Thanks for the beautiful demonstration. Since aloe Vera gel is so slippery, I think it would perhaps be easier to first cut the whole leaf into smaller sections and then peel the smaller segments with more control and a firmer grip. You can also, using a sharp knife, fillet those sections out of their skins or use a peeler, as demonstrated here. I would store them in small covered ice cube trays that have pliable soft silicone bottoms in the freezer. when I am ready to use the aloe Vera, I put the tray out for just a couple of minutes to loosen and simply pop the quantity I need out and, voila!

This was Not easier... trim the edges, cut it in half front to back, use a spoon or icing spatula to scrape the gel off.. then use what little is left on the green leaves and rub on your skin, these can be refrigerated for days, and gel frozen in baggies...

Very cool technique for getting the flat green part off! I've noticed that its very slippery to handle tho, maybe after peeling the flat side you could use a spoon to cleanly scoop the innards off of the other side. That's what I've been doing and it's much safer and gets more of the green off. Thanks for the peeler tip and the great video, it's very useful!
