Thank you for this excellent video. You were so precise on this repair and the camera captured every step without fail. I have watched many other people's welding videos and often can't hardly see anything!
Thanks for the great quality video. Just got a PUK 04 after getting 2!! cheaper Chinese version, for the sole task of inlaying/applique' different colour metals. I think I learn a bit already about importance of keeping a clean sharp point,i see you changed it after a few shots. Intial experiments worked OK,but still a bit slow. No doubt it will take a lot of practice,to get it under control.
Yes some gold got onto the electrode. When that happens it greatly effects the weld, it doesn't want to weld cleanly and makes quite a mess, blowing the metal around all over the place. In this case it's always necessary to change the electrode to a nice sharp one, the difference is amazing.
thanks very nice job. Not about job but i would like to ask you something about PUK 3s PRO+. How do you keep the machine at night ? Do you turn off every thing( Machine ,argon vs) or just stay like as stand by by swiching button which is front of the machine. THANKS
Hi, I leave the argon on overnight and over the weekend but turn it off if I go on holiday. The local supplier said it's ok to do that. I mainly do that because it seems to lose less argon than if I close the valve on it. Maybe my valve leaks when in the OFF position and doesn't leak in the ON position. It's best to do what leaks less. I turn the puk off each night, both on the unit and at the mains.
Really sorry but I only ever do work for the jewellery shops I regularly deal with in the UK. I'm sure there are shops that will be able to help you as some have access to welders.
The settings are always in the description. The equivalent of GAP mode on a puk5 is the middle one of the five at the bottom of the screen but the one on the right hand end is gentler on the stone. Be VERY careful around coloured stones. With the argon flow setting, I always have it set at the lowest flow rate I can get away with that doesn't give the "gas error" message. That way I am not wasting argon.
bakshi sony In the UK it is £3350 +VAT. I don't know about the price in other countries. You could contact the manufacturer for information www.lampert.info/en/home
Matthew Peterson Yes, with some metals it's fine but others are really bad. If it's a poor quality casting or if there is solder in the area , there will be porosity. If it's nice new metal then I don't get much if any porosity. I use a hammer drill or a porosity tool to compress the porosity which usually gets rid of it.
tribletman Thank you. Unfoetunately, out of amateur range... Have you ever tried any of those $100 ebay machines? They don't have a retract, but otherwise look fine on paper.
elektrinis Sorry to hear that, mate. For tiny welds on stuff like jewellery you will need a Lampert or Orion welder with a microscope included. They are not cheap unfortunately.

Thanks for that, they are difficult to film because the camera gets in the way of your hands, being so close up but it seemed to work.

Thank you very much indeed. I just purchased a puk3s pro+ and training with your video. That’s very helpful.
Can I send a piece to you to be repaired? I was told by another shop they couldn't fix it bc the main stone would crack.

Great skill again, what settings do you use for that job? Took your advise on the other video, worked a treat, cheers Sam

Gostaria de Saber se o senhor usa fio de Ouro ou Solda
Mykko Rocha
usei um fio dourado de 18ct para adicionar à solda. Traduzido por Google porque eu sou inglês.
Is it laser welding?
It is Micro Pulse Arc welding, using tungsten electrode.
Do you get porosity when welding?
