Many thanks Allison. I try to teach my students good habits as early as possible. Otherwise its a lot harder to change a bad to good habit later. For me, posture is one of the fundamental issue in massage. Not only it protect the therapist's body, but also it allows a good quality of touch with clients.
I tell learners two reminders: 1. Stand up for your work and 2. Get behind your work. #1 means that we want to keep our own backs straight, don’t bend over and #2 your energy goes in the direction of the movement. You are showing these things, but just in other words/ways. Bravo, good video! Every school needs to teach these things!
You are absolutely right Paul. Most schools just 'teach you the moves', and are not concern about therapist posture. The posture is really really really important as it protect the therapist body but also improve the quality of touch.
What a lovely teacher, I watched few videos and he's excellent the way he explains and his sense of humor is great. I manage to see my mistakes as a beginner. Thanks, great videos!
Been searching youtube all the time how to use body weight and having a nice posture while doing a massage. I'll be having my practical this week and i am so grateful to come across with your videos. I have already watched like 15 videos of yours and they're just so amazing. I am learning a lot. To be honest your even better than my trainer. The way you explain the postures and techniques are just so amazing!! 10 thumbs up for you and 4 thums up to my trainer!!!!
Currently in school for massage and have been struggling with the idea of lunging and body mechanics. Partly because the school I go to doesn't go that in depth into it. This video is hands down the best body mechanics online. The instructor really explains body mechanics in an easy to follow manner and love how hands on this teaching was with the students. Will continue to reference this video and send to fellow friends
Hi. I have just come across your web site and it is excellent. When I trained as an ied aromatherapist many years ago I was not shown how to keep and maintain my poosture when giving a massage treatment, though learnt the importance of posture when I later trained in sports massage, which has been invaluable over the years. I love the way you teach your students the fundamentals of keeping your body safe as well as healthy when massaging.
Love you.You are very informative. I've learned a lot.I've done massages and pedicures and I felt my body was caving last week in the spa.It was even difficult to climb in the work van to go home, one of my coworker had to pull me up in the van.You could show us postures to do pedicures .Thank you very much.
You are welcome. Keeping your own posture is extremely important. The quality of touch improve if your posture right, you as a therapist feel a lot better and the treatment will be a lot better.
Awesome video. I am in massage school and watching your videos has really helped out since I am enrolled in the part time program and don't get the chance to practice a lot!
I remember me worrying about the handwork at the beginning just to realise i have weak ass legs lol...i was exhausted just because i was working more with my legs than with the arms. Remember massage therapists have strong legs :D
I DON'T NEED THIS GUY TO TELL ME HOW TO MAINTAIN MY POSTURE WHEN GIVING A MASSAGE...I NEVER HAVE A PROBLEM, IT'S JUST COMMON SENSE TO NOT TWIST AND JERK
