It really is sick to see people of other cultures, raised completely different than me actually enjoy the same music. I grew up listening to metal, and Metallica was where I started. Killer stuff. Yall should really check out master of puppets, sad but true, cyanide. Just a couple different styles to show what they are all about.

The Gadsden flag, which represents a rattlesnake with the motto Dont Tread On Me ("do not step on me", "do not step on me", "down my legs", in Latin: nemo me impune lacessit), is a standard used by liberals , libertarians. Its origin dates back to Benjamin Franklin and the United States War of Independence. It was invented by Colonel Christopher Gadsden in 1775 and adopted by several military units or states as one of the symbols of the Revolution and the new nation.
An American Classic, as they say.
This song is why I have "liberty or death" tattooed on my arm.
The song actually starts with an arrangement of the song "America" from the famous musical West Side Story. Just in case anyone wonders what it is really about many of the lyrics come from the writings of Benjamin Franklin. The snake on the album cover is based on the famous Gadsden flag that says "Don't Tread On Me" along the bottom. Metallica will always be one of my favorite all time metal groups. I love this song. I was deployed to Afghanistan in 2004 and I blared this one every time we left the wire to get hyped! The line that makes sense in this one, “To Secure Peace is to Prepare for War” I did a hype up video to this song with apaches, C-130s blowing chafe, just a bunch of moto shit.

One of my favorite Metallica tunes fo sho! The marching theme plays sweetly with Met.'s musical inclinations. Freak'n Lars on this one,( drummer)....and he gets a lot of criticism for his playing being simplistic...? I'm not a drummer. Asia really enjoyed that!

That's the beauty of rap and metal. In a way, they're not so different with respect to rappers and bands writing and performing songs that have personal or historical context, and may be rich with morals. In the end it's all expressive and trying to communicate messages to anyone in all parts of the world.

Welcome to the black album. I got this when I was 11 or 12 years old. Changed my life when it came to metal. It gets crap from old school Metallica die hards. But I think it’s their most complete album.
What does don't tread on me mean? Originating as a motto on an iconic Revolutionary War flag, don't tread on me is a historic expression of American patriotism. Today, it may be used as a more general expression of personal freedom and individualism....... but when the revolution was brewing up flags appeared of a snake that's been cut up I believe? (Not 100%) here... but it was one of the first displays to the king of Britain things weren't sitting well in the colonies.....as far as I know lol
Seek & Destroy, Damage Inc., and whiplash are just pure hard rock no deeper message. For Whom the Bell Tolls, Sanitarium, and Blackened, and .....And Justice For All. The last two are the hardest. Sanitarium, (a song deserving a second mention) Fade to Black, and all three Unforgiven are songs with deep messaging and a melancholy musical style. All of these songs are worth your time and a reaction video.
