The year was 1967 and I graduated from High School and this song came on my radio and blew me away. It was different from any other Rock music that I had ever heard before. I still have a copy of that first album by the Doors. They remain one of the top bands of all time 57 years later.

I'm 70 years old and the Doors are still my favorite group. I can still remember when the radio stations just played the short version of Light My Fire. so that's all I thought it was. when I got the album and heard the long version of Light My Fire for the first time, it just blew me away. I still get a thrill to this day when I hear Light My Fire and many of the other Doors songs.

I saw The Doors in concert in San Diego about 50+ years ago. I was 14. My sister took me to the concert after much begging and pleading. She was in college at Pasadena. We had tickets in the bleachers but that was not good enough for me. I ran down to the floor ( giving my sister a heart attack) where most of the crowd was sitting and worked my way towards the stage. I asked a group sitting there if I could hang with them and sat down. They were (now that I am older and figured it out) passing a joint around. I looked at them, saying what is that? They passed it to me. Jimmy Morrison came on stage then and said welcome to all. He looked directly at me, seeing I had a very small amount left and said: GIVE THAT KID A JOINT!
    AH, DAM! Memories!❤

The single Light My Fire was #1 in 1967 though. It's my "birthday song" since it was #1 on my birth day! And now I'm 55 years old also (2022). It's a fantastic song & I absolutely love that it's my b-day song! Incredible.

Album peaked at No. 2 on the chart in September 1967 (stuck behind the Beatles' Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band) and going on to achieve multi-platinum status. It has sold over 13 million as of 2015. According to [John] Densmore, the Beatles had reportedly bought ten copies of the album, and Paul McCartney has claimed that following the album's release, he wanted his band to capture the Doors' musical style as one of the "alter egos" of the group for their upcoming concept album Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Doors_(album)
Side 1 is their best, with 5 of the 6 (for me) outstanding, and "LMF" anchoring the side. The one I dislike is "Soul Kitchen."

When I was a really young child, like a toddler, my dad would play this song and I always loved it. Now I'm an older child (a teenager) and I still love it. I guess tiny little baby me knew their shit.

That bass piano that Ray is playing sounds spooky and haunting in a very soothing in just a strange way. Reminds me of the 70's when I was just a kid.
