Thanks, I love both sounds... have also been listening to the era 1...., but I will need enough power, so will go for the era 2... THANKS for all your help! (and I love the woody look.)
Yes I would go for the 2 if you don’t mind the extra size and weight. Thanks!
Jim Etherington asks ... 'wondering whether to go down H & K Era 2 route ? 'Have used a 200 watt AER Domino 3 for several years now, find the sound I want on stage, perch it on a table/tall bar stool, use as a monitor and then feed it through a pair of RCF'S (1400 watt 12" speakers) for the purpose of playing in noisy pubs/wedding venues. Guitar I use is either a Parker classic or Parker Mojo with piezo option, and I've noticed recently the clip lights on both instrument and vocal channels are lighting up more frequently now, and also noticeable is the distortion that comes with it. It's no good people advising you to play quietly when you need clarity and to be able to hear oneself! For those that use the ERA 2, do you think the extra 200 watts would be able to produce that clarity without distortion ? What's Mark Bell's experience?
Hi JIm. It should work better for you but the only way to really know is to compare it directly to what you have already. Maybe there is a store where you can compare or a site that would offer a trial period?
@@aaronshortmusic Thanks for your reply, Aaron. The music store near us (Absolute Music, Poole) used to deal in H and K and did have the era 1 a couple of years ago, but they no longer deal with this amp. The AER sounds fantastic in the house as always, and I'm unable to get the clip lights flashing, but 300 people in a big wedding celebration inevitably changes the dynamic! I'll keep looking / searching for answers on Acoustic Forum and see if any solutions are forthcoming.
@@moniqueetherington3657 300 people is a lot. I would consider getting a 1000-2000 watt system...
@@aaronshortmusic Jim says .... Everyone tells me that the only way to go is to incorporate a sound desk in order to have a separate monitor system on stage. I'm reluctant to do so as 1) it's more stuff to carry (no roadie sound engineer) 2) more complicated to control, so was wondering if I could somehow maintain simplicity by using a more powerful amp. It would seem that my present AER Domino 3 is about the same weight as the Era 2.
If needs must, I have 4 x rcf 1400 watt RCF FOH speakers - 2x 12" and 2x 15 " speakers, + 2 ev sxa 350 (500 watts each), totalling over 6k for front of house, but the onstage problem remains!
Hello my friend, I have bought the Hughes & Kettner era2 and the amp does have the FX presets but I think it lacks more effects. Will the TC helicon play acoustic give me many more acoustic effects to be played in church?
Yes it will.
Hello Aaaron, after much thought and reviews I have ordered myself the H & K ERA 2 Black. You have mentioned on this demo that you have not been using the preamp of the H & K. Can you tell me which & make of the pre amp you have been using. Also do you think it would be good for me to get an accessories that I may need . I will be playing in church. Please let me know.
Hi John. I use the TC Helicon Play Acoustic. I would consider mounting the speaker on a pole if possible.
@@aaronshortmusic Thank you Aaron for your guidance. Where can I buy this TC Helicon play Acoustic as I am buying my H & K era 2 from Thomann.
@@johnramsunder4955 They are getting hard to find but Amazon UK currently seem to have stock: amzn.to/3P48Aux
Hello Aaron, I had my mind on this era 2 but if you had to compare between this amp and the ERA Compact 60/4 which would be a better choice in terms of headroom and clarity. Most impt. is the decibels of the line out than the wattage which sound engineers say is important is the decibels. please advise me which you think would be a better amp for me to choose. I will be playing it mainly in church.
I haven’t directly compared them but I would say the Era 2.
How do you set up your voicelive 3 with this unit? I’d be interested to here a detailed run down of how you set up your acoustic in the VL3, and how much tweaking is need on the Era. Ta.
Hi John! For the demo I had guitar and voice going out separately to each channel but I wouldn’t normally do that. I would connect it in mono with one cable and control everything from the VL3. You could leave the ERA flat and just adjust its EQ for the room.
Aaron Short Music thanks for your reply. Have you ever considered doing a vid on how you set up the VL3 for acoustic guitar and acoustic live performance. There are so many eQ´ ing options on the vl3 that even sound engineers who have sat with me and dug into the amp section have burst out laughing in bewilderment that they would make it so complicated. ( even when in global acoustic mode ) And i mean for playing loud and live, not at home in a wee room. Ta.
Hi Aaron. Are you still planning on reviewing your new Rainsong Vintage Series guitar? I'd love to hear more about it.
Hey Russell. I feel I’ve said a lot about it already but a full review is on the cards. What would you like me to cover and include?
@@aaronshortmusic I'll go back and check out what you've already said. I've owned lots of Rainsongs as well as other CF guitars and really my main question is if the spruce infused top lends any more of a warm and woof-like tone or if it's just cosmetic. Thanks, by the way, for all the great work you do!
Russell Graves Thanks! My feeling so far is that it is mostly cosmetic but it looks awesome!
@@aaronshortmusic Thanks Aaron, it does look awesome indeed!
Hello Aaron, can you send me a pic. of the TC Helicon play acoustic or if your can give me the model and type to buy that you are using. Having you been using this for some time?. Regards
I have been using this pedal for the past ten years. It’s amazing!
@@aaronshortmusic Really love to contact you. I see there are many if you can please give me the model you have, I will buy the same as well. Kind Regards my friend.

Hi Aaron, seeing that you are familiar with the H & K era 2 and the effects it has. Therefore in your opinion would you say that the TC Helicon play acoustic will make a difference to what is on board the H & K?.. I ask this question because I never plugged into an acoustic amp or used these effects before. Your guidance is of tremendous help to me.
@@johnramsunder4955 I didn’t compare them. It will be good to have the option of both.
I would get brown. Most amps are black. The wood looking one just seems to go well with acoustics for me.
I didn’t used to think like that but after owning a bunch of black amps I wanted something different lol.
Hi Aaron, when will be the Larry Fishman interview?
Thursday. I hope you can make it!
