Honestly, I never understood these subscription package things. If I'm going to trust my life with certain gear then I am going to go out and buy each piece of gear that I specifically want and have researched, not what was randomly put in a box by someone I don't know.
I guess they made several million of that same flashlight in every name you can think of. I got a few of them from the survival channel Free just pay 4.99 shipping.
Sootch with you having so much gear and ideas for survival why don't you give us a Vlog of you bugging out for 24 to 72 hours, I believe that would be a great video. A UA-cam version of Bear Gryls
I actually bought my father a more urban friendly version of that back pack and tried it out before giving it to him. And all the carry methods are really nice
I agree, I'd want quality gear; that I know I'll be able to count on when I need it. Not a treasure box of goodies that they got at the lowest price possible to make a profit.
The long handle is for hanging it over the fire and maybe the long flap is to keep items dry when it's flopped over the back. We've used traps like that for crabs all the way to fish.
Cheers for the video. Please don't believe the hype about those space blanket bags, though, the material was designed to reflect the sun to keep things cool; the only heat they reflect is radiant heat waves, but most of your body heat (about 90%) is lost through conduction and convection. The best they can manage is about 90% of the other 10%, which is nowhere near good enough in cold conditions. Sleep is just as important as food in a 72 hour scenario.
These Battle boxes seem to be some of the best monthly subscription boxes I've seen. High quality gear and prices aren't to bad. That knife is awesome. I have a ton knifes but I'm always on the look out for more, haha
Like most if not all freeze-dried meals, meant for boiling water to be added to the pouch then resealed so the meal may rehydrate under heat & pressure, rather than in an open container. Good demo of the bottle & nesting cup though with the bail.
The bail will work the same way with the single wall bottle to boil and purify larger amounts of water. As for those filter bags, don't care for the idea. If I'm bugging out there is no way I want to be sitting around for 8+ hours just to get a drink. Same with the fish trap. If I want pure water I'll use my Sawyer filter and if I want fish overnight I'll use my fishing yo-yo. Other than that the kit seems to be a good beginning for a 72 hour bag.. All you need to do is add a few things like cordage, IFAK, more food, extra socks, a tarp, etc. and your home free.
I’d actually use everything in this one lol! Flashlight does suck but, got one as a gift years ago and it’s still truckin along. Gets used as a “beat em up” torch.
You have that flashlight (100 lumen) w/ adjustable beam focus. WIth a fresnel lens at adjustable length ... can you start a fire with it on those cotton fiber cookies (?!). If you keep MH inside the mylar bag, pour in the hot water, zip up, mush up, let set, and bend the bottom gussets into an "S" shape, and put the MH bag inside your cup, the once-onery elliptical pouch is forced to be somewhat "O" shaped, the whole cup and the mylar keeps the food very hot (some for me last 15-20 minutes), you have a safe cup to hold, ... eating is easy out of the bag, and when done ... lick the spoon, pull out and zip up the MH bag, ... Clean up all done. Dispose of bag (or thoroughly clean and reuse for a water or dry storage mylar bag carry). 72 hours and 1 bugout meal (hmmm, even I would be hard pressed to have 1 meal for a normal 3 day - 9 meal event). Fish trap could be a good crayfish trap. YOU BOOB organization - all butts, all boobs, ... and no man-tubes.....
I was intrigued by the Waterdrop pouches, more for a camping/bushcraft scenario. Throw them in the stream while you are setting up camp during the day and enjoy them later or the next morning... They seem lightweight and effective - and tasty evidently. I could not find any distribution locally or online. Do you happen to have any info on where to find them other than battlebox? Thank You!!!
If you had to choose one of three knives, which would you pick and why? A) a Kukri B) a Bowie C) a Tanto (assuming ca. 30cm/12In blade length and a smaller knife for pealing etc. included in the BOB)
Personally, I'd choose the Kukri, for being the sturdiest blade that packs most punch. It can be used for chopping, hammering and digging. The Tanto would be probably a bit lighter and better suited for prying and battoning. The Bowie would be a good combat knife and has a nice, flat-wedge crosssection, but the clip-point tip looks to fragile to me for heavy duty use.
I noticed that you are a very smart guy and very prepared. If you ever have extra gear and supplies you no longer need and plan on getting rid of you should donate it to fans lol. Put me first on the list
The flap on the bag could be used as a sun shade( or umbrella) if you don't have a hat. I think the water pouch thing was cool, as I live in Florida it would be great for hurricanes, dunk it in the pool and in 8hrs you will have a cold ( or cool) drink.
Good review of the products. Water is key 8hr wait time is a no go in a get out of dodge situation. If you have any leverage with the company have them put in a filter bottle or survival straw! Thanks again brother, Happy Holidays, God bless you and your family long live the republic!
UA-cam, yet again telling me that it doesn't recognize the video format, making me unable to watch it. I love your other videos that I'm able to watch. Keep it up.
Thanks for the video. I was wondering is that pack is only available from BattleBox? They sell it individually on their website but I am wondering who the manufacturer is. Thanks a ton!
Battlbox merchandise appears to be of lower quality, however, Waterdrop captured my attention and of course Backpackers Pantry is always great tasting.
ROFLMAO!!! U @$$! YOU GOT ME WITH THAT FISHING JOKE! when I saw the fish my wife asked me what was wrong because my face was in shock! Good one! Keep up the great work!
Adding Gatorade water to the freeze dried meal because that's the only filtered water... it appears someone didnt think this survival pack all the way through.
Awesome gear this month from battlebox Sootch00. I really like that backpack, it looks so military. Also have a Happy Merry Christmas to you and your family. Long live the republic

Next time put the water in the package - not dump the package. No clean up, you can fold the bag over to “cook”. Just boil water in the pot, eat out of the pouch.
Can you buy only the current box if you want. I like the value and items on this one but don't want a subscription because I'll just get stuff I already have or don't need.
Zer0 Tolerance this particular box will be the new member box, so if this is your first order, you will get this one. You can’t usually pick the box you want though
Okay, that waterbag filter makes no sense. In a true Bug-out scenario, you need to be moving. Yes, stop and rest and sleep if you can find a secure location away from people. (Much easier if you're traveling with a trusted individual.) But no one has time to stop for a minimum of 8 hours, in an attempt to filter some water. They should have included a better option. Perhaps a sports bottle with a strong filter element inside. Something that works a heck of a lot faster than those bags.
SensiblePrepper you might be stopped 8 hours overnight, although it's still not ideal. I might throw 1 or 2 in as a backup but it's not the best solution
+Papi Maximus No worries. Those who take Bugging Out seriously, have that little detail worked out ahead of time. Obviously, not so little. But again, if serious, where to Bug Out to is something already taken care of. It could be a secluded cabin hidden in the woods with plenty of pre-stocked provisions for a long-term stay. On land owned by you, a family member who trusts you, or even a close friend who plans to meet up there with you. that's just one example. Keep in mind that bugging out doesn't automatically mean a nationwide disaster. It could be localized. Hurricane, tornado, etc. In such a case, bugging out could mean getting to the home of a relative one county away where the weather is calmer and the natural disaster isn't headed there. And yes, typically the safe haven should not require a longer journey than 3 or 4 days at the very most.
NGMonocrom Good point, but you can put one of those bags in ur water bottle then fill it up with dirt water and continue moving without having to stop and wait the eight hours.
