Their journey is almost similar with the first generation of AKB48, and it took a few years before they got their big break. Sayang at wala na yung mga documentaries nila, pero alam nyo ba na there were only 7 people who went to see AKB48 on their debut? hindi din sila dumaan sa process of audition tulad ng MNL48 naviewers ang nagvote sa kanila, but it was only a team who wanted to have a group perform in a theater, and this was way back 2005. Marami sa kanila na walang talent nung nagsimula, just like Maeda Atsuko, the 1st gen ace.
The first generation took every criticism against the group, every bash from the audience. But after shedding tears before each performance, they still smile in front of the disbelievers, and to the fans who love them.
After all that chaos, they would then cry in front of their audience as a sign of deep appreciation that they were acknowledged for their hardwork and efforts to keep the group alive. Until now, even if most of the 1st gen graduated, AKB48 is still here.
They have been known by a lot of music lovers, now spilling over through other countries that have sister groups, including MNL48.
The hardship of surviving the industry is very real, but "hardwork will always be rewarded" , as Takahashi Minami AKB48 Team A would always say. (yes, I've done my research before I even say "I'm not a fan").
With MNL48 getting much hate, that is because they started off with poor exposure, and their handlers had not even explained properly to the general audience why they are holding auditions for an Idol group. They should've at least explained the history of it, about JPOP, from where the Idol idea originated from, and why the concept is "Kawaii" (cute). Instead, they just let the hate go through the girls who are now part of the group. Howelse would you perceive a group to be laughable and undeserving for attention if no one has any idea why they are formed?
I'm one of those who appreciate and criticize talent in any form, even if it's not our own. MNL48 doesn't deserve the hate, and their management SHOULD stand by them, and protect them. The idol concept they are promoting is to have the members develop their talents while the audience see their progress over time, and still support them even if one of them decides to graduate from the group. This is very different from KPOP idols who are packaged talents right off the bat of their debut, but how they market their talent is very much the same as western music artists. Every wonder why KPOP is very popular with Westerners? Though no hate against them, but it's refreshing to hear another genre.
I'm not going to say "give them a chance for this group". They are already working their charm in proving haters wrong slowly but surely. Local Filipino artists need not to be worried about popularity, but more on making much better songs, and I mean, much much better. MNL48 is doing the same, but promoting a clean version of the JPOP music genre, japanese songs translated Tagalog/English. Filipinos should be used to that genre if you have been watching tagalized animes since you're young, it almost sounds like that.
Salute to these girls who had the courage to stand on the stage no matter what. Keep going. Fight for your dreams!

This song just reminds me of those times when we were less edgy. Back when simple yet catchy songs ruled the airwaves. Back when shampoo commercials become dance crazes. Back when people slammed during a concert to a song about exercising. Music in those times weren't masterpieces but I think people were happier.
those were the 90's when kids still play outside and getting dirty without a care in the world. The 2000's was when kids demand to have gadgets and games consoles. And now, guess how this era went into? This song gives that vibe back of finding fun without looking into screens all the time. May pag-asa pa.

thats becuase malaysia and indonesias language stayed intact. both countries also have similar outside influence. namely sailors from the middle east bringing islam and arabic. thats why they have majority arabic borrowed words.
philippines although origin of the austronesian race lost most, but not all, of the language due to chinese sailors/merchants from the north sea. bringing hokkien and culture. then came the spanish brought catholism and spanish words with them

Music is in the blood of Filipinos. Internationally, Filipinos are renowned for their singing and dancing skills, train them properly and they will give you astounding results. Philippines is in the grip of the Hallyu wave nowadays, as such they expect more of a professional stage. Don't give them the 48 training whereas they learn by watching their seniors and practicing by themselves. Train them properly and I assure you MNL48 will soar. MNL48 has the potential to be the first in vocals and dance performance in the 48 group, just give them the right training and the right song. Let them be the pioneers in a different kind of training and music for the 48 group, I'm sure they can handle it. I'm not a fan yet of this group but I can see the center has the charisma. -From an old AKB48 fan. ( A 48 fan from the time of Acchan and Yuko rivalry.)

This era is actually really powerful. I still don't get how they did not go viral this time. Just think of it. They released Pag-ibig Fortune Cookie which is the most popular song in all of 48G and undeniably MNL48's most popular song as well. Plus they also released Palusot Ko'y Maybe and First Rabbit which are also two of their most recognizable songs despite being just coupling songs (b-sides). If all of their TV appearances now happened during this era, their fate would have been different.

@@aidy6215 Aww, yes, good point. I remember that. I'm from Pangasinan but I had an important family occasion to attend to when they had a mall show here so I wasn't able to be there and show support. I regret not going and I remember being sad and frustrated when I found out about the boo-ing incident. Being an MNL48 supporter was kind of hard that time, even though you'd tell people that the group is good and has so much potential, they'd bring up the mess that was Showtime era, and even if you'd tell them that they've improved a lot from that, they would still say bad things.
