  • Using an online filter calculator I design, build and test a 160m bandstop filter. High-pass, lowpass and bandpass filters can be home brewed using a similar approach. For testing I use my sweep generator and oscilloscope as well as the nanoVNA.
Watch this video where I explain the test set-up using the signal generator and scope: • Tuning a bandpass filt...

Personally I love ELSIE when designing filters, I think it's free for personal use, it has really nice graphs and easily adjustable component values and how this affects the graphs.

Hi Stephen, I was sure that I wrote a message here a couple of hours ago, so if you have it twice, sorry for the inconvenience. I was wondering if you could possibly help me to find the right lab arbitrary waveform generator. I have some questions... :-) Yours sincerely, 73 DX de HA5CST Tamas

Steve, I built the same filter the same way and siliconed the parts in place. At least I thought it was silicone. Turned out to be heatsink compound. it was late. And only the nastiest solvents work on it.
    What, no tinysa?
Great design website, I had not run into that one.
What relays are you using for switching filters?

      Hi Dale,
Just a small signal relay like a 12v Omron G5V-2.
I'm not sure a nano SA would be "fast enough" to do the filter adjustment? Is it? The scope and sig.gen work great.

Hi Steve, what input/output return loss did you achieve?
