I have to agree with neomatrix. I got my single engine land certification in 1985. I thought I would like to get a glider cert next, but tow fees were so expensive in my region that it was cheaper to move on to an instrument rating.
I started flying gliders 20 years ago..now I fly A320 for a living but will definitely get back into gliding…this is the purest form of flying…
That was my life time dream. I am a doctor today. I think at one point I will try to get into Gliding

Totally agree, sadly my gliding experience was short lived due to my current living situation, but as soon as that changes I will be in the sky again. Flying is just amazing!

Excellent video work. The thing that isn't illustrated here is the sound. I just love the sound of a glider. That whistle of the air is just like flying a fast jet where you have left your engine sound behind. It is pure magic compared to flying a powered aircraft.

If you have clouds where you live, you can fly a glider. Updraft from mountains isn't the only way to get lift in a glider.

Such a beautiful video! Four months ago I started three flights later I quit, because I don’t feel safe and there was a deadly crash in the trees with somebody else of the club. When I see this kind of videos, I want to start again !
Because you need to feel the glider and the air currents, and not rely only on theory.

I just saw your glider in this video, it was fantastic. Yes flying is many people dream, I really felt the same of joy when I completed my First solo with my RV Light sport One Bravo Tango. Aircraft.
I love your low flying scenes. The ones at altitude are amazing as well, but as a glider pilot myself, I can appreciate the experience you have with low flying.

oh i MISS it! quit in 2000. work.study.kids. took me 20 not to check the clouds all the time... hoped into a backseat in 2023: its like bicycle riding. you cant unlearn it. saved me. gave me confidence in my self, and trust in others. got a kid? send him gliding... usually from 14 years old. in a club its cheaper per year then going for a ski weekend.

Kann ich nur bestätigen! Dieses mit einem *Segelflugzeug* mit sehr hoher Geschwindigkeit in sehr niedriger Höhe über Grund durch die Luft zu brettern, dürfte das geilste und intensivste sein, was ein Mensch legal auf der Erde erleben kann! Alles andere ist Kindergeburtstag. :)
Auch sollte der Klang des Variometers genannt werden. Obwohl ich schon ewig seit über 25 Jahren nicht mehr geflogen bin, zaubert mir der Klang der schnellen hohen Pieptöne in den Videos hier im Bruchteil einer Sekunde immer ein sehr breites Lächeln aufs Gesicht. Dieses Pieptöne sind die schönste Musik.
Sollte eigentlich mal mit einem eigenem Video gewürdigt werden ;)

je n'ai pas de planeur, je ne suis qu'une passagère en planeur. Mon décompte est de 4 vol en planeur en voltige. Cet été j'y retourne encore. Malgré mes 70 ans, je suis toujours une amatrice de sport extrême. Le ciel n'a pas de limite .

If you don’t have a regular plane with a motor to tow you, can you still fly these? Are these pretty easy to land!? Are they safer than landing regular planes, or do lots of people also die in glider accidents? How much is one of these aircraft?

Stunning footage, though in all honesty, you have to be a VERY experienced/skilled pilot to fly the way you did for those low altitude shots. Regardless, glider flying is absolutely thrilling!

Flying is one thing but flying in a glider is an other, I think. Flown a couple of times in a glider and did a beginners course hang-gliding.

Why not have a true glider experience with only the sound of the wind?
You can make spectacular videos with ultra cool music but an outsider will never understand the joy of feeling a thermal, wait for the core and have it centered in the first turn while pulling a bit of G and converting your speed in altitude. Feeling the air and being in full control at the same time. How do you share that with someone who only knows flying in an airline?

Very nice. One tip Stefan. Render and upload on yt your videos in 4k even when original footage is only in 1080p. UA-cam prioritise bitrate for 4k and you will see the difference.

Way, way cheaper than PPL training. And seriously more fun. The performance of gliders compared to a powered trainer aircraft is like comparing a foiling kite surfer to a lawnmower. The sound inside is amazing.

I´m not an instructor, I can only train you on flying cross-country or competitions ;)
