What an absolutely fantastic intro to such a wide variety of wireless subjects. I don't think I've ever been this excited about a new UA-cam channel before, thank you for such quality content!
Excellent explanation ! Took me straight back to the lab in the 1980's. It's great to see that such measurement equipment is finally available to the masses. I won't tell you what our equipment budget was back then ;-)
This new channel is about 9 hours old and already has over 5,000 subscribers. Your reputation proceeds you! I been flirting at the edge of HAM + new technolgy for some time but never new how to get started.
All things start with a desire and a first action. This channel will not cover the stuff needed for a current test because the current HAM education/tests are 50 years old at least. It should be interesting for guys interested in technology younger than 50 years ;-)
I liked this video very much! You have managed to find a compromise between going into details and presenting the topic quickly and easily. Danke, Herr Spiess! Please consider updating the affiliate links for the VNAs, I would like to support your channel but the given links are not all functional.
Thanks to Andreas and your video (other channel 359) I bought the NanoVNA (n-type connectors) and after testing a couple of Antennas i realised how usefull is this tool!. It appears that many Antennas are re-branded (i.e. 2.4Ghz, Sold as helium Antenna at 868 etc) and if you dont have such a tool you dont know what you are buying!. Thanks again for making great content!
The Demo board thing is something I've been creating for the cheapy 433mhz stuff. Lowpass filters and a non-inverting trigger fixer on SOT23 blanks. This VNA gear looks interesting. I don't have networks Yet, but antenna help is good.
Starting to experiment with LoRa as a backup communication system in case of... and ordered my NanoVNA V2 last week, hope it gets here soon so that I can start building and testing antennas!
Thanks for the video! Curious if these are still the VNAs you'd recommend or if anything has changed in a year? Also some of your links are now dead, not sure if you get any credit for the purchases but would like to give you credit if you do.
Are you planing on taking a look on the LiteVNA? It is adverteised to work up to more than 6Ghz, so it should work with wifi antennas and it also has 1000+ point sweep.
You find good videos on the subject. It seems to be quite good with features not available in much more expensive devices. The dynamic range, of course, is not as good.
For the benefit of your long time viewers, could you please indicate (early in the description) if this is exclusive content or a repeat. For example, this is a copy of #359 you posted over a years ago. Fortunately, I recognized this fact and saved myself 25 minutes. Maybe as you grow this channel, my memory will fail me and I only have moments of déjà vu. Thanks :)
As said in the teaser video, all of the current videos are cross posts to start the channel and because they are relevant for hams. You should see the difference and also hear it in the opening. Both will be different on this channel.
@@HB9BLA Oh, sorry, I didn't pickup on that in the teaser. I guess the teaser was so exciting, I didn't make it past 60 seconds before clicking on the new channel... LOL Thanks again!!

These are all videos from my main channel. I made a selection of the HAM-related stuff
Excellent video! I have learned a lot in just 25 minutes by such clear explanations. Tausend dank!!
Glad it was helpful!
So true Sir. And the cool guy with the cool Swiss accent always responds! Talking about dedication 😎

Thank you! Indeed, we live in wonderful electronics times. Most things go so cheap and powerful! The only limit is time and fantasy.

You are right with the bad antennas. This is why all my antennas get tested and labelled...

Thes VNAs are mainly used for antennas, filters, and sometimes amplifiers.
Starting to experiment with LoRa as a backup communication system in case of... and ordered my NanoVNA V2 last week, hope it gets here soon so that I can start building and testing antennas!
Cool! I am sure you will like your VNA...
Very informative video … saved me a lot of time … I picked up a nanovna at a Hamfest for $5US … I know now to go looking for the calibration kit.
Exactly. Usually they come with one… But probably not for 5 dollars ;-)
Best video for VNA. Thanks a lot! 73
Glad you liked it!
1.75K subs already!
Indeed!
Always great channel ❤
Oh heck yeah!🥰 I'm with ya
These are very important instrument. Luckily they got cheap these days...
Outstanding video, Andreas!
Thank you!
Thank You! 💜👍
You are welcome!
Great idea for a new channel well done and thanks . Simon G8HAM
Glad you like the idea (and subscribed, of course)

I recently updated the links. So they should be up-to-date.
Thanks
Welcome!

I already own quite a few VNAs... And I do not trust this one. It is too cheap. I probably will wait for the V3
@@HB9BLA in your description you stated that it is "currently the best vna" so what is the case now? ^^ is it good? or not?
@@juergenw7495 In the meanwhile I had a chat with a knowledgeable man and he confirmed that the LiteVNA is very good.
@@HB9BLA that what i thought, thanks for your reply :D
Like it, keep it up, thank you for sharing the video :)
You are welcome!
You still don't explain how you get the electrical delay calculated. Is it by length of the cable?
It is not calculated. Just experimented by adjusting the point where it belongs.
Anyone any thoughts on tinySA ? Is it as good as nanoVNA?
And Andreas, thank you for excellent content! Greetings from Slovenia!

Keeping my eyes on your new channel. VA3DHW
Very good! 73
Great idea! 73’s de ON8NP
Glad you like it. 73
My VNA and SA want to join the Team Banzai, Hong Kong Cavaliers Band. Yea, I can sing a little, and dance
Cool! I hope I understand (I had to google " Team Banzai, Hong Kong Cavaliers Band").

Yes, it grows quite fast...
Holy cow! If you look at my comment a minute earlier it was 1.75k.
