Dude I learn so much from your tutorials. I mean I may never really make a topographic map, but the amount of skills I learnt from you stacking effects and getting different results is out of this world! I couldn't thank you enough from all your tuts!
I have watched a ton of tutorials in my day. So far, yours takes the cake for the best. I wish you nothing but success and channel growth going forward!
@@ECAbrams Definitely! I at least VERY much like it. Can't understand the view count though. I guess no one can. I am no professional in the Adobe Suite, but with your videos I can at least pretend! ;)
I saw a script recently that made this effect and thought this doesn't look that complicated to make and just seemed uninspiring. Now I see this tutorial and boom nothing but ideas. Seeing each stage as you built it up really got the gears moving. As always great video, thanks! Much more useful than an automated plugin
Thank you for bringing this amazing tutorial to community for free. You expand my vision much more with your examples. I learned a ton of knowledge during this video. Definitely, you will get more and more viewers soon. Thanks a lot!
The last week's yellow intro just made me wonder how was this texture made!! But i forgot to ask you about it. and today I thank you for sharing this! You're a great teacher. 🔥🔥🔥
lol. A few people reached out about the texture so I figured it would be a quick one to make happen. If you're ever curious about anything, always ask. It's easier for me to know what to make next that way :)
It's been a while since I needed to do something new in after effects. I mostly work with the same stuff and don't need new effects. But I was a bit bored and curious so I chcked the video. My mind is blown on how easy you made this seem. Damn this was pretty amazing to see.
You gotta be kidding me ! Got to a same setup like yours by myself while working hahaha Another trick is to use a minimax and you can get camo textures, the desert storm one ( is for work ) by using the horizontal and vertical separately. They even animate the " boxes " from the fractal blocks ! Cheers from Argentina !
Great tutorial! An easier way to turn white to alpha I found is to use the Extract effect. I want to play around with making a wood texture with this by making the noise tall and thin. Update: Extract works super easiliy (White Point = 220) and wood grain looks excellent (W 250, H 5000)
@@ECAbrams Whenever I want to feel that I still haven't learned yet, I'm going to your channel and watch crazy videos 😭 You make me feel disappointed 😑💔
Awesome techniques! love de topographic texture and effect, I've been wanting you to show how to do the last part of the tutorial, starting at minute 6, do you think you'll be able to upload a video explaining the process in the future? Thank you very much for this kind of videos and keep it up!
@@ECAbrams Okay thank you so much ^^! Another question , should I transform my image into a noise map with photoshop first :) ? Because my image has other colors in it , thanks again !
@@raniadg5384 Well, we can do just about anything in Ae you might do in Ps, but non-destructively. Personally, I would use effect in Ae to treat the still image to taste.
@@ECAbrams Sorry for asking too many questions but I actually created a personnalized world map on illustrator and instead of the TOPO text showing up, I wanted my map to show up ? Can I do that ? I've followed your videos many times but the specific topology was a bit hard to follow

amazing tutorial! I'm trying to recreate what you did with having the text coming through, but it seems like the posturize is creating a lot extra shapes and lines within the text itself, any recommendations to clean that up?
I'm not totally sure I understand what is happening. You're saying the posterize effect is altering the shape of the text, is that right? if the text is just an opaque layer there should be no interaction with the layers below and no change in shapes inside it if you apply posterize on an adjustment layer above. Is that not what's going on for you?
@@ECAbrams Hmm let me rephrase. The edges of my text are creating multiple lines in the final result, as if somebody had drawn the letter and then drawn several smaller copies inside of it (think concentric circles). The more the text is blurred the more this happens, which is why I suspect the posturize is interacting with the blurry edges of the text and creating multiple levels as it goes from opaque to transparent. I can reduce the blur on the text, but it quickly becomes too sharp, and plus I need to blur at least a little bit on the adjustment layer so that it emerges out of the noise. Hope that makes sense lol, either way thanks for the response and advice.
I'm not sure what I've done wrong, but I'm having quite a bit of trouble with exporting. Each time I try, the animation doesn't show up and I'm not sure what to do :(
Bro, you should create a tutorial or course where you drop all your expressions knowledge in one place to be a reference for anyone who wants to get into that world. I ignored exp. for a long time but I think it enables creating stuff that would be nearly impossible to create without them.
I need help, I am trying to export it or put the project into premiere pro using the dynamic link but it only outputs a black screen and I can't seem to fix it
I'm kind of new to AE and I have a comp where the topographic texture slowly evolves and also moves as if it were scrolling down, is there any way to make that seamlessly loop, any help would be appreciated
We can loop the evolution of the fractal if you like. But to make the scrolling loop, you only need to have a seamless texture as your base. That can be done many ways depending on your use case. But I would look into seamless texture and offset.
Awesome tutorial! Im currently working on my first animation project and have been using many of your tutorials and others to teach myself how After Effects works! Quick question, when I apply the fast box blur, it creates almost a vingette around the edges of the base pattern comp. Does this matter, and if so, how do I remove it? P.S. I'll be posting my finished project soon so I'll give you a tag when I do!
how do you know the name of the effect so you can apply it on my videos so i can pick the one i like i hope that my question is clear i need your answer plz thanks
A lot of know what effects to combine in what ways comes from experience. I've been using this app for a while so I have a lot of memory around what effects perform what functions. It comes in time as you build up more vocabulary and become conversational with the program. And it helps that the concepts and terms are fairly universal. Like posterize means posterize everywhere for example.
Sounds like there is something amiss with your render settings. Are you using media encorder? Render queue? What method are you using to send out the h.264?
I'm glad you liked it. One thing that can help is pre-rendering out elements like these if you'll be reusing them in a project. Definitely the way I kept the workflow smooth back when i was working from more restrained system specs.
Even 3 years later this is still great for futuristic looking motion graphics, thanks for the great tutorial!
