- I've been regularly fishing for lake trout for over 15 years now, and mostly through the ice. On this day, I'm finally able to tie into the holy grail, a 40 pound lake trout, along with some other big fish. I hope you enjoy!

Good work man. Toughest part about self filming is telling a story, toughest part about editing your own stuff is how much you hate to hear yourself talk. I loved the story, I stayed engaged and that is a huge fish!!!

Nice fish.. SHOULD NOT HOLD AGAINST YOUR COAT IT YAKES ALL SLIM OFF FISH NOT GOOD. AWESOME
Can’t hold it against coat. Can’t put it on the ice. Can’t put it on a towel. Cant put it in hard plastic sled. Can’t hold it with fingers in gill plate. Can’t hold it with your off hand too far forward or it’ll crush his organs. Can’t hold it by the tail or it can break the tail. I know I know. I’ve heard it all. It’s amazing these fish survive ;)

Very good job , reeling in those giants. I see so many people have the drag set to tight , which will cause the line to break and you did it perfectly . I can feel how cold it was in your voice ! Your living the dream !

Congrats what a fish you did an amazing job of videoing I'm 71 and I have arthritis in my hands from ice fishing but I always wore knee pads my two buds didn't and both have had knee replacements we use a ten inch auger and 2 holes 47 lbs my PB thru the ice my buds got a 54 and a 63 up here in Canada I feel your pain and excitement all our fish were 50 inches long just heavier no pics back then and the fish fed our families so good you released it no-one did back when absolutely great channel thank you
Thank you for the kind words sir! I would love to see pics of those big fish, but like you said, there are none to have! I used to do the same with the 10” double hole. No I have an 8” auger so I make a triple!

Awesome! hearing that line snap as it swam around the hole near the end, gave me shivers. Super awesome that it has been caught four times. An acquaintance and I caught the same 33 inch walleye out of a river system, about a month apart. Catch and release works.

Everyone has pretty much the answers. But you know the answers can change day to day between presentations and locations.
Each time I go to the gorge I get a little better with both. I'll put in the hours and eventually I'll gain the knowledge like you and the Diaz family to slam a couple of pigs here and there.
I've had opportunities, but I missed some part of information, or did something wrong and learned to try again. And that my friend is why I keep binge watching your videos. When you get this far invested in to achieving your goals, you and your videos do teach a lot more than you know. Anyways I'll stay jealous, you stay slaying them monsters for the rest of us to watch.

I never did. I got ahold of a couple world class taxidermists and none had a mold that big! A few guys seem to have a big enough mold but their artwork has been subpar.

Just curious, what weight line do you use and how long are your leaders?
25 lb braid necked down to 17 lb Fluoro. I make my leaders about 10 foot and then replace when they get to be about 4 foot.

Your scale is off, way off. If you put the measurements of your fish into the lake trout formula it works out to about 46 lb. I also know one of the guys you have pictured. He told me the fish was over 42 lbs. in 2019.
