Yeah and disgusting feeding off a rat Eww!! 😣 Edit: I don’t know why I said this I guess I was disgusted and didn’t think about he can’t get illness or disease
One part I love, that nobody seems to appreciate , is when instead of applauding claudia's piano playing he taps his cane on the floor. What a highborn aristocratic snobbish badass.
That was a flaw I'd found with the original book, even if it's a well-written favorite. Louis tended to lapse into these brooding, self-existential monologues that dragged portions of the story, nearly grinding them to a halt. Anne Rice had the right idea when she shifted the narrative to Lestat in her second vampire chronicle novel. I found it juiced up the pace and, let's face it, Lestat's the more likeable and complex character in the end. Possessed this main protagonist quality that was suited for many adventures.
Exactly. He has a very predatorial something. He doesn't strikes you as a killer, but something inside him, maybe the lack of humanity, makes us uneasy around the guy. In that aspect, Cruise NAILED the character from the book.
I always enjoyed how Lestat laughs when Louis rushes him; like the idea of Louis actually trying to beat him to death is so absurd as to be laughably adorable.
I've almost finished this entire series, I'm a little sad (actually more than a little) to be honest, These books really have enlightened me in many ways I did not think possible! Lestat is always been my favorite though, Tom Cruise really did a great job portraying him!
I'm rereading the series, getting ready to read the last 2. RIP Anne Rice.. 😢 Akasha has always been my favorite. But, Louis runs a close second. And poor Claudia.
I absolutely adore this movie, and Lestat's laugh is the kind where it's impossible not to laugh with him. But who holds a cup like Louis does??? I seriously paused the movie to say "the hell?" when I was watching it. :)
Louis still respects life and as Armand says it makes him beautiful. The fact that he doesn't like killing makes him unique and makes him still feel at least a little human. I think he's an interesting character.
It's better with his much lengthier Narration in the book. Because he's a deeply religious person. And because Holly objects do not harm him this shows he's probably not damned. So this contradiction just eats at his mind.
@@klaraluz In the books? Not so much. At least not in the end. He became cold and ruthless eventually and surprisingly Lestat later claimed his anger towards him for saying "so many lies about him"
Louis is a bad vampire. he's described in the later books as imperfect. which is why Lestat was so cruel in the first book. he loved Louis and needed him to become perfect or he'd die. I love that about Lestat.
I totally agree. The book "The Vampire Lestat" is my favorite, cause you can know more about his life before he turned into a vampire, and even after he became a vampire. I mean he was awesome as a human and more awesome as a vampire :)
Obviously what made me angriest about this whole movie was that they NEVER kissed. Not ONCE. And SO MANY homoerotic undertones,it was like watching porn.
It's not homoerotic. Their humanity is gone. It's part of the psychology of the characters. It's the tragedy of beautiful vampires who cannot truly appreciate beauty because the only desire is of blood. So much so that they project feelings of "desire" on other areas of life. Like fake romance and fake sexuality. It's just expression for them. They don't desire sex, or romance. They desire blood. But with deceptive personalities, they try to seem human to appeal to one another's longing for their own humanity. Longing is one of the strongest and most consistent emotions for a vampire. And they manipulate each other using the very longing and bloodlust that they themselves feel.
Lestat loves Louis dearly and Louis alternates between tolerating and despising Lestat. Now, if "The Vampire Lestat" were ever made into a film, I would expect Lestat and Nicki to kiss.
They don't love each other like that: they are no longer men, and not driven by ordinary hungers. And in any case, Louis hates Lestat for robbing him of his humanity.
Those of us who have read the books know that Lestat was in fact the far more carrying vampire. Lestat rarely killed innocent people but gave Louis the choice to freely decide without lestat telling him what to do.
Exactly. :) I'm re-reading the series for the third time now and I'm on "The Vampire Lestat" at the moment. I'm dressing up as him for Halloween this year as well. It's going to be a fun Halloween! :D
Kavithaashri Samarajoo Brad Pitt and Tom Cruise both Looked very Handsome and beautiful to me, I Can't choose Because I Love Both LESTAT AND LOUIS #Loustat
Yeah most the of people Lestat killed were not nice people. But he did some times kill the innocent. But as Lestat told Louis god kills inderscrimately and no creature is so god as vampire . I mean Lestat wasn’t a Bad person yet Magnus killed him by turning him into a vampire and god let it happen. It’s kind of sad if You think about it.
Poor rat and poodles. I really, really hope they weren’t hurt, harmed or killed for real. I love Lestat and Louis though. Louis is cute. May Lestat, Louis, the animals, Anne Rice, the rest of the cast and the other makers all be perfectly well, healthy, happy and safe, and may they also always be kind and compassionate, and feel no ill effects, only positive effects... Have the best day and night ever!
I read the books in the order written and I still preferred Lestat over Louis in IwtV...I don't know, but Lestat just as a more unpredictable and interesting character than Louis does. I was glad the remaining of most of the series revolved around him, to say the least. Louis may be sentimental, but I couldn't handle his whining for 4+ books...Thank God for Lestat's perspective on life! All hail the Brat Prince!
It's too bad that Cruise wasn't offered more villain/ambiguous roles (or that he didn't accepted more ? But I think it's less likely) In Collateral, In Interview with a vampire, or even in his cameo in Tropic Thunder he's great, I feel like he's enjoying playing these characters more than the hero
Ugh! My heart broke when I read you don't like Louis. Of course Louis isn't a "good vampire". That's the entire point of his tale. He's a good person, but a terrible vampire. And all the vampires desire him, because he's the most human of them all. Everything in the entire Vampire Chronicle series is set into motion by Louis and his interview with Daniel Molloy. In Queen of the Damned, Akasha turns to Louis and tells him he's the most dangerous of them all. Because he holds everything in and snaps on anyone/thing he can feed on when he can't hold back anymore. Lastly, Louis IS Anne Rice's interpretation of herself, her loss of religious faith and her mourning the loss of her 5 year old daughter, Michelle. I adore Louis!
God, they need to make more good vampire movies really (soon)!!!!! I mean, I think twilight isn't that bad, but I don't like being left with in fresh in my head because no one has made a better vampire movie like interview with a vamp yet..
I love Louis but sometimes I wish I could just slap him and tell him to shut up. (Granted, Lestat has this effect on me as well, especially in Tale of The Body Thief and Memnoch the Devil)
Remember in human life Lestat was the wolfkiller. Killing an entire pack of wolves and the town folks skinned the wolves and made Lestate a red velvet cloak lined with gray wolf fur pelts. his beginning were in the book "Lestat". so he was always brave and strong ....Louis is the "artistic" type!
Even though Louie wasn't a very good vampire he did have a human morality and sense of having a conscience to know what is right and what is wrong even though he made the mistake of biting a young girl lestat was extremely foolish and didn't know the laws of turning people immortal so Louie had to loose his beloved daughter and his new wife due to lestat's ignorance but in the end Louie was a better vampire than lestat .
He was blonde. He was described as yellow-blonde with grayish blue eyes that turned into iridescent purple up to one point. Marius was blonde too indeed. Louis was not brunette but black-haired with green eyes. Armand was not black-haired but of auburn hair and sometimes curly. Akasha had black eyes and not green Claudia and Gabrielle were both blonde with curly hair and blue eyes
I love how he strokes the rat like it's a treasured pet before and after draining it! Truly a psychopathic gallant xD
Yeah and disgusting feeding off a rat Eww!! 😣
Edit: I don’t know why I said this I guess I was disgusted and didn’t think about he can’t get illness or disease
sunset1289 he’s a vampire stfu
Lestat is a hot mess 🤣🤣🤣
He is not psychopathic. He is an opportunitic predator. He long ago accepted what he is, and so he is more adaptive than Louis.
One part I love, that nobody seems to appreciate , is when instead of applauding claudia's piano playing he taps his cane on the floor. What a highborn aristocratic snobbish badass.
Faithshade 1 I noticed too!!
Hahaha well he WAS an aristocrat after all! I suppose old habits die hard!
Yes yes, tut tut.
Yeah I love that scene 😂❤️
Oh Louie Louie Louie... Always whining!! I can't get over how MAGNIFICENT Cruise was in this.

He's like a moody emo teenager with Lestat heh, any more emo and those lawns woulda cut themselves and everyone elses
those teenager pink letters in the beginning of the video... god...

I love how when Lestat laughs you cant help but smile too. But at the same time part of me is looking at those fangs and going "... hoooly crap!"
Poor Louis. Cursed with the emotions of a human in the body of a vampire.
Love this movie. Watched it so many times. Both Pitt and Cruise really excelled themselves in this film.
Lestat's laugh makes me smile

He is the most human of all vampires. The book says so.
The book also says he's the most ruthless hunter of them all. Good man? Maybe not.

It’s true that Rice’s vampires don’t have or desire sex, but Lestat does love Louis romantically. He says so himself in his own book.
This movie got a lot of bad rep for its homoerotic undertones back in 90s. Small-minded audience and all.
I would gladly Obey Lestat
