I have 0 desire to direct, or even make videos. But there is something about these videos that I find so calming and peaceful, I can't stop watching!

Lefty knuckle on that boom pole!
Good practice is to have the knuckle on the right side of the stand so that when gravity pulls the weight down (or if the weight bounces from the stand being moved) the knuckle tightens with the weight
When the knuckle is on the left it will loosen and the weight can come crashing down
I've seen this happen many times on set
Literally leaving in 20 minutes to go direct a scene. Perfect timing!
Perfect timing!
I have always looked forward to seeing BTS of epoch making documentaries like yours. Thanks for the pieces of information shared. With love from Lagos, Nigeria.
Glad you enjoyed it Emmykay!
So killer! Love to see more BTS directing like this! Thank you!
🙏🏻🙏🏻
This is perfect for this winter’s Jaws doc! Thanks again Mark!!🤙🏼
Can’t wait to see that film!
Mark this is incredible. Your advice is invaluable!! The e-bike stunts made me laugh 😊
Thank you, Mark! Great tips - as always!
Thanks Arvid!
To me, Mark always hits the mark. Even if the subject may not be germane to my stain, I always want to watch. 💛🙏🏽
Watch this whole series twice haha. Love all the info. Thank you so much for putting in the time to share. 👊🙏
Awesome tips, thanks Mark 🙏🏽
I had to stop watching this video because my name is Brackston. When you were talking about him and I was walking around my house, I kept thinking you were talking about me. This man is putting our name to good use. I hope that he spells his name the same as I do.
Mark this is excellent with you thank you🎉❤
Watching from The Philippines
Sick! Thanks Louis!
This was excellent! Solid content Mark!
Thank you very much mark. It’s insightful
This was really helpful. 🙌🏾
Love it!
Thank you Bro
Amazing doc advise!!!!Well explained and straight to the point.Keep it up the good work!!Salutes from London.😀
Love the detail in the advise provided. Thank you
Great video-such valuable information. Thank you.
How do you go about finding a subject for a doc? Do you already have the idea and find a person? Do you meet the person and go hey this would make a great doc? etc.
Such awesome tips! Can't wait to implement some of these on our next projects. Mahalo!
Great video! Hahaha I love how you occasionally cut to clips from movies to express a frustration. I still think about when you cut to DeNiro destroying the phone call as a way of saying ' I hate being distracted from my magic hour."
To add to that, these tips are so invaluble. I also have zero experience shooting extreme sports, and I'm been itching to try shooting that.
Nice shirt my guy 🔥
Super helpful video! Thanks Mark!
Thanks mate!
@markbone what is that gymbal you're holding with the cam on it when talking about not neglecting sound? It looks small and cool...
Is the talking head in this video shot on the fx9 as well? Great stuff as always btw.
Great video as usual with tons of info! Thabk you!
Also..Who usually , who pays for documentaries?
We got the 4D too, izzzzz 🔥🔥🔥. What lenses did you use with them
Love this video!
Oh and where is that shirt from? Looking good!
I would really appreciate it if you would tell me the name of the website you are using for planning in the minute 9:00
Crew is crewcial, got it. Lol. About the sun, I've noticed that photographers do the opposite, most always shoot with the sun and not into it, and I have no idea why because it always looks so bad.
Do you mind if I ask what Microphone you have on your boom at 3:02? Awesome video as always!
Sennheiser 416
@@markbone Oh that makes sense. It looked like an old MKH 60 but guess I'm going crazy haha. Thanks for the reply, keep up all the awesome work! I cannot wait to see this dirtbike doc
great stuff mark!! I challenge you to 1on1 bball next time I'm in Toronto..
Heck yeah!
Man, I love your stuff... I mostly do photography. I would love to do more video... as you said I should go out and just make something. But man its scary😅
Is it ok if I’m in a budget and use a green screen which I change to a different stylish background when shooting an interview?
I’ve seen maybe FILM behind the scenes are shot with artificial background where there is a location from the film in the background of the person
I personally avoid green screen at all costs
@@markbone actually I use black screen which later change to a dark stylish background, is it better? I know green screen is bad with hair especially women’s, you are right here
So where can I watch this documentary?
Releasing in the coming weeks!
3:25 let’s be real…it was a Crossfit

Just honestly, the hat is a loser. You look much better without it. You look more competent and believeable. Match your look to the high quality of your content.
😂 noted, james hates hats.
@@markbone Just trying to help. I like your channel. 🙂
No offense but the interview doesn't look "cinematic" at all imho. It's just hard lighting, way too much haze, no texture (besides too much haze). The story doesn't seem very appealing to me. Just another Documentary about a topic no one really cares about. This maybe would have worked in the 90´s but our world is just a different place now. Why not go beyond what is comfortable and make something that expands peoples horizon. This is a story we see everyday on instagram or TikTok. Show me something new, show me something that changes my perspective.
You make a lot of comments on his channel seems like you’re a hater that doesn’t make anything.
@@rickyxblackwell I commented 2 times in the last 4 years… also if you don’t like the fact that people comment on videos, this is not the right platform for you dude. Also I’m doing this job for more than 8 years full time. If my stuff would look bad, I wouldn’t be working that frequent.
6:15 anyone know what the heck that is that Mark's holding? I've never seen a gimbal like that before!!!!!!
It's a DJI Ronan 4D. It's a cinema camera with a built in gimbal.
