The year was 1967 and I graduated from High School and this song came on my radio and blew me away. It was different from any other Rock music that I had ever heard before. I still have a copy of that first album by the Doors. They remain one of the top bands of all time 57 years later.

This is one of the best examples of 1960s Psychedlia -- a fantastic amalgam Classical, Jazz and Spanish influences, which is what Psychedelic music is all about. Morrison's lyrics are the stuff of legend. This one moves just sooooo right -- then as now. I've got a lot of great memories associated with this tune. Jim (RIP) Ray (RIP)
From 1:17 to 5:53, the first real, extended jam in rock. But then again, The Doors debut album was a total revolution in rock. Every song on it was a masterpiece, in its own right. As for the album as a whole, It raised the bar of what rock was, and could be, to new heights! Absolutely stunning!!!

When Light My Fire hit in 1967 it was played on AM radio constantly. At home I cranked up the AM radio console to listen to it while lying on my back on the floor my head just in front of the speaker. Drove my mom nuts!

I saw The Doors in concert in San Diego about 50+ years ago. I was 14. My sister took me to the concert after much begging and pleading. She was in college at Pasadena. We had tickets in the bleachers but that was not good enough for me. I ran down to the floor ( giving my sister a heart attack) where most of the crowd was sitting and worked my way towards the stage. I asked a group sitting there if I could hang with them and sat down. They were (now that I am older and figured it out) passing a joint around. I looked at them, saying what is that? They passed it to me. Jimmy Morrison came on stage then and said welcome to all. He looked directly at me, seeing I had a very small amount left and said: GIVE THAT KID A JOINT! AH, DAM! Memories!❤
