I've been away from the UK for six years and I'm really missing home, so this was a lovely slice of Blighty. I will be in Scarborough on returning, so it's great seeing the jewels of Yorkshire, God's second county!
Hi, really enjoying your videos, your enthusiasm is great and keeping it simple is how I like to fish. What strength line do you use for the barbel ? And do you use flouro for the hook length ? Looking forward to seeing your other videos
Cracking session, roving for barbel is always great fun, some stunning coloured barbel too, out of interest, are your rods advanta discovery power barbel rods, 2lb test, only I have a set and for the price, are stunning rods, I use them now for smaller rivers but proved there worth on the middle trent for barbel ,are you planning any future trips on any big rivers at all?, love your videos, good health and safe travels my friend, cheers craig
They are advanta twin tips in 1.6lbs tc. I like them as they cover lots of fishing options for me from bream and chub using the lighter quiver tips to barbel on the Avon style tips. I have some greys rods for chucking heavy feeders on bigger rivers.
The cut off may of been pike I’ve court a few pike on luncheon meat while Barbel fishing two in consecutive casts on the swale 👍🎣 the other year couldn’t believe it
I think that's a Tansy Beetle at 0.27. Where was this, exactly, please? These beetles are nationally rare and I would love to know where they are on the Foss.
Well spotted, and I thought the same thing initially. After comparison to a few ID guides I believe it to be a green dock beetle. Also this is on the Nidd.
@@riverfossfishing Won't be a Tansy, then. I didn't think I recognised the scenery as being on the Foss. A few Tansy Beetles have been introduced along the length near St Johns Playing Fields where Rowntrees Cricket Club used to play.

Well done Ewan, a very productive session
Many thanks, certainly can't complain!

Thanks, glad you enjoy them. I use 13lb mainline with either 10 or 12lb hook lengths, usually just mono but sometimes braid or fluro.
Great job !!! well done mate 👍👍👍
Thank you! Cheers!
Nice video, is that the Nidd?

Something I did think about as I have had pike from this river! I think as it broke quite far up the hook link it was off a snag.

Nice session. It's all too easy to lose barbel on there, as it is rove and avoid them.
Very true! They can be elusive!
@@riverfossfishing Oh yes. Normally the best way of avoiding them is to go barbel fishing.🤣
Did you have your hook-link attached with a loop knot,if so it always breaks at the knot.
...was a few inches below the knot... but I know exactly what you mean
If you don’t mind me asking which river is that?
