My little shop stool has gotten pretty rickety and unstable. It's definitely not safe for me to stand on to get things off my lumber rack anymore. I needed something that would be more stable and be a touch taller. I thought it would be nice to have a shop stool that could also double as a step ladder. With that in mind, I drew up a Fisher's Shop take on a common design for a step stool. This piece features a stable double A-frame designed stool with a nested set of steps that can flip out on an axle. This turned out to be a wonderful little addition to the shop! And with just half-lap and dado joinery, it was a cinch to put together. Check out the video and then pick up the plans to make yourself one of these handy little step-stools.
I watched it twice. Two just seemed to be the right number of times.
Haha!
@@FishersShop ......Now, here we have a serious Stereo Enthusiast !!! Lol !
A+ video, as always, but with all of the stool puns/ dad jokes , I can only rank this as my #2 Drew video.
Nope just saw the outtakes, that spider is huge!
I had to read this joke 2 times for it to sink in💩
The dad jokes... Even the step dad jokes... Awesome.
And the A-Team jokes. No one but us old geezers will get those.
I was honestly waiting for a 'What are you doing Step-Ladder' type of joke.
@@jimthesoundman8641 Who ya callin old! :-)
@@haglem I pity the fool who calls me old!
Jokes? Did I miss something?
Even when the universe tries to tell you not to add the flathead screw, you persevere. I applaud your stubborn gumption.
Rub the screw over a bar of soap before trying to drive it in. It will make it slip right in. But a flathead screw is still bold choice!
My wife was asking me to make a step stool this morning. Great timing.
I love the throw away remark about your "neighbours door having walnut trim.....after I cut it down..." 😂
It's like you're a secret agent man.
Cover story: highly skilled and experienced woodworker.
Actual mission: putting a smile on everyone's face in these troubled times.
I say: job well done.
Your woodworking skills, comedy and filming/editing are all top notch. You are a national treasure, and should have your own woodworking show on tv.
if he is a treasure does he have to be buried under a big black X?
"Stool sample". I shouldn't have been surprised, but it got me. Head shaking giggle. Again, very entertaining and educational video Drew.
Me too 😉
Hello from Ohio, Drew! I've been subscribed for about 18 months (though I did just accidentally unsubscribe today, I made sure to subscribe again 😂) My dad is disabled and spends most of each day watching woodworking, outdoor building, camping, metal detecting, car restoration and cooking videos on UA-cam. He struggles with some pretty severe depression at his inability to do the things he used to, like work with hand tools, stand at a machine and create, or even something as simple as sleep on the floor of a tent.
Woodwork is not really my thing, but one day he convinced me I HAD to sit down and watch this HILARIOUS video he had found, and ever since, we both have never missed an upload from you. Your puns and Dad humor always bring the mood up, no matter what it is to begin with. Thank you for bringing joy, and a few times tears of laughter, to my father, who lives vicariously through you and the other folks he subscribes to. I can't possibly convey how much your content means to us.
Also, holy CRAP that is a huge wolf spider!!!
This made my day, Sarah! Thanks so much for sharing and tell your Dad I say Hi. :)
Sarah, if you send me a note from my website, I'd like to get your contact information so I can send you and your Dad something. :)
I was watching this while I was on the toilet making my own stool. This stool is more useful than mine!
I pity the stool...LOL, love the A-Team/ a frame reference!
Great project Drew, now let's go make some stool!!!
Had to stop by and say thanks so much for the inspiration! Your dowel idea was really encouraging and had a bit lying around 😀
You are so welcome! I saw your IG post about the version you made. Well done. :)
This is me having to stop mid video to say that the way you used the router to make a router template was an awesome technique :D Cheers. Back to watching.
Glad it was helpful!
I may have said this before, but you remind me what UA-cam Woodworking used to be. A weekend Warrior solving life's issues, one project at a time while incorporating various techniques and design strategies.
Step by step plans are they indeed
I gave you a thumbs up just for not calling a counter bore a countersink.
The great video and funny voice over is a given
I do love watching your videos, mainly because your voice is very soothing lol. You have the voice that would be great for audio books! I also love your content, thank you!
Thanks!
The next perfectly sized project from our friend, good old Mr. Fisher. Thanks a lot, Sir!
You bet!
"My neighbors front door had some walnut trim, that was only held on by some brad nails and glue. After I cut it down to size..."
This guy kills me.
Ok I knew it was coming, but the stool jokes, so well done! I'm glad I'm not that smart and love slap stick!! As always enjoyed it Drew!!! Very pretty with the cherry!
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks, friend
Hilarious comments! Love your ideas, easy plans and your comedy!!! Love the Bloopers too!
Your wife wins a prize for not cussing and hitting you for freaking her out with that spider!!! And did you allow it in the house?? I hope it was an exterior door!
Glad you enjoyed it! :)
My wife will love this! Thank you Fishers Shop.
You bet!
may your Neigbors Walnutstorage never end..great Video and yes, from my last Glueing i still have a tinitus...
Stay safe! :)
Thanks for the great tip about the blue tape on the saw! And thanks for the witty humor! Love all of it.
Glad you enjoyed it
I was never so happy to hear about someone's stool sample. And I must say, it came out excellent!
Oh. My. Goodness. The comedy of your builds. If I took a shot for every 'stool' joke, I dont know that I could watch the outtakes!
Lovely step stool Drew. Cherry shop furniture....wow!
Thanks, Paul! I don't mess around. :)
I’m an absolute fan of your channel! Your wood craft is stellar but your comedy/commentary is even stellarerr! My wife is a Thumbalina, she needs a step stool to reach the top shelves in our RV, not to mention everything in out home too. I think your design is perfect for her! I will be heading to your website next!
Thanks 👍 Have fun!
Here I am in the UK watching another great video, listening to your voice is so relaxing and gives you confidence to have a go yourself, so that's what I've done purchased your plan's thanks 😊
Awesome! Thank you! Have fun with the build!
Everyone should have a shop spider that size.
Enjoyable video. Well done.
Great time watching as always. Happy Valentine's.
Got to admit.... I think I enjoy your commentary more than the projects.... and I really like your projects !
Drew, once again you have saved me. I have been searching so long for a way to make my stool smell better. Thank you, thank you, thank you. Loved this video, BTW.
Hehe, glad to help
thanks for all the effort with the slotted screw I really appreciate it !!!!!! holly stool what a spider!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
*"I never met my real stool"* LOL! I love your narrations, Drew! I hope all your stools come out as nice as this one. God bless!
Thanks, you too!
The best stool sample I've ever seen!
I'm a nurse and the stool sample and stool jokes had me in tears laughing. You silly, ridiculous, genius!
I love your sense of humor. I look forward to watching and listening to you!!! Thank you!!!
Thanks. :)
Great build, how awesome is it you can watch a comedy show, an amazing build, an work health and safety video, and a nature documentary all in 17 odd minutes. Thank you for your efforts!
Super project. I will be sending for a set of your plans but first, I have to take a trip to your nieghbour, and borrow some of his walnut trim.
So nice to see you drop a stool video for us.
loved the commentary and of course the craftsmanship and the bloopers.
AAA score on two fronts, for the stool (which looks great by the way) and the jokes. I sprayed coffee everywhere when I heard about the neighbors door trim. Very funny! Thanks for sharing your ideas and obvious skills with us. Best wishes. :)
Thanks, Mark! :)
I was surprised to see a lack of walnut, except the plugs of course. a beautiful piece and funny outtakes
Glad you liked it!
The jokes and bloopers are what set your channel apart! Entertainment & Education! Thanks!
Glad you like them!
Thumbs up for the trick used at 8:10. Excellent use of a flush-trim bit and super glue!
Glad it was helpful!
Beautiful stool. I just bought 3 of your plans last night, might have to buy another. I really enjoyed your video, like I do all yours, I enjoyed it all the way up until the end, when you showed that man eating spider. Even though it's in a video, still made my heart race, thing was freaking huge, probably would have had to burn the whole shop down just to make sure it died. I love summer, love the warmer weather but I hate the fact it brings out those devils. Man, I don't even want to go out in my shop now because I know they are out there too
Haha. I charge him rent and since he's been paying loyally, I allow him to stay.
@@FishersShop a thing that size, he can have the house, wife and the kids lol
The Danish word for chair is "stol" and a stool with steps like this one is called
"trappestige" (step ladder). And Danish Oil isn't Danish! Just like Danish (pastry) is called "Wienerbrød" (Bread from Wien/Vienna, Austria). If you didn't know, now you do! :D
I know my version of this stool/trappestige will be a far less perfect build, but hopefully solid and used a lot and therefore perfect for my shop :D
Thank you so much for another great video/build and inspiration (y)
Great job Drew. How did you know my stool has been missing? Now I know what to do!!! Purchasing plans my friend. Thanks so much as always for your outstanding content. Be well and God Bless.
Glad to help! Thanks, Mark
Love how the project turned out! I was cringing at the beginning while you were on the old stool. Ha ha
Hehehe. Thanks, Bruce! :)
Awesome little stool. Great commentary, especially all the dad jokes thrown in.
Thanks 👍
Very nice build! That is one stool that I can honestly say does not look like crap! The spider bit at the end was classic! 😂😂😂😂
Thanks, Steve
The production quality, the dad jokes, this channel has grown so much and I love where its at
I just finished the flip top stand, and it works flawlessly. This will be next. Keep up the good work - You're gonna keep me busy......
Why are you low key the funniest person on youtube?!
It's my stool sample.. 🤣🤣
“How loud glue can be” 😂
So loud.
My three year-old granddaughter commented that "glue is very, very quiet". She also pointed out when he was squaring boards on the jointer that the boards were rectangles, not squares. She's not very impressed with Drew.
"Titebond IV - Now quieter!"
Well now, that’s a ver sticky question.
Great video, as usual. But so glad I stayed for the end. Made it all worth it to see the spider reaction!
Love the witty banter. Cracking me up!
Glad you enjoyed it
Your sense of humour is on point. 🤣🤣🤣🤣
those sophomoric stool references.... I mean there are kids reading ! watching ! and they're loving them !!! Nice project :) Had a few commenters about flat head screws eh ? lol
Wow! Beautiful stool. I just happened upon this channel yesterday and love it! Your funny comments really make the video that much more enjoyable to watch. Thanks Drew!
Glad you enjoy it!
Hey Drew, just watched this the second time coz I wanted to share it with my brother. I thought I was the only one to have a pet spider in my shop! Now I love the fact you pay homage to your grandfather by using a flathead screw! Do you wax the threads before installing them? It’s a must on flatheads!
Depends on the screw. The brass screws definitely need it because they can just twist and break.
This is my favorite video of yours. Kept getting better right up to the very end.
Glad you enjoyed it!
The outtakes show the humanity (and spiders) found in every wood shop. Sweet!
Hey Drew,
Awesome build, no wonder the missus is eye-balling it!
Looking forward to the step-by-step step-stool plans 🤣
Regards
Lars
Hehe, thanks Lars
I never thought I would ever, willingly, watch a 15 minute video about another mans stool... and enjoy it.
10:18 You didn't disappoint brother. I was waiting.
“This is my step stool. I’ve never met my real stool.”
This, ladies and gentlemen, is comedy
I pity the fool!
No matter how busy I am, I always stop what I'm doing to watch your video's when they come out. I know I'm going to see some great woodworking skills, awesome tips and your sense of humor always makes me laugh......something we need more of these days!!! Thanks for another GREAT video!
Aww thanks, Lori! :)
Like the narration Drew...... who ever said you can't polish a turd...
Beautiful looking stool...
Never thought I would find a mans stool intriguing, watched the whole video... love your videos, keep on !!!
Hehe, glad you liked it!

Great build, Drew. Some of your best puns yet, too. That was about the loudest glue I've never heard! Take care.
Bill
Thanks 👍
I love your humor!! And your craftsmanship is amazing! I will be buying the plans because your stool looks great! 🤣
Haha, have fun!
You sir are comedic genius!!!
I come for the woodworking, but I stay for the jokes. You're the best.
Truth!
Jokes?
My doctor asked if my stool is normal.
I just want to say that you have viewers in Poland 😉🇵🇱🇵🇱🇵🇱
Another fine job Drew. Going to purchase the plans for this stool. I have 3 daughters and will make one for each . Long after I am pushing up daisies I want them to have Daddy`s Stool within arms reach when needed.
You are hilarious! I love it when a plan comes together!
Your commentary is the best on youtube!
Wow, thanks!
Love your work and humor
Loved all the stool puns! It turned out great!

LOL, stool sample!! Cracked me up. Nice design
It’s good to hear Mrs. Drew likes your stool! 🤣
It amazes me that you don't have more subscribers. Your channel is one of the best and funniest out there. As a dad I can appreciate the dad jokes very much. Awesome stool by the way.
Thanks!
Love your sense of humor.
This is absolutely beautiful! And added bonus functional lol
Thank you! 😊
Oh geez, I need to flee Michigan right now, that spider looks HUGE!
A gem of a channel
Thanks!
I always enjoy your out takes. That spider was HUGE!!
Loved it...as usual! I am so glad for the opportunity to inspect your stool.
Love the content!!! Your work is amazing and the dry humor is to die for.
Thanks, Derrick!
Stool sample 😂🤣😂🤣 that’s just golden 👍🏼........you should come over to Australia mate we’ll show you some big spiders lmao 😂🤪
Thanks for sharing those tips and the make!
This may be your best video yet! Unsurpassed punning kept me laughing throughout, while still appreciating quality woodworking!! You’re my new hero and I’m at least 30 years older than you......weird, huh?
Thanks, Charles! :)
Gotta love them step by step plans.
It’s a step stool. What kind of plans did you expect?😁
Have always loved this style of step stool. May need to make one for my shop soon. Will be buying your plan when I do. Thanks, Drew!
Awesome! Thank you!
Lovely stool sample, sir. All the good signs are there...
Thank you kindly
