I appreciate the shoutout! I also started with the exact same hardness files set but quickly discovered that with +/- 2.5 HRC tolerance, it was too big of a ballpark! (please substitute whatever Cricket analogy you use for an exceedingly long shot)

@@CuttingBoardRx well, sir, for what you do that level of imprecision in the tolerance is certainly unacceptable. In the instance of verifying a manufacturer's claims, for instance, the files could hardly be of service.
As you can see, though, I'm still at a fairly rinky-dink phase of development in many observable ways. So for the level I'm at, they can be quite helpful. I tested a cheap Chinese machete the other day that scratched on the penultimate file. So I was able to conclude that the blade is fairly hard, by machete standards.
I don't think a Rockwell here or there is so significant in terms of user experience of a beater machete and finally I got some more practical feedback by incidentally banging her off a rock well and hard!

@@CuttingBoardRx oops I forgot about the market research thing!
      If you please,
Would you sport a bladeless multitool as your aeroplane-carry? I could see it as a potential holdup at security, not for long, but perhaps rather frequent.
Do you have any thoughts asides regarding this concept? I welcome any
      input: positive, negative, indifferent.
      Thanks for stopping by :D

@ I don’t think TSA would allow any multitool that has any sharp edges including scissors and saws

@CuttingBoardRx I wouldn't have thought so either - but it occurred to me to check credible online sources and by accounts the scissors are TSA compliant. If memory serves the rule is sub-3". Therefore the multitool sans blade allegedly qualifies for carrying onto the plane, as much as a sewing kit or manicure kit. I saw no contraindications during my cursory exploration.
If the assertion does prove correct, might you find this TSA-EDC avenue of interest?
I am genuinely interested in your opinion here. You have knowledge of and insight into the market. You might even be willing to perform an impartial review once I have a serviceable prototype. That would be of greatest interest, given your technical insight.

@ It’s hard to answer a question like this. If you feel that there’s a market for your ideas, go for it and don’t let anyone tell why you should or shouldn’t. I personally don’t need a knife or a multitool aboard an airplane, just something to feel the void! A flat flashlight weighing 2.5-4.5 oz seems perfect. And I’ve used my Case twice in the past year to help fellow passengers locate an earbud and reading glasses that fell into the dark cramped voids under the seats.
