He used the voices of all the great singers for different types of songs . Manna Dey has sung very beautiful songs based on classical ragas for Chitragupt ji . He was very well aware with the talent and speciality of every singer .Hemant Kumar, Talat Mahmood , Mukesh , Mohd Rafi , Manna Dey and Kishore Kumar have sung very beautiful songs for Chitragupt ji . His Bhabhi was superb. All the songs of Bhabhi were beautifully sung especially Chal Ud Jaa Re Panchhi by Rafi Sahab . Really that was the golden era of music. How talented and great our music directors and singers were .

Mohinder sahab , in an interview to the radio channel Vividh Bharti had said that it was Rafi sahab who introduced " Character specific voice modulation " in playback singing for the first time in the world. Sucessful heros like Pradeep kumar ji, Rajendra kumar ji, Shammi Kapoor ji, Shashi Kapoor ji, Joy Mukherji ji, Dharmendra ji, Jitendra ji, Biswajit ji, and others owe their success to Rafi sahab. Rafi sahab has sung some timeless songs for Dilip Kumar Sahab as well. Dev Anand Sahab got Kishore da to sing light songs for him, whereas he turned to Rafi sahab for melodious and difficult songs. In his autobiography " Romancing with life" he has praised Kishore da for his yodelling skills, whereas while mentioning about Rafi sahab's songs like " Abhi na jao chod kar" he says that they touch the soul.

SD Burman, OP Nayyar, SJ, Naushad, Madan Mohan and Roshan all used Mohd Rafi effectively. Chitragupta used him totally differently.

Don't forget one of the greatest composers Shankar Jaikishan who gave a lot of Rafi's hit songs & even R D Burman for whom Rafi sang lot of hit songs.
