My parents brought me home in a brand new 1968 New Yorker.
Dad's best story was racing a Corvette on the NJ Turnpike at 150 mph until the Vette's engine blew up!
These are REAL Chryslers...unlike the crap they pawn on the public today!
I am the oldest of six, at 13 years old Dad was forced to trade his beautiful beloved 64 Imperial Crown Coupe in on a wagon, after Mom told the family we were going to have another sibling, added to my sister an brother at the time, so Dad special ordered a new 68 Chrysler Town&Country Beach Wagon! In beautiful metallic maroon with matching three row leather interior! Loaded with every option available! Like AM/FM Stereo with 4 speakers, power seats with arm rests front and rear, trailer towing package with hitch and 3:09 posi trac, instead of 2:73 open differential, that helped make it a tank in snow! The best part was the honking 440/4 brl dual exhaust Commando engine. We all learned how to drive in that car, plus took our road tests! After I was Honorably Discharged from The U.S.Army Dad let me use it as a daily driver till I bought something else. On more than one occasion in my youthful crazed fate tempting acts I had the speedometer buried! Where the needle went past 120, into the clock! Dad finally sold it after my baby sister got her own car, in 1988, after HS, with 150,000 hard but well cared for miles of My high speed hyjinxs, towing the family boat and all of us waiting at the bottom of the hill for the bus in the winter snow!
Wow I totally loved your happy story! LOVED IT.
I imagined being you and seeing through your eyes !
I am tremendously happy for you and your super cool dad that obviously loved his family and loved doing his best for all of you ! I admire him greatly !
God Bless You and Your Fam !!!
The 60s Chryslers are my favorite 😈
The '68 Chryslers were possibly the most handsome cars Chrysler ever made IMO.
John Tapscott I agree completely.
No, the ‘69 to ‘71 fuselage-style Chryslers were clearly more handsome. Unlike the ‘67’s and ‘68’s the fuselage motif was uncluttered and consistent from bumper to bumper. Unfortunately the ‘68’s probably had better build quality.
@@fairfaxcat1312 I'm sorry, but surely jest. The fuselage shape was some of Chrysler worst styling. It was the beginning of Chrysler starting to look like GM and Ford. Look at 68 Chev Impala compared to 68 Plymouth Fury. Worlds apart. Now compare the same cars from 69 very similar. The fuselage shape was the beginning of Chrysler's decline
@@mandymcinerney2816 Whether it’s the “worst”-I think it is the best, ‘68 to ‘70 Chargers are absolutely iconic-you would also have to acknowledge if you are consistent that the ‘68 Fury slab styling is copied from Elwood Engel’s early ‘60’s Fords. Many similarities between the ‘64-‘66 Imperial and the slab styled JFK death car.
I own a 68 300 and I think the 66 was nicer
I had a 68 Newport convertible. What a beauty. 383 with tons of power. ,would pass everything but a gas station!
The rear end of the 300 looked awesome'
My dad bought a new 68' Newport with a 383 and optional 4bbl. It was the first car we had with A/C. We took a vacation out west that summer and I remember driving through death valley and the a/c compressor locked up, we were screwed. The compressor was part of the belt routing and trying to drive with it locked up had smoke rolling out from under the hood. Anyway we spent 2-days in a sketchy motel while the car was getting fixed.
orange70383 Many a vacation was ruined by our piss purr quality ‘71 Newport Custom too. The fuselage product looked better but it was constructed more poorly than your ‘68.
Fantastic CHRYSLER. Keep on posting these wonderful videos. CHRYSLER beautiful cars that made American motor cars the most desirable at those times. GREAT JOB!!!!!
Unique and distinctive style
That's when they were second to none!!!!!!!!!
For a big, full size car - handled very well.
thank you so very much for posting all you vids for mopars!! I grew up with all the sales films that you post!!! happen to notice that this is your 318 vid!! good motor!! thanks again my friend!!
I’ve always thought the 68s were really beautiful.
I love this channel!!!
Thanks for posting!!!
That must have been the last year men wore fedora hats. I just saw a meme the other day that showed a family shopping in the mid 60's that said, "Remember when you didn't go shopping in your pajama's?"
Always liked the 300.
Just some really great stuff. I am now going to view all of your vids.
I wish I still had my '68 300, a burgundy hardtop w/ the 350hp 440.
Should have kept my mom and dads pristine, low mile 68 Newport. Just a 383 4bbl but could have easilly improved performance - torsion bars made high speed handling easy.
Where is my nearest Chrysler dealer? Those 68's are sharp!
The dealers sold out long ago, but you might get lucky and find one at Pick and Pull.
@@kennethsouthard6042 LMFAO 😂
Beautiful ❤ It 😊
Nice.
Why wasn't the Imperial mentioned? It was sold that year.
Imperial was considered a separate brand meant to compete with Cadillac and Lincoln.
And the hat room..OMF!
I HAD THIS CAR
DALE thebelldiver
Me too. My first car at 17 in 1973 was a used ‘68 Newport Custom 4door hardtop with bucket seats. It also had the disc brake option, power windows and AM FM touch tune radio with foot switch. I loved that car. Then, I found a ‘68 300 convertible with 440, buckets seats and console in 1979. I’ve always been a Mopar guy. Now I want another ‘68 300 convertible.
First year of the side marker lights.
Dyno Don And Chrysler’s last year for side marker lights until the 1970’s came out.
I was hoping to move up this year. Probably can’t afford to do it ‘till a couple years from now.
did you spend all your money on a suit, tie and hat?
chieftp Ho! Not too long ago that was a regular sight throughout the ballpark.
boy howdy those were the days! that was the stuff that killed Roxy!
I guess Plynouth is still in the cards for you
@@1983jblack Yep, I’m one of those cautious types. When Harris-Biden thought it a good idea to spend 1.9 trillion and now wants to spend another 3 or 4 trillion on more Democrat ideas pretty soon someone’s going to have to watch their wallet.
After the 60's, car designs throughout the industry changed for the next 30 years as cars became indistinguishable between one another. And while there were some notable models during that time, car manufacturers and so called designers and engineers have come up with ZERO in the way of imagination and innovation in the way of car designs. And quality? What quality? It's all a crying shame 😟
Why cant i chose colours like before. I ordered my Ram silver, and thats rare. Everybody want it black, here in Sweden. I would love my Longhorn in a two tone blue ans silver.
now its a small to mid sized cars
FCA gonna pull the plug soon for Chrysler
And not a crossover or SUV in sight!
But not quiet.

WHAT'S WITH THE FUCKING BEEPS- EVERY VIDEO.... PLEASE EDUCATE ME!!!
It's called a filmstrip. The beep tells you to advance the picture to the next frame
Gorgeous !!!!
With a 440 4bbl ? Giddeeup.
Mopar or no car ... once you've had one good one (not a K car), you will not choose anything else if they are in the choices.
