Stats! If you look at Notre Dame, they weren't great, 31 points per game but if you look at the talent gap between the 2, he could get 50 a game from Bama!! All around good hire; scheme, he knows how to pound the run and knows how to air it out!! He's a creative mind and that fits Alabama!!
In my opinion, this is like bringing back Major Applewhite. This is not a bold move, it is a bland and unimaginative move to a vanilla and predictable offense. I predict 3 losses.
You don’t want to get too heavy in either direction, run or pass. You want to do whatever bothers the other team the most. Sometimes it’s run and sometimes it’s pass.
HORRIBLE HIRE!!! Saban what are you thinking??? Every O.C. we've had the last few years has had many years experience as both O.C. and head coach!! This "KID" (who's only a few years older than many of the players) only has a couple of years of experience and Notre Dame didn't exactly light up the scoreboard while he was there !! Saban im really disappointed in you!!
Does Tommy have the intellectual capacity to play chess and setup defenses like Lane did so well? I have not seen the ND offense play in several years, but the ND message boards are ALL buzzing with glee to be rid of him because his offense was so predictable. I sure hope we don’t have another year of mediocre offense.
Excellent Higher by Nick Saban he hit a home run with Tommy Rees 31-8 in the last 3 years at Notre Dame I mean it's not like they play some week schedule and they just came off of a Fiesta Bowl he's young and he's one of the more sought-after offensive talents in the country I mean why would you want to rehash something old when you can find something younger and more innovative and that's exactly what he is but he also runs the ball first and that's what we need to harken back to at Alabama running the ball first. He was in my top three offensive coordinators with Jeff Lebby and Joe Brady. Brilliant young mind only thirty-year-old. I mean honestly I didn't think Bill O'Brien was anything special when he came to Alabama but Alabama's just a different place altogether than any other school in the country family will certainly make you look good as a coach now it's what you do when you leave that really defines you. Yeah he let's a lot of these coaches come here to rehab and it's rebooted a lot of guys careers. I think that's one thing that he did a little too much was try to rehab some of these older coaches and a lot of these guys are leaving after only a few layers and not staying loyal. I think he's realizing that now that he needs to kind of go away from that and just get these young impressionable coaches that are very Innovative that he can mentor and mold these coaches into decisive winners. And I think he needs to do that with his defensive coordinators. well I'm glad Todd Grantham is out of the picture we didn't need to get that dude and we don't need Jeremy Pruitt... been there done that! I think Nick needs to go after somebody new younger and Innovative and Jim Leonard and Glenn Schumann are perfect matches for the University but there's other guys out there as well. Coach Lake from Washington and there's another guy under-the-radar that people are talking about and that's deshea Townsend an Alabama alumni he's got an incredible defensive mind. It doesn't matter what people think I trust coach Saban and I think this is a home run higher but you're always going to have people who always think he could do better or it's not what they would have done. Saban is shown us that he's still able to easily get the number one recruiting class in the country and one of the best classes we've ever seen I think he's still able to coach at a very high level and pick decisive coaches that can win and that's exactly what he's doing. I like the hire he’s not an old fart 💨 he’s young a fiery. Hard on QBs he played QB. Bo Scarborough said it best on the bama standard. He said Saban isn’t going to hire who everyone thinks he will.
It’s definitely not the choice anyone expected and at first it’s a little shocking. I’ve second guessed Saban a few times and he’s proved me wrong every time so I trust he knows what he’s doing.
I always say Kiss the Rings to Bama haters and I trust Coach Saban to right the ship. He know this is his last 5 years and wants to win 3 more National Championships before he moves on to be Great at something else. Roll Tide and Trust in the Process. We got rid of the divas last year. We only have players that love Bama and want to dominate everyone in their path. Roll Tide and God Bless
That's the issue when 50% of your fanbase are bandwagoners since 2016. All this up-tempo throw the ball 40+ times has resulted in one national title since 2018. Maybe Saban is looking for someone that is young that he can train to take over when he retires. I know Saban is a defensive guy but who knows. Maybe he does the same kind of hire as DC so when he retires Bama can choose between the two.
Don’t know a lot about this guy but I totally trust Nick Saban. He wants to win and whoever he hires for any position I’m sure he has done the research. Roll Tide!!
I worry about Alabama being thin at running back. We have two experienced backs. Neither is elite. The team cannot afford an injury at the RB position.
Amazing the cry babies in the comments. Arm chair head coaches with zero talent. I trust the GOAT to know what he’s doing. But I can get over the whining on here.
Milroe needs to have more confidence in his ability. He hesitates before he throws and that’s dangerous. He needs to learn to trust his ability and the ability of his receivers.

Suspended when playing? Or coaching. I could see Nick Saban get to running the football a little more. Also maybe knowing the tendencies of Brian Kelly at LSU would be good.
This isn’t the slam dunk “GOAT has this thing” hire that Alabama fans were hoping for. Rees’s teams averaged less than 32 points per game. We need a minimum of 40. Now we have a 30 year old SEC newbie set to develop a rookie quarterback. 🙁

Exciting! Roll Tide!
I'D bet Simpson will be our Starting QB he blows Milroe out of the water any day.
We definitely need more of a old style offense that will wear down and beat up and be feared by the opposing defense.
The last we hired a coach from Notre Dame named Thomas it worked out so probably will work out this time

Hartman has more experience but I'm not sure Ty isn't a better quarterback at least in the potential ceiling.
I think you are spot on about Jeremy Pruitt. Saban brings him in as an analyst.
