up.

    Great and helpful Video.... How much would you estimate a shop would charge for the job you've done????

    • @scrapingpavement
      @scrapingpavement 5 років тому

      Just the rear 2k-3k. The whole truck 4k-8k. Honestly depends on the shop and the details. Some shops charge $70+ an hour just for fabrication... but imo you get what you pay for. If you go to a shop and they say they can bag your whole truck for 2k let me tell you it will be a very unsafe and improper job.

    Is it a problem when the bag is at full squish and the convolutions rolls over and touches the bag mounts? I'm running dominator 2500 and my mounts are typical bag on axle brackets. The dominator rubber rolls over quite a bit fully compressed and touches the brackets

    • @scrapingpavement
      @scrapingpavement 2 роки тому +1

      That's pretty common, ideally you don't want the bag to touch metal. But fully compressed is common in alot of cases. You'll want to check for sharp edges on the brackets them selfs, round over any 90 degree edges or harsh areas with a flap disc and then sand paper to give the most life to the airbag. If its touching smooth metal the bag should last a long time to the point where the bag itself shows wear, like drying out.

      Truck is still going strong as a daily driver. The roll center being offset leans a little more turning one way than the other ( not noticeable unless paying attention to it ) if you were to locate the single point on the wishbone would solve the slight lean in a corner. Other than that no complaints

    • @scrapingpavement
      @scrapingpavement 4 роки тому

      4 things you can do.
      1- if you have an h190 axle you can put a datsun 720 axle in which is 1.5" narrower on each side or 620 axle which is 3" narrower on each side and swap third members.
      2- pull the shit out of the bed fender ( ugly )
      3- graft 87-89 rear pathfinder quarters to the bed they have a big buldge like front fenders, or some will even graft 4wd front fenders to the bed ( pathfinder quarters look better imo )
      4- lastly you can sell the wheels and get ones that tuck.

      The ruber bushings allow a bit of side to side movement for average driving. If you wish to go side to side and lean the truck over alot I would recommend heim joints

    Did the wishbone suspension have good articulation movement

    • @scrapingpavement
      @scrapingpavement 6 років тому

      This setup has been handling great, it's more setup to keep the truck flat around the corners but if you wanted side to side articulation you could simply add heim joints.

    Can I bag my truck without a 3 link or four link? Can I just keep the leaf springs on? Scrappingpavement

      For helper bags you can run leafs, but I don't recommend using bags on a mono leaf setup very dangerous.

    Im having a hard time. Bagging my first truck i cant figure out how to measure for my bag mounts. My bag with air is 8 inches. Without its 3 inches which only gives me 5 inches of travel however to lay frame from where i want ride height my frame is 9 inches off the ground its irritating to say the least. Any help is appreciated

    • @scrapingpavement
      @scrapingpavement 6 років тому

      What kind of bag do you Have? That is probably just the relaxed height at 8" most bags go from 2.75"- (10.5-12.5") even on a small bag there should be a good 7.5" of stroke. When the airbag is on your control arm you will actually get more lift then that because of the pivot point because of the ratio the bag sits on the arm. That's why some people like to mount there bag on there link bar you can get a 1:2 ratio of lift from the bag so if a bag gets 8" of stroke by having a 1:2 ratio you could get your truck to lift 16" off of the ground.

      scrappingpavement i bought them from bagit or chasistech. They are 2500# bags and they are going on a mazda b2200. I pumped 40psi in to the bag and it measured 8 inches and i collapsed it and measured 3 inches. I appreciate your reply

    • @scrapingpavement
      @scrapingpavement 6 років тому

      Try preseurizing it to 90psi and see what it reads. Don't worry about blowing it up as to most bags can inflate to 600psi

      I just looked up your bag and sure enough it's specs are 2.8-8.5 which is a small amount of stroke. I would recommend getting dominator 2500 for the front which are 2.8-10.5 and dominator 2600 for the rear which are 2.8-12.5.

    Would this be the same or at least similar for a 93 Toyota pickup?

    • @evanthag105
      @evanthag105 6 років тому +3

      yea, i have a very similar setup on my 86, which is almost the exact same as yours. I didnt raise my gas tank and i wish i did, it barely hangs lower so when im rolling low it will hit sometimes. Make sure you make your wishbone as wide as you can like he did, mine is like 4.5" apart and the axle had a bit of sway but when i mounted the shocks they helped locate the axle.
