Awesome driving! The car seems to rotate beautifully through the corners. I heard people were complaining about the understeer for this car. What setup/hardwares are you currently running on the car?
Thanks! I thought the balance was pretty good, just enough rotation in the slower speed corners with nice stability at higher speeds. I could probably deal with even more front end grip. Stock hardware, Yokohama A052 tires in OEM sizes, roll bars set to full soft front/full stiff rear, small drop to the front end for more rake, and max negative camber in the front with a little less in the year.
@@teddyframhein Thanks for sharing the info! I have one coming in very soon and plan to bring it track. So I was reading the forum where people would get camber plates and rear toe links to achieve big camber front and rear to eliminate the understeer. Base on your setup, I believe the roll bars and the rake will do the trick to eliminate the understeer.
Nice! This is also heavily dependent on driver input, so I tend to take most of what I read on forums with a grain of salt... If you're not using the brakes to load the front of the car on the way into a corner, or popping off the brakes and jumping to throttle too early, you're always going to experience understeer. And if you develop a car to not understeer in that scenario, it's going to be impossible to control as you learn to better blend braking and steering. Your mileage may vary!
Thanks! I recognize your car :). Through 3 and into 3a I was lightly trailing the brakes, throwing the car into the compression and trusting it would hold. I found that if I over-did this the car would oversteer in the middle of the corner. It might be a little faster to hold the car further to the left and optimize the run to 4, but I think it’s easier to under-drive the car and not take advantage of the extra grip from compression that way; plus, there’s more overall direction change.
Thanks! It's hard to figure where a lap like this stands in the grand scheme of things. I'm looking forward to getting back out there in any case. Your time in the 992 GT3 RS is also very impressive!
I'm using a GoPro mounted just behind the seats using a clamp, along with a kiwi4 OBD2 adapter and RaceBox Mini S, all paired to RaceChrono Pro running on my iPhone - which you'll see in my autocross videos is mounted on the left side of the windshield. This has been the most stable, flexible method of data and video collection I've found.
I use one of these, which clamps to the bar just behind the seats (look it up on Amazon or elsewhere): "Manfrotto 035RL Super Clamp with Standard Stud"
Nuts. It's educative to see your "zero steer" trajectory through turns 1 and 9.
I was impressed by how soon and hard you were on the gas exiting the carousel!
The data shows I was pulling almost 1.7g at the exit 😅.
Great driving
Thanks!

@@teddyframhein Very well said!
Amazing driving, well done! Are you braking through 3a/3b and the esses? Seems like you're just lifting!

Fast AF. On stock car!!

You have to tell me your camera and overlay set up. I love this. I see Race Chrono Pro but are you using go pro or iPhone?

@Teddy How did you actually mount eh GoPro inside the vehicle? What gear did you use for that?

Ah so you have a cage in the back?
Not yet. The bar I'm talking about here is present on all Caymans and sits just behind the seats at about the shoulder line.
