same, Jimin has always had this potential, imagine that he wrote the music for BS&T and it is one of the most exquisite tracks and of great success, the same for dis-ease his bridge was the best of this song and the entire album, he is a brilliant genius and his beautiful voice matches the most amazing and new genres, he really brings freshness to everything he participates in and I am almost sure that he loves and enjoys the process of having his own works and will make more music for delight us.

I agree I would like to hear him make a song with the members and Taeyang if he did but he may not have time to make another album as he’s so busy plus he’s enlisting this year.
While this might sound like a club song, the meaning underneath is quite gloomy. It's about self denial and escapism, running away from real life issues by drowning in alcohol and wanting to stay in that "dream" of euphoria forever. I wish more people would pay attention to the sheer details and nuances of this album and admire jimin's insane brain. It starts off with :
1. Face-off : confrontation of the person/issues personified and drinking the remnants of the that person/phase away
2. Interlude dive : at one point, cheers from the concert can be heard, after which we can hear someone drive to the bar for a drink. This is the start of diving deep into the world blurred by alcohol and partying and music, a world where nothing's wrong
3. Like Crazy : as mentioned earlier, this is where he forgets his worries for a short time, he doesn't want this to end, doesn't want to be awaken, doesn't want to face life again
4. Alone : the morning after the intense partying where he's woken up by an alarm. It starts off with him saying he fell asleep drunk and doesn't remember anything and this seems to the daily routine, something he can't seem to get out of. He wants to snap out of it, tells himself it's alright and that immediately follows up with a voice chanting "lie" 12 times. Chills.
5. Set me free : realisation that he's the only one who can free himself from these emotions and he does exactly that. It's not a plea, it's a demand
Wow! That analysis makes a LOT of sense in the totality! Thanks for sharing your thoughtful perspective on the entire album. I love a concept album that weaves its theme through every song creating a beautiful tapestry with layer upon layer of meaning! Two of my all time faves: the iconic “What’s Going On” by the late great Marvin Gaye, and Stevie Wonder’s “Journey Through the Secret Life of Plants”

I like your interpretation. We are not to take things on face value. Face is a noun and a verb. They(BTS) seem to reference Jung alot. It has been so long ago that I read Jung. I will have to revisit it.

Yes, and this despite Hanteo's little antics! First they tried to claim it wasn't quite 1m, then they actually shut off the public viewing for a while to 'resolve the issue', and then I guess they finally caved in and admitted it. Hanteo is largely owned by Kakao M and that- considering the recent situation of HYBE vs Kakao for control of SM- is probably not a coincidence.
Anyway, he's #1 on Itunes in 111 countries/regions, too.

I know 80s when I hear it and this was 💯 sultry 80s vibe (note the signature 80s mullet) but with Jimin’s special twist on it! My interpretation of this song is that he was trying to numb himself in alcohol and "partying" during the pandemic but he realized it wasn't working because at the end of the day (or in this case, next morning) he was alone again. He said this song is based on the movie "Like crazy", the whispering parts are extracts from the movie. I find this song super sexy and fun but melancholic at the same time, the English version has clearer lyrics in my opinion and it made me cry.
He didn’t party during the pandemic, though. He was at home like everyone else.

I've decided to piece what's out there and throw in my own theories too. 💜 This song is so good! but its not just another love or club song. It's deep. Jimin said that it's about escaping reality to deal with one's wounds. The "she" or "baby" talking to Jimin isn't necessarily about a love interest but possibly represents Jimin's Anima. We see a girl whose movements mirror Jimin in the mv, they never meet before Jimin cuts to looking at himself in the mirror. What does the Anima means? - An individual's true inner self that in the analytical psychology of Carl Jung reflects archetypal ideals of conduct. Your anima is the unconscious part of your mind that works automatically, without introspection or awareness. Some psychologists believe your anima affects your dreams, fears, and habits (loop this back to what the song is all about). Also the Anima is an inner feminine part of the male personality. Hence the boy and girl kissing is probably Jimin's masculine and feminine side coming together. The mullet is also chosen for a reason -> boy = short hair, long hair = girl. What is a bit of both? A mullet.
The person with muddy hands who grabbed Jimin is Jimin himself. What does the mud represent? I'm not 100% sure, but my own personal reading is its Jimin's depression during covid* and long standing anxiety. The wounds mentioned but not elaborated by our Mochi. In the mv, Party Jimin is interrupted by the mud and he has to go home to Sad Jimin. Which of the 2 Jimins is in the real world? I haven't figured that out yet :( Maybe both of them are not, hence the dreamlike quality of the mv. Jimin himself asked not to be saved and not to be waken up from the dream.
This mv reminds me of Suga's SHADOW but we are dealing with a different part of the SELF here, one not explored by BTS yet 🙂. RM did PERSONA while Jhope did EGO.

*Jimin struggled badly during the pandemic when live shows were shut down because he live for the shows and probably defined his person and himself as an artist from the live shows. When Jimin performed again on MOTS:ONE, he was legit crying during the ments segment.

This is the song that RM helped him write and it shows. BTS are so powerful when it comes to dual meanings. on the surface its a sexy club song and they want it to be that way for people to enjoy it but they also know Army will be able to dig deeper and see the other sad. I am having trouble with the flip side of this song but I am seeing where certain lines can have double meanings. I can't wait to learn. Either way, Jimin is a true artist.. He isn't just a singer or dancer. He is a performer, an artist. He can go as far as he wants to go. I understand why P Dogg said Jimin would kill K Pop
From what I can see, it's a song about confronting fears and depression and realizing that you can only cover it with laughter and fun for just so long. The fun party night seems like a cure for it, but the party ends, the day 'wakes up'- no hangover to keep it from rising- and it's back to the empty house with the depression (mud) still clinging to you.
Theories are flying that the unknown girl is actually an introspection- anima, another of Jung's personality dividers. Anima is the unconscious feminine side of a man that carries his empathy, sensitivity and emotions. (Bear in mind that's dated info; men are getting in touch with their feminine sides on a regular basis.) Basically the anima helps men/people open up their interior selves and be honest with what's in there. So if accurate, this would mean Jimin was trying to push past everything in the way and look at himself with complete honesty to figure out what to do about his insecurities and self-doubts. How to find his inner injuries and heal them and stop hiding from his fears. Basically if you stick some of the lyrics of Set Me Free Part 2 into Crazy context, it starts to click together.
And then again it's a really great 80s-style party song about trying to find that special someone and being kinda jealous of others who're succeeding when you're failing. Duality!
But I saw Jimin's notes for this song and it looks like there not that much difference in lyrics before RM help, yes he did something, but even RM said that it was "a bit" in his Instagram story

I don't know if i'm right but for me, the mud and dirt are a representation of his feelings, of how he felt in his life at this time, that of the pandemic. It's a really deep song and i love it. This album talks about the conflicts he had with his identity and what he went through during the pandemic, it's interesting to see how he addresses this in the mv, with many references even in the clothes he is wearing. Both in the mv and in the choreography, the girl represents another version of Jimin, almost as if he were seeing himself in a mirror. Pure art!
this is not about a club hook up song. he’s having a face off with his female version/ anima. In bts’ Love yourself: HER era, all the members had a girl ver. of themselves aka anima but only jimin didn’t have one. Now finally it’s his anima! He’s facing his inner female self. Having a face off, that’s why you never get to see the girl and jimin getting together in the mv bc they’re parallel personalities. Moreover the background visual of a man and woman kissing and jimin standing in the middle, could be depicted as jimin wants to kiss both genders. You gotta decipher everything, it’s not that simple, has never been. Jimin said several times that this album is about himself and he would like to see how fans can interpret, get gis thoughts and everything and I’m so proud of this guy. Immensely proud.
