Y'all are *_SOOO_* close when you ask, "what came first? The insulin resistance or the [X]".
But you can peel back one more layer to find the actual root cause of PCOS.
If you peel back the insulin resistance layer, you find the root cause of PCOS (and metabolic syndrome).
At the very bottom of those conditions you will find chronic elevated blood sugar and insulin.
When you create a situation where there is chronic elevated sugar and insulin flowing around in the blood to all the cells of your body, you will slowly see conditions like insulin resistance, metabolic syndrome, and PCOS develop.
    Here's just one example:
One symptom that falls under the PCOS umbrella is heavy menstruacarbohydratesThe more insulin the endometrial lining is exposed to insulin, the larger it will grow (because insulin encourages growth).
The larger the endometrial lining, the more blood.
    And that's just one example.
List any PCOS symptom, and you can trace it back to either excessive sugar or insulin (or both) in the blood.
So, to reverse and prevent PCOS, you need to focus on getting blood sugar and insulin under control.
The three main sources of chronic elevated blood sugar and insulin are:
    A) Poor sleep
    B) Chronic stress
    C) Dietary carbohydrates
The more you deal with those three areas, the more normal and stable your blood sugar and insulin levels will be.
Look up videos about improving sleep and decreasing stress, and follow the tips.
For carbs, stay under 20g total carbs per day to put your blood sugar and insulin control onto auto-pilot.
    Forget about fiber.
The absolute most you can get is a 30% reduction in blood sugar spike per meal by adding fiber.
That's just never going to be enough because most women are eating *_hundreds_* of grams of carbs a day.
For example, you're getting at least 25g carbs from a bowl of oatmeal with three strawberries.
That's 6 sugar cubes worth of glucose hitting your blood in just one meal.
It's blood sugar and insulin at the root.
