Early Times BiB is my go to “daily” drinker. It just sits nicely between the syrupy sweetness of a Woodford’s Reserve Double Oaked and the oaky, spiciness of Rare Breed. Both are also favorites. And it’s $19.95 for a liter bottle.
Imo I feel like the JD Bonded had more complexity and tasted darker. I like ET BIB but it’s kind of boring to me, it definitely has a better viscosity than the JD. Great content!
Fair statement. JD is more complex but I don't find that complexity to be complimentary. It's very discordant to me and makes for a less pleasant experience when drinking it neat. Early Times is boring, it's just good generic bourbon profile. For $20-30 I'm down for good generic bourbon profile that lacks as many faults as you normally get in that price range.
I love ET BiB, great mixer, great value. I've even taken it to tastings with a couple of well known critics who were dully impressed. I've seen but not bought the JD BiB. The 700 ml bottle is a huge turnoff. Seems like they are just trying to slip one past the consumer. I know it's only 50 ml but my Dad was up in arms when they changed the standard bottle from a fifth (of a gallon) to 750 ml and that was only a 7 ml reduction! He was convinced it was a commie plot against the drinking man.
I love both JDB and ETbib. I recently got JDB here in KY for $29.99. ETbib is a great buy here too. Under $30 everywhere but not easy to find like all Sazeracs here.
I have tried Early Times BiB along with another Brown Forman, the flavors in the Early Times seems a tad muted in comparison. Great bourbon, regardless.

I sampled the bottle at home first but did not like it much at all, but my wife did so I packed it up in the camper. Weirdly I tried it again in the mountains and it was much better... Almost good. Don't know if the altitude change played a factor but we finished off the bottle.
Could've been more air getting into the bottle as well. We are finding this one to open up a fair bit as we didn't like it much at all right after opening it.
I find myself coming to these videos more and more simply for Erin's descriptions and Josh's reaction to Erin!! You two just make me smile, and that's never a bad thing. Erin wouldn't happen to have a much older single Sister looking for a disabled, widowed Canadian with a slightly sarcastic nature,...would she? Had to ask.
The comments section every time we do an Early Times BiB video has us wondering how many states it is available in. Half? Less? We might have to make a video just on this one bottle to get some feedback.
I'm a JD fanboy, and I like the Bonded, but I prefer the ET BIB. I actually like the triple mash better than the bonded. I haven't had the opportunity to compare the BF version to the Sazerac version.
I"m seeing JD Bonded down to about $25 delivered. At that price, i've been stocking up on cases. I'd hate to see this one go the way of ET BiB and almost never find it because of a weird allocation/shortage. I'd like to see how JD Bonded, ET BiB, Coopers' Craft 100, and Old Forester 1897 would do in a blind.
So sad for me we don't get Early Times BiB up here. I'll have to settle for JD. I haven't actually had the Bonded yet, but I really enjoy the Triple Mash.
I'm curious, has there been a blind battle between old granddad BiB versus early times BiB? OGD BiB has been my daily sipper for the longest time. Never see Early Times BiB in my area
Interesting that you prefer the new ET BIB. Most people clamor for the old bottle. I like the new stuff but unfortunately every shop in my area that has it is putting a $50 price tag on the liter bottle. When the more reasonable stores get it in stock it is $26-30 and sells out incredibly fast. Honestly, if some random unknown brand came out with a BIB product that was as good as Early Times they would easily get away with a $45-50 price tag on a 750 ML so I guess it's not a terrible buy even at that crazy markup... My liter is about 60% so I have a few months before I'll need a replacement and that's plenty of time to find it at a reasonable price again.
We also sent samples of our old and new Early Times BiBs to Dan and Sean at the Bourbon Junkies to do a blind and they agreed that our new blue cap was miles better than the old black cap. Just goes to show that the batches that get mixed up and released are going to vary, and it's really not about new vs old as much as it's made out to be. That said, we've had far more luck on getting great bottles of Early Times with the new blue caps over the old black caps.
What about a blind battle between Early Times Bottled in Bond vs Jack Daniel's Bonded vs Cooper's Craft Barrel Reserve 100 vs Old Forester Signature 100?
Have not tried either. Have not seen them in Ca. But you two are so enjoyable to watch that I am tempted. I wonder if Fred Minnick is aware of the roller skate rink note? I am a JDSBBP fan so I would likely pass on the BIB version. But I will buy the ET if I see it.
It's great for the money, but it's not reinventing the wheel and there's a lot of other stuff out there that's also good. Hard to go wrong with Cooper's Craft Barrel Reserve, Jack Bonded, or even Old Forester 100 for a reasonably comparable bottle.
I think you all can enhance your reviews by adding the name of the drink you are having in near the glass 1 and glass 2 caption. Love your reviews though
They've started releasing the liter bottles here too. Definitely increases the value for the prices we're seeing being only marginally more than the 700mL variants.

Now that's one I do have but I have to be honest, I'm not sure if it's a keeper. I like WT 101 enough to where I don't see the point in keeping OF 100 in the bar.
We’re pretty much in the same boat. Turkey over Old Fo. Early Times is a good middle ground (not as bright and fruity as OF100 but not as dark and spice-heavy as WT101) but nothing ground breaking. Turns out Early Times distribution just doesn’t reach as far as we thought and it’s not available in some states.
@@stuffandwhiskey The standard Early Times is available everywhere, it's the BiB that can't be found. But from what I've read the standard Early Times doesn't count. And I just read that the BiB is available only in Kentucky, Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Michigan, and Oregon (may have to fact check that). I guess I'll just have to do a blind of Rich & Rare vs Senator's Club 🤢🤮🤣

Everytime it pops up we definitely hear from California, Minnesota, and a couple other states that it's not available, but it seems to be pretty findable for most folks. We've blinded the old vs new Early Times half a dozen times ourselves with two different bottles of each, and even hosted a blind flight night that included the old and new Early Times bottlings. The new bottling is 100% undefeated for us and a dozen other people, surprisingly. The old bottles we've tried have all been thinner and more fruit-forward with that artificial banana flavor. The newer bottles have all been darker and more syrupy.

Thus isn’t a fair contest!!!! Early Times is above and beyond that JD. For me it’s a king in the BiB category.
If you had compared the JD Bonded to an old bottle of ET BiB it would have been an even larger margin of victory for the ET.
